A message for American right-wing climate change deniers and those who claim there is no overpopulation problem.

Particularly in the USA there are groups of extreme right-wingers who are in complete denial to the catastrophe going on in the rest of the world. They are fed a series of lies from right-wing/religious websites with political agendas, that they quote regularly as indisputable truth.  All other news is considered propaganda put out by left-wingers. They live in a little fantasy world cut off from reality and manipulated by devious people like Steve Bannon and Trump.

To them there is no climate change.

There is no overpopulation problem.

There is no environmental crisis.

There is no extinction catastrophe.

They live in their little bubble cocooned away in the US and never see the problems. They want to build walls to keep out the rest of the world and never stop to really think about what is driving this mass migration. According to them it is not anything to do with overpopulation, war, exploitation or the environmental changes – it is poor leftist governments creating shithole countries.

You seriously need to wake up and grow up. You also need to travel more and see what is going on in the world out there. Get out of your silly bubble.

Over 50% of invertebrates and vertebrates have been wiped out in the last 40 years and you don’t think that’s a crisis?

Wake up.

Or don’t you do real news? – Just right-wing garbage. I could put up a hundred such reports from a range of different sources and I can back it up with my own observations.

This politicisation of a serious issue is stupid.

Likewise overpopulation. If you had walked through the hovels in Africa, Asia and South America and witnessed the squalor, disease and abject poverty, the housing conditions, pollution and congestion, the misery and exploitation, the environmental catastrophe as nature is hacked back and all animals killed for food, for sheer desperate survival, you would not be so silly as to come out with glib political garbage.

Fracking – the debate.

The case for:

There are huge amounts of gas and oil under our land that can now be extracted.

This oil and gas will secure our supplies. We will no longer be dependent on Russia for our supplies. We will no longer be putting money into Russia. We will no longer be able to be held to ransom.

It will reduce the energy bills for all British households. We will get cheap gas and oil.

It will stimulate our economy and make the country wealthier and help pay off our debts.

It will create a number of jobs.

The case against:

It will use huge amounts of water that we do not have. Already our waterways are under threat due to the extraction of water to replenish reservoirs. This threatens wild-life.

It will produce huge amounts of contaminated water that we have no way of dealing with.

It uses chemicals that are polluting and nasty – a health risk for us and wild-life.

It could contaminate our aquifers and drinking water.

It could produce instability leading to earthquakes.

It would increase the use of gas and oil which produce carbon dioxide which is responsible for climate change at a time when we should be reducing our use.

It will take the money away from green energy projects which are safer, cleaner and do not pollute or create climate change.

Well that’s about it. What do you think?

Nick Harper Brilliant!!! – at the wonderful Ropery in Barton 2014

I’ve seen Nick tens of times in different venues all over the country but rarely as good as this!!

This is a new mature Nick, slightly more restrained, less chaotic and loud. A more thoughtful, humorous Nick.

Right from the start he set up a delightful relationship with the audience who warmed to his anecdotes, asides and humour.

Nick was in fine form, bending notes, doing impossible chords, mad tuning in songs, changing broken strings without pause all complete with a voice that soared into impossible heights. It was magical.

The new songs sounded great as well! And that album is out next week!

If you haven’t seen him recently – look out for him coming your way – it’s not one to miss!!

If you are unfamiliar check out his stuff on Amazon and purchase the great CD ‘Seed’ to begin with. You’ll end up with them all!

Check him out on You-Tube!

Anthropocene Apocalypse – Isaac Asimov’s vision of the Earth as a world of steel could be real.

Back in the 1950s Isaac Asimov wrote some brilliant Sci-fi books.

In his dystopian vision overpopulation had created an Earth that was so overpopulated that there were no longer open spaces. All the natural world had been destroyed. The whole Earth was one huge city. People lived in caves of steel. A number of other Sci-fi writers have painted similar visions of the future.

It all seemed very far-fetched and futuristic. It does not seem that way now. We appear to be sleep-walking into this nightmare.

My book ‘The Anthropocene Apocalypse’ illustrates clearly the rapid speed of this approaching nightmare. There is a mammalian holocaust as a result of the rapidly expanding population of humans. This has to be addressed urgently.

Please read my book and help change things. The solutions are explained.

Overpopulation leading to worldwide destruction of mammals!

Ten thousand years ago Human Beings and all their livestock & pets made up 0.1% of mammalian life on this planet.

200 hundred years ago that had risen to around 11%

Now it is a staggering 97%!

– All the other wild mammals make up only 3% of the total mammal population! That is a disaster!

45% Decline in invertebrates in the past 4 decades! Shocking news!

World-wide there has been a 45% decline in invertebrates due to the huge increase in human population.

Our mammals are being slaughtered on an unprecedented scale.
