Freedom, justice, equality, liberty, environmentalism and a better world – That’s why I write books and write my blog!

Fun darwin-new-revolution fun revolut

As an educator, writer, dissident, free-thinker and outspoken critic I have always sought to build a better world.

I am an unashamed idealist.

I do not write books for profit. I write books purely because I believe in what I am saying and want to make a difference. I try to do that as eloquently and entertainingly as I can. I want people to enjoy and love my books as much as I do. I do not want to produce heavy tomes of despair.

My books reflect my passions. They are light and fun but weighty on desire.

I like laughter, love and fulfilment.

I want to build a new zeitgeist that kicks selfishness, greed, cruelty and intolerance into the dust-bin where they belong!

Long live freedom, respect, compassion and care!!freedom

Anthropocene Apocalypse – The book.

As a child I was a great animal and nature lover. I spent my life up trees and wading through ditches and ponds. I collected caterpillars, newts, frogs, toads, slow-worms, lizards and grass-snakes. I had a big pit down the garden where I kept my wild animals. I had a shed full of mice, gerbils and hamsters, a pet crow, a pet rabbit and forty guinea pigs in assorted colours.

It led me to become a biologist and become interested in ecology and the environment. I became a Biology teacher before moving up the echelons.

I have been fortunate enough to travel all around the world and see many gorgeous animals in the wild. I love them.

It was the appalling destruction that I witnessed first-hand that caused me to write my own experiences down in the book ‘Anthropocene Apocalypse’. In my life-time I have witnessed the world’s wildernesses and wild-life being devastated everywhere I went. Forests wantonly chopped down, wild-life butchered and a population of humans that is burgeoning out of control. Animals are on the verge of extinction merely because they are being used in Chinese medicines of no worth what-so-ever. It is ludicrous to believe that the horn of a rhinoceros will enable you to get an erection. It is keratin. You might as well bite your own nails. It is stupid to believe that the bone of a tiger will endow you with vitality and make you virile. Yet these practices have virtually wiped out these creatures. We are surrounded with superstition and madness.

I have witnessed casual cruelty inflicted on all kinds of animals – snakes cut open alive to remove their gall-bladders which again are thought to give virility, bears and monkeys kept in chains and made to dance. It is callous and unthinking.

I wrote of it in my book ‘Anthropocene Apocalypse’. We have become so numerous we are affecting the climate and destroying the planet. Unless we reduce our numbers and act responsibly we will destroy it and ourselves. I wrote the book, along with the solution, in the hopes that we can prevent it at this eleventh hour.

I wrote this book to raise awareness of what is going on. I would like everyone to buy a copy. Pass it to your friends. Get out on the streets, on the web and protest. We can solve the population crisis. We can stop the destruction and butchery but only if enough people show they care.

Anthropocene Apocalypse – The environment and the effect that man is having on it!

If you really care about the environment and what is presently happening to our forests, oceans and animals

If you care about the future of our gorillas, rhinos, elephants and whales

You might like to read my first hand account of what is going on around the world and how we can put it right!!

Anthropocene Apocalypse is a glimpse of how our population explosion is devastating the natural world and how we can put it right!

Anthropocene Apocalypse – the solution

In the past two hundred years human beings have become out of control. We have moved from a species with relatively small numbers, using wind and animal power to do our work and travel, to a accelerating population with technology based of fossil fuels for power, causing immense damage and pollution. We have reached a point where we are destroying the planet at an alarming rate, chopping down natural habitat, decimating the wild-life and causing mass extinction.

Any fool can see that this cannot go on indefinitely. We are sowing the seeds of our own demise. Action needs to be taken.

Here are the things that need to happen:

1. We limit our population through birth control, education, and social support for times of ill-health and old-age.

2. We put aside 50% of the wilderness for wilderness and protect the wild-life in it from poachers and exploiters.

3. We develop efficient green technologies and move away from fossil fuels or polluting energy production.

4. We have global laws regarding pollution and conservation and enforce them stringently.

5. We restrict our fishing, hunting and destruction of forests to sustainable levels.

6. We value all the awesome species we have on this planet and give them a place where they can live without us encroaching.

It does not seem rocket-science to me. It seems sensible. It is time we grew out of this mad dash for growth and expansion into a more caring way of living. It is time we created a fairer, more equal world order. It is time we started caring about the beautiful world we live in. And above-all it is time we stopped breeding like rabbits.

The future will not take care of itself. We are creating it. Our numbers are threatening the climate and ecosystem. I want to live on a planet with room for chimps, gorillas, rhinos and elephants. There is surely room for us all!

We need to act now before it is too late! Help build the zeitgeist!

Nick Harper Brilliant!!! – at the wonderful Ropery in Barton 2014

I’ve seen Nick tens of times in different venues all over the country but rarely as good as this!!

This is a new mature Nick, slightly more restrained, less chaotic and loud. A more thoughtful, humorous Nick.

Right from the start he set up a delightful relationship with the audience who warmed to his anecdotes, asides and humour.

Nick was in fine form, bending notes, doing impossible chords, mad tuning in songs, changing broken strings without pause all complete with a voice that soared into impossible heights. It was magical.

The new songs sounded great as well! And that album is out next week!

If you haven’t seen him recently – look out for him coming your way – it’s not one to miss!!

If you are unfamiliar check out his stuff on Amazon and purchase the great CD ‘Seed’ to begin with. You’ll end up with them all!

Check him out on You-Tube!
