Politicians and the shady billionaires that pull their strings

The world is in a mess because the politicians make it so. They think short term and are only interested in votes. They don’t care about the planet.
The politicians are controlled by shady characters who own the billions and pull the strings.

If you want to read a gruesome book about terrorism, torture and death this might be up your street!

Anthropocene Apocalypse – Education is the hope!!

We can put things right!

Education is the answer!!

Education must surely be more than regurgitating facts.
Surely its main aims should be to make students think, question and become more human?
Surely it should encourage creativity and innovation?
Surely it must encompass the internet and computers?

Find out my view in my book written with complete honesty and openness:

It is beyond me why anyone would support such a barbarous religion – can someone explain?

Islam is the fastest growing religion.
How can that be?
There is no clearer example of misogyny, cruelty, barbarism, intolerance, indoctrination, primitive behaviour, mindlessness or lack of morality anywhere else.
Why is it such a draw to young people?
The end result of that fanaticism is a world without music, tolerance or love.
Do we really want our women in shackles, subservient and side-lined?
It looks like a mediaeval nightmare to me!

Why not build a fair, tolerant zeitgeist and a world of love, tolerance and equality?

Religion is an excuse for the powerful to control everyone else!

Can anyone explain?

Beheadings – primitive cowardice of a religion bereft of morality!

The perverted minds of modern-day barbarians using religion as an excuse for their barbaric thuggery.
History is littered with the horrendous acts of religious fanatics as they force their ridiculous views on others through torture, cruelty and the infliction of as much pain and terror as they can manufacture.
No sane god would sanction the cruelty of religious fanatics.
Stoning
Burning
Beheading
Crucifixion
Impalement
Indoctrination of children

Judaism and Christianity have both had their barbaric pasts but Islam is presently the most inhuman.

If there was a god who sanctioned such things he would have to be fundamentally evil.

It is time we put religion back into its mediaeval past along with all its crusades, jihads, pogroms, inquisitions, blasphemy laws and other superstitious nonsense constructed out of the fears, weaknesses, stupidity and flawed logic of men.

There is no god. It is time we stopped using that excuse and grow up. There is no justification for beheading an innocent man, flying a plane full of innocent people into a building or forcing women to have to wear burqas.

Let us build a new zeitgeist built on fairness and equality!!

Human extinction

As a biologist I am used to seeing graphs representing population crashes. A population will experience exponential growth and then run out of food, space, resources or suffer disease. The population will then crash.

We are at that point.

The most likely cause of our demise will be a virus.

If we do not limit our numbers we will suffer a catastrophic crash that will likely lead to our extinction.

In order to avoid this there are simple measures we can undertake:

1. Limit and reduce our population

2. Make our technology more efficient

3. Stop polluting our environment

4. Give at least 50% of our planet to wilderness and other wild-life

5. Live in harmony with the ecosystem

6. Put resources into developing a range of anti-virals.

The question remains as to whether we are going to use our intelligence or carry on blindly following superstition, warfare, mindless growth, and expansion?

Science and technology has the answers. Religion, inequality, selfishness and greed creates the problems.

Our politicians are part of the problem. Our bankers and greedy businessmen are part of the problem.

Help build a better world – build a better zeitgeist!

Tower of London Poppies – The 1st World War 1914-1918

IMG_7714

The sea of red poppies at the Tower of London were a powerful reminder of the senseless industrial slaughter of human beings.

10 million military personnel were butchered by high explosive.

7 million civilians were also killed in violently.

The poppy was adopted to remind us of the gruesome stupidity of war where weaponry has now reached a sophistication where a missile can be targeted from thousands of miles away and kill thousands of people, where a nuclear device can kill millions. There is nothing heroic about it

The poppy is a reminder that there are better ways. Violence is primitive behaviour.

It is also salutary to consider that the flu epidemic that followed the first World War killed between 20 and 40 million – more than were killed in both World Wars.

Perhaps we should be putting our efforts into solving the population explosion before the next virus disposes of us!

Build a better zeitgeist!

Freedom!!

I believe in personal freedom.

The freedoms we have in this society of ours had to be fought for through civil protest and paid for with blood. They were never freely given.

I believe in the right to follow whatever religion, or none, without coercion.

I believe in the right to support whatever political ideology I wish.

I believe indoctrinating young children in politics or religion is child abuse.

I believe in the right to chose my sexual partner.

I believe in the right to speak my mind, walk where I like, go about my life without hindrance, deride the stupid things my government do, deride religion and public servants and express my views on all manner of subjects.

I want to listen to what I want, read and watch what I want and partake in whatever I want with the proviso that my activities do not hurt other people, animals or the environment. I am opposed to censorship.

I support laws that restrict my freedom when it comes to such things as torture, slavery, exploitation, paedophilia, racism, violence and environmental damage. It makes sense not to jump red lights or go the wrong way up streets. It is only when laws become bureaucratic, and trivial that I consider that they infringe on my freedom.

I do not believe in anarchy – I believe that results in giving power to powerful bullies.

I believe in fairness, justice and equality. What consenting adults do in private, if it causes no harm, is their own business.

The society I live in has a good deal of freedom. I think it stands out as a beacon in the face of so many repressive regimes who wish to take away personal freedom in the name of religion, politics or morality.

Freedom is worth standing up for!

We create the zeitgeist!

The people in control do not know what they are doing!

It is blatantly obvious that the people who are supposedly running this planet do not know what they are doing.

Politicians do not think about the real issues. They are only interested in power, votes and re-election.

The billionaire’s are only looking to make a quick buck, exploit and profit. They bribe and control the politicians and hold the world to ransom.

The real issues of out of control overpopulation, massive pollution, destruction of rainforest, species eradication, invertebrate decimation and vertebrate annihilation are not being addressed as the crisis they are.

The inevitable outcome from a biologist’s perspective is that the human population will meet with a catastrophe not far down the line. It will probably take the form of a virus.

For the elephants, rhinos, tigers and chimps, the remaining insects, birds and hedgehogs this probably cannot come a minute too soon!

It is about time the politicians and industrialists woke up to the fact that there is more to life than making a profit, growth and economic wealth. There’s an ecosystem out there that is our support system. It provides our oxygen, food, water and weather. We are inextricably linked into it.

If they do not wake up soon it will be too late!

Read about this in my book: The Anthropocene Apocalypse – available at Amazon.

Our grandchildren deserve a better future! We can put it right! Limit the population! Build a new positive zeitgeist! Take the power from the politicians and madmen!

Writing – Opher the controversial writer!

Writing is an immensely enjoyable process. You take your thoughts, dreams, ideas and stories and organise them into words. Each word has a precise definition and by grouping them together you can capture and contain the meaning in a way that is intelligible to other people.

It is great fun. You try your hardest to find the right words and order of words to convey the thoughts and tales in your head. If you are successful then when you or someone else reads those words it conjures up the pictures, thoughts, feelings and ideas that were in your mind at the time. We can imagine it just as I originally imagined it. That is magic!

When it goes well it flows along; the words leap into place in your head and stream out through your finger tip into the computer to appear as sentences on the screen. There is a great euphoria to this. There is a profound concentration. It is mystical. A writer tries to get completely in tune with their mental processes. When that works and you read back through and it conveys what you were trying to express and brings it to life it is immensely satisfying.

I am a writer and have been most of my life. I started writing stories and ‘books’ forty five years ago and coincidentally have written 45 books!

I am a controversial author. I do not intend to be nor do I set out to offend or shock. I intend to write honestly about my feelings, views, thoughts and experiences. When I write I do not pull punches, hold back, write for a particular audience, or censor myself. This means that if I am writing about sex, politics, religion, torture or the environment, all of which tend to crop up in my novels, I tell it like it is, graphically, without restraint. Some find this upsetting, pornographic, offensive or distressing.

As a writer I am not concerned with other people’s responses as long as I am true to my own vision and am expressing myself as well as I can. My intent is to be honest and as vivid as it is possible for me to be.

Long live controversial writing! I can live with controversy far better than violence, aggression, intolerance or bigotry.
