New Year Resolutions

I don’t have any New Year Resolutions. I want to go on the same.

This year I would like to stay healthy, travel the world, see wonderful sights, take lots of photographs, read lots of books, see my friends more often, love my family and help make their lives better, write lots of books, set up my own publishing company, go to gigs, listen to music, share food and drink, share ideas and bask in the joy of nature.

This year I don’t want bastards like Trump, Farage, Xi, Netanyahu and Putin to dominate my thoughts!

I don’t need to resolve to do that. I’ll just do it to the best of my ability!

Elect Billionaires – they really care!

Is Your Child a Far-Left Extremist??

When did we change from thinking that caring and compassion were good things?

When did we decide that life was all about greed and selfishness?

When did we decide that hate was better than love?

I Don’t Want To Live In This World

The Anthropocene Apocalypse

For anybody who cares for nature this book is a must. This is written by somebody who loves animals in the wild and despairs at the degradation of the environment that he has witnessed first-hand in his life-time. You reel at the cruelty and thoughtlessness, the stupidity and crass superstition. You boggle at the numbers of this mad population explosion that is to blame. You can see the panic setting in as we career towards an inevitable human catastrophe. Yet it is not all doom and gloom. The passion rips through your heart and the fury saddens you. But also in there is the ecstasy and love of the wonder that is this planet with its bountiful treasure-trove of nature. We write so that it may not come true. This book is not a mass of scientific facts or boggling information; it is one mans view from the vantage point of a long life of what is happening to this jewel of a planet. It is also a book about hope; hope that we can use our intelligence to put a stop to this pollution and cruelty before it is too late. There are ways we can make it work. They are outlined. The way forward is clear. All that is needed is the will to make it happen. If you care about the planet you should read this. It will change your life. Hopefully it will also change the world for the better!

This is a passionate and always readable book conceived in love, gestated over a lifetime of travel and naturalism, born in a burst of anger and hope. There are many vivid accounts of places visited, focusing on their flora and fauna, with plenty to celebrate and much to fear. Pointers for the future are given and I’d like to have had even more detail of these. But this is a book to inspire social change. The message is that we all need to work on the solutions. This is a valuable and timely book which throws down the gauntlet in our desperate search for survival and sustainability.

Well Done Marcus Rashford!!

Marcus is a person who has put a lot of time and effort into helping others. He’s used his status and position to do good things. One has to respect that!

He has shamed the Tories into taking care of children in abject poverty. To their eternal shame the Tories are presiding over a country in which a staggering four million children live in poverty. Two thirds of them live in working families who simply do not earn enough. Poor wages have become a symptom of Tory rule. For the world’s sixth richest country that is appalling.

During these hard days of Covid 19, with families being thrown out of work and life becoming harder, those food vouchers are a lifeline. The government simply did not care.

It took a footballer to bring it to everyone’s attention. Good for Marcus Rashford!! More power to him!!

While the fascist racist thugs are out on the streets with their selfish agenda, caring people like Marcus are doing their thing for a better country.

Hopefully the man hasn’t forgotten his roots and this concern is genuine. I think it is.

Well done Marcus Rashford!! There will be millions of children who will be indebted to you!! (Could you also put in a few goals in the next few weeks??)

Person, Social, Health and Sex Education is the heart of a school!

PublicSchools

If a school does not have a thriving PSHE programme with circle time, caring programmes, Student Voice and Pastoral Care at its heart it is a resounding failure.

Forget your learning outcomes, teaching for careers and results; it is caring for students that is the most important thing of all.

If schools do not care and nurture children we end up with a heartless, cut-throat society where the weak go under, the strong claw their way to the top and it is dog-eat-dog.

I believe every child is important.

There’s more to education than force-feeding facts for results!
