It was a beautiful day to spend some time on the beach. It was warm. There were cliffs, rock pools, rocks and great expanses of sand.
No problems with social distancing here. Great Yorkshire scenery.
Today it was bright and sunny so I chose to do a longish walk of around 12 kilometres to Lowthorpe.
Out of the village
Down the back lane.
Off onto the track
All very overgrown since Spring. Lots of tall grass and hedgerow plants. All buzzing with flies, hoverflies, gnats and midges – food for birds and their young.
Along the back lane, it was the time for dog-rose in the hedgerows and poppies in the fields.
The trees were now fully clothed in their Summer finery.
This house looks grand with its exact dimensions and precision.
Swallows on the wires and butterflies on the flowers.
Into the village of Lowthorpe.
Back out along the lane back to Nafferton.
More butterflies; more trees.
Two chaffinches singing on the wires
And home again! Sorely in need of a cup of tea!! A great walk on a superb sunny day!
It reconnects us to nature. And nature has come alive during this pandemic!
It was a magnificent Spring day in Yorkshire. The sky was deep azure blue. The sun shone. There was a little chill in the air.
I like rocks.
Today’s walk started in the village. We were heading out for a long walk down the back lane to Lowthorpe – about 8 miles.
We were soon out of the village and on a trail across the fields.
It took us down a little path the May blossom was beautiful and formed an arch over our heads so that we appeared to be walking through a tunnel of white blossom.
We crossed the railway and along the lane.
Then we were on the low road to Lowthorpe. There were no cars or walkers – just the odd cyclist.
I was taken with the patterns in the fields created by the drilling. The crops were just beginning to show.
The trees were still dressed in their winter skeletons – just about to burst forth.
Some trees were adorned in their bright green – looking fresh and new.
Past the brooks and old farm houses.
A tent for visitors to stay in while cycling the Yorkshire Way.
An idyllic allotment in the middle of nowhere – a place to escape to and soak up time.
Fields of bright yellow rape with an old farmhouse and tree that have seen much history pass before them – back to the days of horses and carts.
Into Lowthorpe.
Off back down the track towards Nafferton.
There’s the church again in the distance!
The Yorkshire coast is beautiful. Full of wide-open beaches, white cliffs and sea-birds. Great place for a walk, paddle or swim.
It’s not packed and the wild-life is great.
Here’s a few piccies I took yesterday. We had a stroll up the cliffs and a pint or two in the pub!
War memorial to 158 Squadron at Lisset (581 airmen were killed from this one squadron.
Yorkshire is a beautiful county. The sun always shines.
I write and take shots in the hopes that we preserve all this beauty in nature for future generations to wonder at – and of course for all the other creatures that inhabit this planet with us. They are all as important as we are!! They need protecting and caring for!
