Joni Mitchell Slams Trump!!

BREAKING: Music legend Joni Mitchell gets an incredible standing ovation during her show after shouting “F*ck Donald Trump” and brutally ripping into him. This one’s gotta hurt… During a performance of her son “Dog Eat Dog,” Mitchell sang the lyrics “snakebite evangelists and racketeers and bigwig financiers,” adding “…like Donald Trump.” After the song, she remarked that she wished that she could vote in American elections to help defeat MAGA. “I’m a Canadian. I’m one of those lousy immigrants,” said Mitchell. “F*ck Donald Trump!” she added, which set off applause and cheers from the crowd. Mitchell is just the latest in a long line of superstar musicians to reject Donald Trump and his bigotry. Given his obsession with fame and celebrity, this is the kind of thing that really gets under his skin. Please retweet and

Big Yellow Taxi – Joni Mitchell

I just love this song. Released in 1970, fifty years ago, it really pointed out what was going wrong.

We are now much closer to putting our trees in a tree museum and we’ve killed off most of our bees and half our birds.

We never seem to learn. We never know what we’ve got til its gone!!

“Big Yellow Taxi”

They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique
And a swinging hot spot

Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone?
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot

They took all the trees
And put them in a tree museum
Then they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see ’em

Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone?
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot

Hey, farmer, farmer
Put away that DDT now
Give me spots on my apples
But leave me the birds and the bees
Please!

Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got ’til its gone?
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot

Late last night I heard the screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi took away my old man

Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone?
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot

I said
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone?
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot

They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot

Joni Mitchell – Good to hear that Joni is getting stronger.

Joni is the outstanding female singer of the last half of the century. She was reported to have been found unconscious at her home. I don’t know what the problem is but she has been hospitalised for a while now. The reports are that she is getting stronger – sounds a bit mysterious!

Opher’s World wishes her all the best.

Joni Mitchell – Big Yellow Taxi – lyrics concerning the destruction of the environment – You don’t know what you’ve got til its gone!

Way back in the sixties when we were worried about the environment; we had no idea of the pace of events. What was happening then was piffling compared to what is going on now.

Our world population has gone mad. We are like a great scab spreading over the planet – necrotising humanitis – chopping, sawing, burning, ravaging, killing and destroying like there is no tomorrow.

If we carry on there won’t be!!

Joni Mitchell – Opher’s World pays tribute to a genius.

How can anyone not love Joni? She is the consummate singer-songwriter and musician. Her voice is sublime and her songs complex, intelligent and intriguing. ‘Blue is one of my favourite albums of all-time.

Right from the off she challenged herself and audience. Her first album was a concept album that did not quite work. Her second was more conventional, less ambitious and more successful spawning a couple of songs in ‘Chelsea morning’ and ‘both sides now’ that reached a wider audience. ‘Ladies of the canyon’ was the move out of the narrow Folk field into the community of the Los Angeles Alternative Scene in Laurel Canyon where all the musicians lived and hung out. It jumped to the great ‘Big Yellow Taxi’ and ‘Woodstock’. But it was with ‘Blue’ that everything came together; the poetry of the lyrics, the musicianship, the themes, range of emotions, the song-writing and voice.

Following that there were highs and lows with increasingly jazz-influenced work. The quality and brilliance was always there whether the material was commercial and accessible or more experimental. She put together an incredible a body of work that has range and depth.

Joni became disillusioned with the Music Business, as can be heard in the lyrics of some of her songs, and prefers to concentrate on her art.

I’d like to see and hear both a lot more.

Joni came out of Canada and had some sad times with polio and giving up a child or adoption affecting her early life. All of that and more have been featured in her work. After busking and playing in small clubs she moved to California and was discovered by David Crosby who recognised the talent and brought her into the fold. We have a lot to thank David for. For me Joni is the greatest female songwriter ever.
