The Corona Diaries – Day 191

It’s Autumn, the sun is weaker, the light weaker, the grass is dying back and leaves are beginning to change colour. My eye is still troubling me with this painful photophobia. I work up in the night, looked at the time and the light from my watch sent stabbing pains in my eye. Not good.

But my thigh strain is almost better!

I stayed in all morning waiting for the BT engineer who never came. Couldn’t watch the football last night – TV won’t stream. Internet is on-off and slow and the phone cut out. That’s 4 engineer visits that have not materialised, along with 4 promised ring backs. This is a saga that’s been going on since March. Is this a record? Is it just BT?

I do need my internet. This is pathetic.

So this afternoon I took a very pleasant walk up my hill, picking blackberries on the way (brambles up here). The sun shined and it cheered me up.

Back in Coronaland Johnson admits that all his contradictory instructions have made things so complex nobody knows what they are meant to be doing. That puts us all in the same boat as him then!

Because of the spiralling virus cases, we are going to have the joy of a weekly Downing Street conference. Simply not good enough! In this time of great national crisis, we need a leader who talks to us daily – reassuring, instructing, advising. Instead we get a buffoon who is glimpsed laying bricks or in wellingtons and is prevented from opening his mouth because he keeps putting his foot in it.

So we have another 7108 new cases and 71 deaths. We have shutdowns in the North West, Birmingham and Leicester. We have an increasing number of people with lengthy or permanent damage to heart, lungs and brain.

Scientists are predicting up to 50,000 cases a day unless the government gets a grip on things.

More and more is coming out about the appalling mess of Brexit that the clown got us into. Already more has been spent than we paid into the EU since the beginning. Nobody spoke about an army of civil servants, huge new customs posts and an army of customs officers, massive new red-tape, tariffs, the south of England being transformed into a lorry park, increased food prices, food shortages, an end to scientific collaboration, having to spend billions producing our own inferior versions of sat navs, nuclear arrangements and terrorism information, car companies fleeing to Europe, a huge exodus of other companies, job losses, firms closing and worse working conditions, wages and environmental standards.

Wasn’t this all going to be the easiest deal ever and save us £350 million a week? Lies lies lies LIES LIES LIES!!!!

The other worrying thing is that in order to get Brexit we’ve ended up with a Tory government made up of rabid right-wingers (all the sensible ones like Rory Stewart were purged). All they care about is Brexit and everything else isn’t getting done. What a mess!

Of course, they’ll let Johnson get Brexit done, blame him and dump him – hoping that we’re all stupid enough to think they are wonderful.

We’ve got three more years of these inept extreme clowns. Try to stay safe!!

Today’s Music to keep me SSaAaAaNnnnnNeEee in Isolation – Johnny Burnette Rock ‘n’ Roll Trio

Well that Rock ‘n’ Roll trio could certainly rock. They were brilliant Rockabilly. Then he went and spoilt it by becoming a Teen Idol and producing crap pop songs.

I’m going to be playing the real stuff:

The Corona Diaries – Day 190

Today was quite bright at first, so I took my sore eye and thigh up the top of my hill quite early. I was wearing jeans and waterproof. It seems strange to think that just days ago I was still in shorts and a T-shirt. Those days are gone.

It is good to get out into the fresh air and nature. I have found it very revitalising. It has helped me stay sane in lockdown.

Needless to say, there was not much to see. Autumn is setting in. The vegetation is dying back. The roads are busy and nature is back in hiding. It was still good.

Back home I tried to get my BT internet going with another hour-long telephone complaint. Another engineer promised for tomorrow! Another manager call for next week.

I started work on my Harper book and played some Ray Charles.

Out in Coronaland it looks like Johnson is in trouble again. His own party are turning on him. They don’t like the way he, Cummings and his cronies are bypassing parliament. They don’t like the way he is handling covid-19. They don’t like his bumbling performances and incompetence. They can see he is beginning to be regarded as a buffoon. They don’t like the way they are slipping in the poles. They don’t like the general sloppiness. Johnson is beginning to be seen for what he is – a lazy, incompetent clown. He is a liability.

In an effort to keep them on board they are being promised a vote on the corona measures. It’s a climbdown that will only bring temporary reprise.

Everything is going to cock. The crowds are still out in the streets ignoring warnings. Few are being fined. 50% of the ones that are being fined are not paying up.

People are ignoring isolating when coming back from holiday or being informed of contact and there is no way of enforcing it.

Ever since the Cummings Barnard Castle fiasco people are ignoring them.

Meanwhile things are rapidly getting out of control with over 7000 new cases and deaths beginning to take off – 71 again! It is looking dire!!

Be in by 10.00 pm. You can’t catch it before!!

What a joke. They have no strategy.

Meanwhile in the States Biden has done well and Trump, increasingly desperate, shows his bullying side. The polls show a move to Biden. I reckon Trump’s bubbles burst. The latest news is that he is in debt to the tune of half a billion, can’t manage his finances and hasn’t paid taxes for ten years.

The lying conman is soon going to get his comeuppance one way or another. It is going to take a long time to undo the damage he has done!

You can’t undo the 122,000 deaths or hundreds of thousands of extremely ill people. There were another 36,847 cases today with another 918 deaths. The USA is becoming a basket case!

Brazil is not far behind – another 32,058 new cases and 863 deaths. I bet Bolsonaro is watching the US elections with consternation. He’s next in line.

Hopefully, the three incompetent clowns will all be kicked out soon!

Stay safe everyone! There’s a glimmer of hope!!

The Corona Diaries – Day 189

‘Yah yer arf you can meet up in er er no more than twenty arf arf, er er inside and sixty blah blah in a pub! So go on! yer yah yah, drink for Britain!’

‘And, what’s more yuk yuk, we’re bringing in a arf arf bally universe beating show for the kids. Yeah ummm er.  All those kids who left school, yuk arf um, without any yer yer qualifications, er er can now go back to college arf ar ar err in April and jolly well become rocket scientist!! Yep er em and architects! We’re er er going to train you. Cos, eh eh what Britain needs arf er um, is bally space technicians and jolly old architects!’

I can just see all those greasy kids flipping burgers and stacking shelves signing up. It is just possible that they did not get any qualifications for a reason. Probably they aren’t motivated or not very clever. It’s unlikely that we’re going to get the doctors, engineers and architects out of the ranks of those without any qualifications.

Is this another operation moonshot?? Heaven help us from these lunatics and their incompetent stupidity.

Today as our Covid new cases shot up to 7100 and deaths rose dramatically to 79, Johnson is talking pie in the sky baloney.

We have college students just starting courses locked in their rooms, we have schools closing right left and centre, we have track and trace failing, we have vaccine companies saying that the government is not talking to them about a mass vaccination programme, even if they produce it and they won’t be able to deliver, and our buffoon in chief is gabbing on about some expensive stupid scheme and hasn’t got a clue about the rules that he’s introduced!! He misspoke!!

He always misspoke! He’s a clown and a nincompoop.

What a bunch of tossers.

Meanwhile, in the USA, their buffoon in chief presides over another 33710 new cases and 344 deaths. Tonight he goes head to head with Biden. Bloody hell – any one of my High School students would have made mincemeat of him. He’s killed 122,000 Americans – heaven knows how many others are severely handicapped for life. He’s a racist bigot. He only represents a minority – many of whom are white supremacists or gun nuts. How hard can it be?

It has not been a good day. It was beautiful and sunny but I did not get to go for my walk. I had an emergency with my sore eye and had to spend the day in hospital with a little op. So, right now, I’m sore, fed up and frustrated.

You take care everyone!

The Corona Diaries – Day 188

The sun was shining today. That always makes you feel a bit better. What with Corona virus, Boris Johnson and Trump, with Brexit looming, I think I need a boost. My faith in humanity has been sorely tested!

My thigh strain is still nagging a bit so I limped around for a walk. My eye is playing up and I’ve got an appointment with the optometrist. Falling apart I guess.

So I went home, did some more work on the Harper book and played some Jack Elliott.

Out in Coronaland the circus continues with chief buffoon absent as usual.

We have students locked down in their rooms in halls of residence, we have 8000 pupils and 350 teachers all sent home from school isolating in Liverpool.

Completely unpredictable.

We have a third of the country in lockdown.

Completely unpredictable.

We have police having trouble breaking up large gatherings.

Completely unpredictable.

We have Trump and QAnon spreading hoax news and conspiracy.

Completely unpredictable.

We have a Track and Trace system that can’t even be tracked and traced.

Completely unpredictable.

We have Operation Moonshot, world-beating everything and over-ready everything else – all a bunch of off the cuff garbage and lies.

Completely unpredictable.

We are in the midst of a second wave.

Completely unpredictable.

We are being led by a bunch of extreme right-wing incompetent Tory, overprivileged twats.

Completely predictable!!!!!

Our new cases are soaring. Our death rate is going up. This is what you get when you put the loonies in charge!!!

5692 new cases and 17 deaths – Thanks Johnson.

In the USA – 3486 new cases and 267 deaths – meaning that Bolsonaro is moving ahead with 335 deaths!

The world is being run by a bunch of imbeciles!!! They can’t predict anything and haven’t a clue what to do about it.

Stay safe everyone.

The Corona Diaries – Day 187

Today was a bit warmer and we even saw a glimpse of sunshine. The wind has dropped – after it blew our fence down for the second time! I’ve tweaked a thigh muscle – which was a bit sore, so I limped my way up my hill and then went back to work on my book and play a bit of Nina Simone.

This isolation is becoming a drag. It would be great to meet up with friends, go to a gig or two or visit the cinema. The days are becoming so uneventful that they tend to melt into one another and drift past so quickly. I think it’s the lack of landmarks. There’s nothing to hang the days on. I’m incredibly busy but it’s all more of the same.

I notice that SAGE has recommended to the government that all people over 45 years old (more vulnerable) should stay at home. Of course, they follow scientific advice only when it suits them.

Meanwhile, fake news from Trump and QAnon continues to gain purchase. People are convinced the virus was manufactured in a Chinese lab despite scientists saying there is no evidence of any bioengineering and showing the clear connection to the method of transmission – wild animals in wet markets – just like Ebola, SARS and MERS.

In Birmingham, which is in lockdown due to a high number of cases, police have had to break up parties, raves and sent people home from pubs, snooker halls, and pubs.

I think we’ve reached a point where many people just don’t care. Some of them might come to regret that. With another 6042 new cases, more hospital admissions and 20 deaths, we are looking at a miserable winter.

Not as bad as in the States or Brazil though.

The US is being ravaged – over 7.3 million have contracted the disease with deaths standing at 209,233. Yesterday saw another 45,752 new cases and 737 deaths. Not many people talk about the people who have suffered long-term damage to lungs, heart and brain. There’s not much reporting on that.

In Brazil there were another 28,378 cases and 869 deaths

Well done Trump and Bolsonaro! I’m sure all those dead and severely damaged people are grateful to you.

Abroad they are using trained sniffer dogs to hunt pout infected people. Why can’t we do that?

Stay safe everyone!
