The effects of the population explosion are catastrophic for the wild-life on this planet. We are even affecting the climate.
The population is currently in excess of 7 Billion. It is due to double in fifty years. The impact of that is almost unimaginable. Life as we know it will be transformed. The wilderness will be devastated. Natural resources will be depleted. The climate will change forever.
We are sleepwalking towards our own extinction!

I don’t want smaller divisions of countries, nations and blocs! I want bigger units.
I don’t want an independent Scotland, Wales and Ireland. I don’t want the United States or Russia to break up. I do not want Europe to break up.
I don’t care who makes the rules as long as the rules are fair.
I want bigger, not smaller! I want global policies.
The way we humans are running this planet is insane.
One third of the world starves while one third is obese. We have a world population explosion that is so out of control that it is threatening all the natural world and our own future. We have countries spending fortunes on better ways of frying other humans while the big issues are not being addressed and most of the world lives in poverty. We have pollution, logging, habitat destruction and the combustion of fossil fuels threatening the future of the planet and altering our climate. We have religious fanatics creating barbarous mayhem and claiming that God will solve it. We have wild animals being butchered for food and superstitious medical nonsense. We have inequality creating trillionaires while babies wither for lack of basic food and water.
The world is run on greed, selfishness, power and wealth.
The planet is finite.
If we let it continue like this we will destroy everything. The only hope is a world government who can tackle all these global issues and solve the problems.
I want bigger not smaller! I want the end of nations! I want a sensible way of running things with fairness, common sense and equality as its mandate.
I want us to mature and create a positive zeitgeist!
Historically the poor large sea turtles have been hounded and tortured to the point of extinction. It’s eggs were stolen, its shell used for ornament and it was boiled for oil (sometimes alive). The turtles were heartlessly stacked alive upside down on decks of schooners so they could slaughter them for fresh meat when needed. One can only imagine the agonies they went through for weeks on end.
Today the situation is not much better. Their eggs are still stolen, their shells still used for decoration and their meat still eaten. On top of that they get caught and drowned in fishing nets, poisoned in polluted waters and die from ingesting plastic. Their breeding beaches are taken over by people and climate change is ravaging them.
They are beautiful and just one of the many, many thousands of species that we are destroying through our overpopulation, thoughtless, greedy action and callous brutality.
Action needs taking before we lose them forever.
Time for another blast from the past.
I wrote this in response to the glaring inequality that is producing trillionaires while some people do not have a grain of rice to feed their children.
There can be no excuse.

Wow! I wrote this back in 1997 when I was still really young. I’m positively ancient now but it still is just as true. The aches are just a little bigger. I still think if we try hard enough we can create a better zeitgeist and force a few crucial decisions. Those in charge do not give anything up easily. If we want to have a better world we have to fight for it. The chimps, gorillas, elephants, rhinos and all the others are worth fighting for! Our grandchildren deserve a clean world teeming with life – not a polluted, barren, overpopulated world of misery, poverty and violence.
We can still sing!

Lest we forget
We’re very good at it. Throughout history we storm through and kill everyone who is different. It probably started with the Neanderthals.
The Mongols were good at it.
In the modern times we have got industrial.
In South America and North America we used germ warfare – smallpox, chicken pox, flu, measles. There were no defences in the indigenous populations.
In Australia you could shoot aboriginals as if they were rabid dogs.
In New Zealand and the Philippines, everywhere we’ve gone. On the Crusades we slaughtered. On the Jihads we slaughtered.
All races, all places, all times, all people.
It’s in our genes!!
Right now we are still doing it!! ISIS is at it.
We are slaughtering trees, insects and animals, butchering our way around the world.
It’s time we stopped!
The trouble with politicians is that they are after your vote. They will say whatever they believe might win you over. They will promise the earth.
In the end they will cost us the earth.
My blog is different. I speak my mind and I don’t care what anybody thinks. What you get is me. Take it or leave it. I panda to no one.
If I think something is wrong I speak out.
If I think something is beautiful I record it.
I live to communicate and create. I live to change the world for the better.
You will probably agree with some and hate other bits. But that’s OK. I won’t lie. You know where you stand.
