Quote 14 – John Lennon – Insane people

IMG_2127

‘Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we’re being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I’m liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That’s what’s insane about it.’

I’ve always believed that. Most people do not want to even contemplate or discuss it.

They like to label people as ‘left wing’ or ‘insane’ or ‘nutty’. But they are part of a mad machine, run by greedy, self-centred madmen, that is destroying the world.

So who’s mad?

These are my six books of poetry. They are available as paperback or on Kindle from Amazon – all for under £5 for a paperback. You could buy the whole lot for just £27.62!!

They are not conventional poetry books. They are like you find on my blog with a page of explanatory prose followed by the poem. The prose is as important as the poem to me.

Nobody Told Me There’d Be Days Like These – John Lennon

Well Nobody told me either. Not that we’d have Trump and Brexit.

When I first heard this album I thought it was light. I did not think it said much. I’ve changed my mind. It says a lot

I never thought I’d see days like this.

“Nobody Told Me”

Everybody’s talking and no one says a word
Everybody’s making love and no one really cares
There’s Nazis in the bathroom just below the stairs
Always something happening and nothing going on
There’s always something cooking and nothing in the pot
They’re starving back in China so finish what you got

Nobody told me there’d be days like these
Nobody told me there’d be days like these
Nobody told me there’d be days like these
Strange days indeed — strange days indeed

Everybody’s runnin’ and no one makes a move
Everyone’s a winner and nothing left to lose
There’s a little yellow idol to the north of Katmandu
Everybody’s flying and no one leaves the ground
Everybody’s crying and no one makes a sound
There’s a place for us in the movies you just gotta lay around

Nobody told me there’d be days like these
Nobody told me there’d be days like these
Nobody told me there’d be days like these
Strange days indeed — most peculiar, mama

Everybody’s smoking and no one’s getting high
Everybody’s flying and never touch the sky
There’s a UFO over New York and I ain’t too surprised

Nobody told me there’d be days like these
Nobody told me there’d be days like these
Nobody told me there’d be days like these
Strange days indeed — most peculiar, mama

Victor Jara and John Lennon – Poets murdered for their views. Thank you Michael Glen Bell. Poets Fall – The Project

Victor Jara was a Chilean activist and singer. He was murdered by Thatcher’s favourite – General Pinochet. He sang songs of Love, Peace and Social Justice.

They tortured him, smashed his hands with a hammer and mocked him, telling him to play his songs. Eventually they shot him and threw his body into the street.

Lennon was gunned down in cold blood because a madman wanted fame.

Gimme Some Truth!!! With David Davis leading the Brexit talks heaven help us.

Trump, Brexit, May, Boris, Clinton and the rest – I’ve had enough of watching scenes Of schizophrenic, ego-centric, paranoiac, prima-donnas

I thought after hearing all the politicians lying through their teeth during the Brexit campaign and now Theresa May’s duplicity and the Trump/Clinton vitriolic unpleasant fiasco we might be in need of some truth!

Cos I’m sick and tired of hearing things from short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocrites.

“Gimme Some Truth”

I’m sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocrites
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth
Ive had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truthNo short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of hope
Money for dope
Money for rope

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of soap
Money for dope
Money for rope

I’m sick to death of seeing things
From tight-lipped, condescending, mamas little chauvinists
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth now

I’ve had enough of watching scenes
Of schizophrenic, ego-centric, paranoiac, prima-donnas
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of soap
Its money for dope
Money for rope

Ah, I’m sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocrites
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now

Ive had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now

All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

The Beatles Song Of The Day:”Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds”

A great song coupled with some interesting info. Thought you’d like it.

slicethelife

The Beatles Song Of The Day is “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.” “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” is the third song on side 1 of The Beatles most famous iconic [but not greatest album] Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The song was written by John Lennon. It is one of The Beatles most famous and controversial songs. May took the initials of the song and thought of it as a drug song LSD. John would always deny this. The song was inspired by his son  Julian. Julian came home from nursery school with a painting. John asked him what it was and Julian said it was “Lucy in the sky with diamonds.” John would also claim that the hallucinatory images in the song were inspired by Lewis Carroll and his book ” Through The Looking Glass.”  Growing up Lewis Carroll was a favourite author of John’s. John Lennon – Opher’s World pays tribute to a genius.

A tribute.

Opher's World

1970 JOHN LENNON and YOKO ONO Plastic Ono Band LP record album vintage vinyl A[1]

John Lennon was an acerbic, arrogant, intolerant character with a chip on his shoulder. His short sightedness and the loss of his mother at an early age created a spiky personality. He had a quick wit and would deploy with full force to target anyone he saw as weak.

On the other hand he was determined, rebellious, humorous and idealistic with a love of Rock ‘n’ Roll and a musical brilliance that was to drive him and the rest of his band to the top. Behind the defensive façade he felt everything, loved and lived to the maximum.

John was the leader of the Beatles. He provided the drive and belief. He set the direction. Most of my favourite Beatles songs were Lennon’s.

In the early days his desire was simple; he merely wanted to emulate his Rock idols, play Rock ‘n’ Roll, and become a Rock star with all…

John Lennon – God – Meaningful Lyrics.

My favourite Lennon song. Beliefs need to be constantly questioned. Where do we get them from? Have they got a basis?

Opher's World

john-lennon-peace
For me this is Lennon’s best track. He was stripping himself down and examining everything he had believed in. It was like the most honest and stark evaluation of the person he had become.
In many ways his life had shattered. His marriage had split up. The Beatles had split up. He had begun to lose faith in all the things he had held dear.
Before going off to a new relationship with Yoko it was as if he had to take his head apart and look at all the jewels he had put in there and decide which he was hanging on to and which have turned out not to be diamonds but paste.
He decided that all the religion, politics and friends he had put his hopes and trust in had proved phoney. The dream was over and it was time to move on and create a new…

John Lennon – Give Peace a Chance – Lyrics about the insanity of war and the need to give peace a chance.

I hadn’t finished my Lennon day – so I thought I’d continue it a while.

Opher's World

john-lennon-2-by-hoffman[144566]

I am proud of him

At the height of his fame and celebrity John did everything innhuis power to try to promote world peace. He tried to create a media storm with stunt after stunt. All he got for his efforts was ridicule and bad press. It did not deter him.

He used his wealth and fame to do something good.

Good on him. I admire that. If only everyone else had joined in we might have achieved something more.

The establishment would have been happier if he had been in favour of blowing people to pieces.

This song was made up on the spur of the moment. It is simple and brilliant.

Give Peace a Chance

Sinisters, Banisters and canisters
Bishops and Fishops and Rabbis and Pop eyes,
And bye bye, bye byes.

All we are saying is give peace a chance
All we are saying is give peace…
