Encourage our young girls to be rocket scientists not damned stupid princesses!!

I sometimes wonder what on earth has become of women’s liberation. Was it all about having the freedom to drink and have sex as freely as the lads? Or was there a deeper sense of equality?

Back in the 1970s they were rightly picketing the ‘Miss World’ contest for treating women as meat. Now they are supporting ‘Victoria’s Secrets’ lingerie catwalk.

Doesn’t this seem strange to you?

Sexualised young girls and paedophiles.

What a strange world we live in. I was listening to the debate on women’s hour today concerning the Victoria’s Secrets lingerie presentation.
Society seems to be remarkable confused concerning sexual matters.
On one hand we have the sexualisation of young girls who are encouraged to purchase uplifting bras and buy sexy pink knickers with NAUGHTY written on them and on the other hand we have draconian safeguarding where normal nonsexual touch is now a criminal offence, no photos of children can be displayed, and as a male you cannot talk to or look at children without being accused of being a paedophile. The courts and media have paedophiles being wheeled out of every closet.
What is going on?
Perhaps we should have a non-hysterical debate?
Perhaps we should support a new positive zeitgeist?

Sex!!! Part 8 – Sex in the modern world!

There is nothing wrong with sex! Sex is good. Sex is fun. Sex is natural.

Sex is also complicated and requires a great deal of responsibility.

It is important to use good contraception in order to avoid unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.

It is also important to realise the social implications. If you are in a relationship then having casual sex with someone else will create problems of trust.

In the past there were religious taboos. These were there from a number of reasons
a. They restrained female sexuality because females were capable of so much more than males (the ultimate in this misogyny can be seen with the mutilation of female genitalia in female circumcision)
b. They protected families and the upbringing of babies
c. The reduced sexually transmitted disease.
d. They reinforced religious values.

The end result of all this was misery.

We now have contraception and disease control so that we can indulge in the pleasant pleasures of sex without fear. Sex has come out of the closet where it was locked up with guilt, inhibition and misogyny. It can be enjoyed responsibly without creating a population explosion.

Let’s put an end to the misery of bastards, abortions, forced adoption, repression, guilt and ostracisation created by religious fanatics.

There’s a new age of responsible sex. We can have great relationships, satisfying sex and nurturing families where children prosper. It requires commitment, responsibility and care and respect for your partner.

The sad thing that has come out of all this religious repression and guilt is this association of sex with something dirty and painful. Sado-masochism has no place in sex. Sex is neither dirty of painful.

We can have uninhibited, responsible, fun sex that builts positive relationships.

Sex!!! Part 7 – Relationships and babies.

Because of our big brains babies take a long time to grow. They need a lot of nurturing and looking after. They take forever to become independent (around sixty years!)
Because of this they need two parents to provide the care, love and stimulation.
It’s bloody hard work.
Hence evolution has created a mechanism to ensure babies are brought up and cared for. It is pair-bonding. We call it love.
We fall in love and stay together. It’s all to do with hormones, pheromones and chemistry.
Being in love is a biological phenomenon evolved to keep two animals together long enough to bring their children up to an age when they are relatively independent (round about the age of sixty five!)
Being in love causes changes in brain chemistry resulting in euphoria, obsession with the partner and intense sexual stimulation. This great sex results in babies.
The intensity reduces but the relationship is fostered by this chemistry. It usually lasts for about seven years – long enough for a child to become relatively self-sufficient.
We need both partners to bring up a child.
In Africa they say that it takes a whole village to bring up a baby!

Sex!!! Part 6 – the female orgasm

Males have a puny orgasm. The female orgasm is thirty times greater.

There are good evolutionary reasons for this.

Firstly it is a good idea to exhaust the female so that she lies on her back for a period of time. This allows the sperm to be activated and swim out of the vagina into the relative safety of the uterus. If females got up and started walking about straight after sex then the sperm would end up on the floor.
Secondly the contractions of the uterus actively suck the sperm up into the uterus.

Hence it is a good idea for the male to come first and deposit the sperm prior to the female reaching an orgasm!

Evolution is a wondrous thing!!

The problem is that it has become too effective. Humans are no longer subjected to enough selection pressure. We have killed our predators, prevented disease and ensured lots of food and water. Hence we are producing more babies than we need and the population is spiralling out of control.

We need to put this right with intelligence.

Read about the effects of overpopulation in my book Anthropocene Apocalypse.

Sex!!! Part 4 – A woman’s choice.

Women choose who to have sex with!

Women can only have a limited number of children.
Men can father thousands.

Women make themselves attractive to lure in as many males as possible and then select which is the highest status male available.

Men home in on females and choose the highest status available. They are not so choosey.

Women are selecting mates for their genes. They want a high status male with good genes to join with their own so that their children have better survival opportunities. Women look for quality.

Men look for quantity. The more women they can impregnate the most chance they have of getting children (genes) into the next gene pool.

Sex!! Part 3 – Sex on land

When fish moved on land they had lots of problems. One was the common cloaca and the other was sex.

The common cloaca works in water but is not good on land. It is not good having faeces and urine in your vagina or urethra. It causes infections. Bacteria invade your tubing!
Evolution worked to separate the tubing so that there are still separate openings for faeces, urine and eggs but they are still closely bound together hence there is still contamination and infection. This is because we have evolved and not been created.

If there was a god who designed a system so poor as this then he was either incompetent, rather unpleasant or had a terrible sense of humour. Who else would put a sewer through the playground?

The first land fish (amphibians) had to go back to the water to breed.

The later land animals (Reptiles, Birds and Mammals) evolved to reproduce on land. They developed vaginas, penises and uteruses.
The male squirted the sperm into the females body so that they could swim to the eggs through her body fluids. Problem solved. The foetus could then either be laid in a protective egg or develop internally in the female.

It enabled the successful colonisation of land!

This is the result of human sex – loads of babies – overpopulation and destruction of the natural resources!

Or perhaps you like the religious inhibition of sex?

Perhaps you’d like a novel about the stupidity of religion?

Sex!!! Part 2

Fish have a common cloaca. The common cloaca is a chamber into which faeces, urine, sperm and eggs are all passed to be removed from the body. A common cloaca is not a problem for aquatic animals. Sexual reproduction is where gametes, sperm and eggs, join to form a zygote which develops into a new organism. Sexual reproduction, unlike asexual reproduction, enables variation. Variation is a good thing because it allows organisms to adapt to changing environments. Hence most organisms use sexual reproduction. Sexual reproduction is very easy in water. The female fish deposits her eggs on the river or sea bed. The male fish swims over the eggs and squirts sperm over them. The sperm swim through the water to fertilise the eggs. Easy!! This is the result of sex:
