That was superb. It was both amusing and made a number of thought provoking points.
I remember work well. It’s a type of prostitution (even if you enjoy it).
Work is a Four-Letter Word
Having been blogging for two years now and had the opportunity to look at a great number of highly successful sites I think I now have a handle on what it is that makes a blog popular or unpopular.
Here are my observations:
Well that’s me done for! Can’t say that I do anything right in terms of gaining popularity.
But then I can’t see the point of blogging if all you ever do is trivial and pointless.
If you ain’t got PASSION and PURPOSE you’re wasting your life!!
TUNE IN TO OPHER’S WORLD FOR A DOSE OF REALITY!!!!
Having put out over 2500 posts in my two years blogging I find it quite interesting to reflect on what has proved most successful in terms of number of views and what hasn’t.
there does not seem to be any rhyme of reason to it. You put out a number of similar posts and get the usual number of views and then suddenly one will take off and receive lots of attention. For some reason it seems to capture people’s imagination.
It makes me certain there is a zeitgeist (or some similar mass psychological process) at work.
It is weird.
My most successful blogs in terms of numbers of views have been:
Roy Harper Dissident on trial
Roy Harper acquitted but where is the justice in this?
Roy Harper is acquitted!! But where is Justice in this? This is not justice! Opher’s views!
Thank you Scotland
and recently:
Buffy St Marie – Carry it On – Lyrics of defiance with hope.

I’m Not Like Everybody Else – Ray Davies and the Kinks – Lyrics and how they impacted.

Anecdote – Hitching across the Pennines to A Roy Harper gig
By no means were these my best posts but they were all among the best. There was something about them that captured people’s imaginations. They propelled themselves into the stratosphere.
What was that essence that sparked the shamanic zeitgeist and enticed people to check out and pass on that particular post?
A big thank you to all my many followers. I have now been blogging for two years!! (It feels much longer!). I am so glad you find my work interesting, entertaining and thought provoking.
I have somewhere in the region of 6,600 followers – though most of them seem remarkably quiet. They span nearly every country in the world – over 160!
I still get a buzz to find I have followers in Nepal, Congo, Peru, China and Iran, as well as many others. Thank you all for following and being so loyal.
Thank you to all those who regularly comment and contribute. You make it special.
And thank you for all the thousands of likes – you give me a boost.
I know I upset you from time to time because I am outspoken and opinionated – but that is why I blog. Sorry. But if you disagree please jump in and say so. I welcome debate and opinion and do not censor anything.
I’m planning big changes ahead. We’ll see how that pans out.
Thanks for looking at my books:

All the best – Opher
I have just emptied my junk mail box. I found the contents fascinating.
Seemingly I have lots of Asian and Latino girls who can’t wait to get their hands on me. I am wanted by model agencies and people want to sell me penis enlargement and Viagra.
I have hundreds of free spins on lots of casinos, free bets and enticing odds.
I am offered lots of wonderful credit card deals and payday loans are exorbitant prices (Presumably so that I can pay off the debts from the bets I have been putting down).
Supermarkets want me to set up accounts, take out cards and arrange home delivery – with various enticements.
Then there’s the gentleman from Ghana who wants to transfer $12 million into my account.
Well obviously I was highly tempted but there was only one I was interested in. I eagerly await my 50% of that $12 million.
What is this all telling us about the world we live in?
I have been blogging for nearly two years. I have posted just short of two thousand four hundred posts on a variety of subjects.
The amazing thing for me is that my posts have been read in over 160 countries all over the world. There is only two countries in Africa, one in South America, Greenland and parts of Indonesia that seem to have not tuned in.
I find it remarkable to think that I sit here in the north of England writing out my thoughts, dreams and visions; putting out photographs, artwork, poems and stories; sharing lyrics, books and science, and in nearly every country around the whole planet some people have tuned in and looked at what I have to say. In the blink of an eye a photo taken by me in Wales is being appreciated by someone in Peru or China.
Isn’t that simply mind-boggling?
We are becoming a global community!!
Here to you all – the one people of humanity!
Together we can change the world – make it fairer, more equal, better and safer!
Together we can look after the planet and save the destruction of the world!
Thank you all for tuning in!
America is a land of inequality. It worships money. It creates a system of ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’ based on many criteria – race being the most obvious.
The ‘haves’ have create a system that will always give them the advantage – through neighbourhood, education , attitude, arrogance and sheer purchasing power. That is exemplified by Donald Trump. Nobody earns a million dollars, let alone a few billion, they get that money through exploiting others.
Fair pay is about what is a fair hourly rate for what a person puts in. To earn thousands or more for an hours work is obscene. But we live in an age where sports-people, movie stars and bankers all believe that they are worth the millions they get paid. They are manifestly not.
There is a bubble. America (and a number of other countries) lives in a bubble.
The rest of the world (most of humanity) is living in abject poverty and filth, starvation and war, largely as a result of the inequality perpetuated by a system that feels that it alright for big business to make billions of dollars out of starving, desperate people; that it is alright to rape the planet for profit.
I personally do not think that is right.
I would put as a priority the protection of nature and halt the slaughter of wild-life.
I would want a fairer world without grotesque inequality.
I want the human population reducing by half.
I want a system that is fair and does not generate poverty, starvation, war and religious fundamentalism.
I suppose, in the eyes of many Americans, that makes me a communist.
Oh – and I’d move to a global government and away from the primitive tribalism of nations.
We need, as a race, to grow up – and grow up fast – before we completely destroy the planet that gives us life in the pursuit of the dollar.
Best wishes – Opher
PS – there’s more to life than the pursuit of money – but there won’t be if we keep pursuing money at the expense of the planet.
Hi guys,
Sorry about my long absence. I’ve just spent two months touring South America – Brazil, Argentina, Chile,. Uruguay, Falklands. We went cruising on an old East German ice-breaker. It was superb.
It’s been incredible – a bit scary at times. Met some nice people, saw some amazing sights, caught some rays, saw some wild-life, had some great meals, a few wines, lots of laughs and had a real think.
The social and political mood of the whole of South America is fraught!
I’ve come back with three new books, a ton of photos and a little more understanding!
I’ll be sharing it all with you over the next few months!
Thanks for all your continuing support!
Cheers
Opher
I live to make the world a better place. Why don’t you join me? Creativity gives a purpose to life. This blog celebrates creativity. I welcome you. Please have a look at my books, art, poems and art.
This is an idealist’s shriek at the absurd, the horrendous and the obscene in the huge optimism that we can make it better.
This is a blog in pursuit of the marvellous.
I ask you to devour all that is wonderful –
and detest all that is cruel, vicious and mean.
You will find lots of life, sex and ideas in this blog – (Ideas such as – there is no god, no purpose, no great scheme, no after-life) – but I do not set out to be offensive, merely to argue my passionately held point of view.
This blog is a celebration of Life – not Death.
What is obscene is not sex.
Obscenity is:
– The destruction of the environment
– War
– The indoctrination of children
– Overpopulation
– Cynical exploitation
– Cruelty to animals and people
– Grotesque disparity of wealth
– Deforestation
– Fanaticism in politics and religion
– Pollution
These are the things I stand against.
These are the obscenities.
This blog celebrates Love, Humour, Kindness and Awe.
It is a howl of creativity – A feast of ideas – A source of controversy.
A thing of beauty – A delight of wonder – A splurge of passion.
I preach Tolerance – Empathy – Equality – Freedom – Respect –
Responsibility and Passionate Argument.
I will post some of my photos from round the world, examples of my poetry, extracts from my books, my views, ideas and dreams. I will tell you what I stand for and against and argue my case.
It would be great it you told me your views. Perhaps we could have a good argument about it!! There’s nothing better than a good passionate exchange of deeply held views.
This is the marmite of blogs!
