Tory callousness – Not the way to deal with the immigration problem. Ship refugees to Rwanda at massive cost!!!!

Shipping refugees out to some stalag in Rwanda at colossal expense is not the way to deal with this difficult problem!

There has to be better, more compassionate ways than this!

Poetry – Who to Venerate

Who to Venerate

Who should we venerate?

                The murderers and the thieves?

                                The warmongers, slavers

Exploiters and the chiefs?

Why not the poets

                The artists, musicians

                                And the dancers?

The people who create

                Not the selfish arrogant chancers.

Put the statues of generals

                Into the museum

Next to a statement of the facts

So that everyone can see them.

Opher 5.1.2022

The statues we erect are statements about who we value.

The kings, queens, generals and wealthy merchants.

All they represent is power and wealth.

It’s time we dumped these self-serving exploiters into museums.

We should be venerating the creative people – the artists, musicians, dancers, writers, poets and designers.

We should be venerating the compassionate ones – the doctors, nurses, carers.

We should be venerating the ones who care about the planet – the environmentalists, the biologists and ecologists.

We humans have our priorities all wrong.

The intelligence and wonder of animals

Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so badly off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her…. a very dangerous proposition. One slap of the tail could kill a rescuer. They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, nudged them, and pushed gently, thanking them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives. The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.

May you be so fortunate to be surrounded by people who will help you get untangled from the things that are binding you. And, may you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude πŸ™

Poetry – One Globe

One Globe

One globe

One life

One people

One cell

Once

Opher 16.9.2018

I had this idea that we are all one. We are one people – all humans – one big family. All life on this planet is one bigger family – every plant and animal all based on the same DNA. We all came from that one miraculous cell that somehow was created out of that primordial soup. This is one majestic planet – the seat of life – is immense. Maybe it is the only one.

This might all have only happened once. Of all the zillions of planets it happened here.

Poetry – Take Heart

Take Heart

Take heart from the ones whose hearts are large,

Whose eyes see with soft glow

And whose hands caress and care.

For they are the ones who know

That they live within a mystery,

On a journey within wondrous lands

Where everything is a marvel

And everything has worth.

Take heart from those who see and care

And adore all that they behold

For they would build and love and feel

And so turn everything to gold.

Take heart from the ones who appreciate

That everything has its place

From sun, moon and mountain

To gnat, flea and worm.

Opher 16.6.2018

We opened our eyes into a beautiful universe. We came from nothing and will return to nothing. In the meantime we have all this and we take it for granted. It is so wondrous.

There are those who can see that wonder all around us. Those are the ones we should take heart from. They are living.

There are those who would look to build, to make things better, to provide a pleasant word or helping hand. They are the ones we should take heart from. They are worth so much more than the mindless nasty types.

There are those who realise the incredible wonder of every living thing. They see the amazing wonder of our evolution and our place within the spectrum of life. We should take heart from them.

So here’s to the positive forces that live among us!

Well Done Marcus Rashford!!

Marcus is a person who has put a lot of time and effort into helping others. He’s used his status and position to do good things. One has to respect that!

He has shamed the Tories into taking care of children in abject poverty. To their eternal shame the Tories are presiding over a country in which a staggering four million children live in poverty. Two thirds of them live in working families who simply do not earn enough. Poor wages have become a symptom of Tory rule. For the world’s sixth richest country that is appalling.

During these hard days of Covid 19, with families being thrown out of work and life becoming harder, those food vouchers are a lifeline. The government simply did not care.

It took a footballer to bring it to everyone’s attention. Good for Marcus Rashford!! More power to him!!

While the fascist racist thugs are out on the streets with their selfish agenda, caring people like Marcus are doing their thing for a better country.

Hopefully the man hasn’t forgotten his roots and this concern is genuine. I think it is.

Well done Marcus Rashford!! There will be millions of children who will be indebted to you!! (Could you also put in a few goals in the next few weeks??)

Tories incapable of displaying a caring attitude!!

With the immense anguish and suffering of the people of the Grenville Flats it was paramount that our government displayed compassion.

Theresa May went down and met with the Fire Chiefs and avoided the public.

Jeremy Corbyn went down and met with the people, heard the anger, saw the grief and expressed his sympathy.

Enough said.

Jo Cox – A martyr for compassion and caring for the disadvantaged.

Some politicians are not in it for the power and greed. Some politicians are full of compassion and integrity. They care for people and they want to make the world a better place.

Violence is never an answer. We’ve seen that with the hideous actions of terrorists. We have to find a way to love, tolerate and care for each other. That is the way forward – together! One family.

My thoughts go out with sadness to all Jo’s family and friends.
