So what’s May going to do now?

Having been trounced and humiliated one would think that a bit less pig-headedness would not go amiss.

The only reason she is still there is because there is no credible leader in the wings, nobody who could hold the Tories together. They are tottering and on the verge of falling apart.

Yet obstinate May will press on arrogantly pushing her own agenda.

Any sign of humility? No.

For someone who has just suffered the biggest defeat in Britain’s long political history it is almost beyond belief that she remains. She has no credibility left. She can’t control parliament and has lost control of her own party. If she had any honour she’d go.

Not only that but she lies through her teeth. She’s doing it for the good of the country. Bollocks. It has always, right from the start, been about her hanging on to power and the Tory Party. It has never been about the country. Liar Liar Liar!!

So now we are left with three choices:

  1. She invites Jeremy Corbyn and other leaders to join together to hammer out a deal which will be a form of Brexit that would both get through Parliament and be acceptable to the EU. That would probable be remaining in the Single Market and Customs Union.

2. She accepts that parliament cannot make a decision and puts it back to the people to decide.

3. She stubbornly hangs on to her stupid red lines and we end up crashing out and doing great harm to the country.

Is she going to put the country first?

I’m sick to death of the silly woman telling us what the country voted for. How the hell, in a binary vote and such a narrow margin, can anyone tell what people voted for? Some voted for one thing and some another.

If one takes any one of the issues – single market, customs union, sovereignty, freedom of movement, whatever, I would suggest that none of them had a majority of the public. To suggest otherwise is pig-headed, blinkered and outrageous. Everyone had their own reasons.

For the good of the country do what is right!

May!! Get on your Bike! You’ve messed up!

I don’t think the woman has any honour! She certainly doesn’t have a shred of credibility!

Her government has now suffered the worst defeat in political history –  crushed by 432 votes to 202, a historic defeat!!

Any honourable person would resign. She’s a dead duck.

Any honourable party would jettison her!

For two and a half years she has made mistake after mistake, mess after mess, and simultaneously brought the country into crisis!

Shame on her and shame on the callous Tories and their nasty uncaring ideology! A plague on all their houses!

We need a General Election but I am quite sure that the loathsome Tories, with the aid of the DUP, will put aside their morality and cling on to power. That’s what they do.

So where do we go from here?

A new referendum? – Yes please! Let’s have a chance to put democracy into action and show what we think now all the lies are laid bare.

A deal in parliament? – Well the only one that will gain consensus is one that keeps us in the Single Market and Customs Union and thus won’t decimate our economy! – That’s second choice for me!

A No-Deal Brexit? – The height of stupidity and foolishness that would do immense damage to our economy. Only ideological fools support this. Let’s hope MPs aren’t stupid enough to allow it to happen. It would be a disaster and we’d never forgive them!

Well I’m certainly sick and tired of threats! We are constantly told that a second referendum is not democratic and that if we have one there will be civil unrest! Well I’m not one for allowing right-wing thugs to set any agenda! If they promise violence lock them up! We shouldn’t let threats of violence get in the way of democracy!

Today saw a just result – a resounding defeat for an obstinate, obdurate and foolish woman who has led us up the garden path and made a complete and utter cock up!

That is phase one of my ideal day! Let’s hope that tomorrow brings phase two and three – the collapse of the vile Tory government and the resignation of May.

My Ideal Day!! We can but dream!

Well today is a huge day for the future of our country! Let us hope that things go right for once! There certainly hasn’t been much to cheer about for a few years now. But today it could start going right!

Today parliament are voting on May’s deal. That could trigger a whole series of events that would certainly lift the spirits of the nation and put us back on the road to recovery.

Here’s is what I dearly wish will happen:

  • May’s fudge of a deal is decisively thrown out.
  • May resigns.
  • The Tory Party split – never to regain power again.
  • There is a General election.
  • Article 50 is revoked.
  • Labour win the election and form a truly Labour Government.
  • Austerity is ended, Tax loopholes are plugged, inequality is addressed, our public services are repaired, the poor are not demonised. Fairness is the mantra for Britain once again.
  • There is a second referendum and the idea of leaving is firmly crushed.
  • We get back to making Britain a pleasant land to live in.

We can but dream!

Brexit – What the people in Beverley Think!

Beverley in the strongly Leave East Riding of Yorkshire has changed its mind!!

Beverley does not want any part of Boris and Mogg’s nightmare or May’s Deal!! They want to stay.

Here’s the results of the Street Polling!!

When presented with a simple choice of three options Beverley people show they have radically changed their mind.

They think May and her government have made a complete mess of things. They Think Boris and Mogg led them up the garden path.

THEY WANT A PEOPLES’ VOTE!!! THEY WANT TO REMAIN!!!

It is utterly decisive!! Stay got double the votes of Leave!!

We want a peoples vote! We want to end this costly mess and get the country back on track!

The Will of the People!!

We are constantly being told by aggressive Brexiteers that we’ve had the vote it is the will of the people!

Bollocks!!

The will of the people is to remain in the EU. Brexiteers are scared of a second vote because they know they’d lose it heavily. People have seen through their lies. The glorious Brexit they were promised it unobtainable. The Brexit we would get will break the country for nothing.

A recent YouGov poll showed exactly what the will of the people was. The Brexiteer areas were reduced to a few hardline Tory areas!

600 constituencies want to Remain

30 want to leave with No Deal

2 want to leave with May’s Deal.

People have woken up to the appalling incompetence of the whole government Brexit negotiations. They have woken up to the bonkers position of the extreme right Brexiteers.

The people want an end to this farce. They want to stay in the EU! That’s the will of the people!

What should the stupid politicians do now??

Well it is the stupidity of the Tory Party that has got us into this Brexit mess.

The question is how are we going to get out of the mess? How are we going to reconcile the two furious sides?

It seems obvious to me that we are going to have to ask to postpone leaving the EU until such time as we know what we want.

May should resign. She has been the incompetent leader who has led us into this cul-de-sac. Her stubbornness, intransigence and poor decision making has created this mess.

We should have a general election.

The Labour Party should get off the fence and fight the election on Remaining.

We should have another Peoples Vote.

The referendum should not be binary. It should give an indication of what type of Brexit the people might want.

If they vote to stay in we end the painful fiasco.

If they vote to leave the EU we have a better idea of what sort of Brexit we are going for.

A cross-party group is formed to form a consensus.

We negotiate with the EU to get a deal that will be a compromise that will get through parliament and represent the views of the whole country – not just one group!

The utter incompetence of our politicians – a litany of mistakes!!

The whole Brexit business has split the country into warring tribes. It has already cost us a fortune, prolonged austerity and the worst is yet to come.

The Tories have made a complete pig’s ear out of it all. Every step along the way they have done the wrong thing.

  1. Cameron should never have pandered to the far right nationalists.
  2. Cameron and Osborne should never have called a referendum on something as complex as this.
  3. The referendum should never have been a binary referendum.
  4. The option to leave, on such a momentous event, should never have been a simple majority.
  5. The campaign should never have been so badly run, so lacking in detail, so complacent – so badly prepared.
  6. Once the referendum was done Cameron and Osborne should have stayed on to deal with the mess they had made instead of running away.
  7. May should never have pandered to her right-wing nationalists.
  8. May should never have drawn up her red lines.
  9. May should have formed a cross-party Brexit group representing all views and all the country to sort out how to go out.
  10. May should never have triggered article 50 before arriving at consensus on how we wanted to go out.
  11. Brexit is not Brexit. Brexit is many types of Brexit. This stupid phrase should not have been repeated as if everyone agreed with what May meant by it. There was a very diverse view of what Brexit meant.
  12. May should never have put Davies in charge of negotiating.
  13. May should have realised that she had no chance of getting her version of Brexit through parliament without cross party consensus and involvement and spent two years of wasted negotiation.
  14. The 48% of the population who voted Remain should not have been completely ignored.

Now we are in a complete mess. The shit has hit the fan. We are at an impasse. There is no consensus. The country is split. Firms are leaving. There is no investment. We are paralysed.

What a bunch of incompetent political morons!! Could they have handled it any worse??

The Reason for Brexit and Trump.

As I perceive it the working class in both the UK and USA has been left behind. They used to be respected as the salt of the earth. They had hard, messy, dirty, dangerous jobs that were well paid and respected – mining, oil, ship building, car construction, steel, power work, factory work, dockers, truck driving. Those jobs are going. Globalisation has already taken many of these jobs abroad. Mechanisation has reduced the need for a workforce. AI will take the rest of those jobs. New technology, such as alternative energy, has superseded the old dirty technology. We no longer need all these miners, dockers, factory workers. They have been moved into low-paid, mundane work – stacking shelves in supermarkets, delivering parcels. It is work that is low paid and lacks respect.

Their way of life has gone. They no longer have the pay. They no longer have the respect. Their communities are crumbling. They do not have the skills to retrain into Hi-Tec work. they feel neglected, let down and abandoned.

They have been.

Politicians went for things that drove the economy. They focussed on the money. Unfortunately they forgot the people.

The money has all poured up to the wealthy investors and away from ordinary people.

They brought in cheap labour from abroad to do the low-pay, boring work to maximise profits.

They did not put in place any meaningful work for our own displaced workers that would command respect from the rest of the community. They overlooked the pride and sense of community in the workforce that was no longer required. They effectively dumped the working class.

What the result of this revolution in AI/Globalisation/mechanisation has been is a large number of angry, frustrated and embittered workers who have lost their self-respect, lost their purpose in life and feel unwanted and let down.

The perception is that the country has gone to the dogs, it was much better in the past, the lousy politicians have sold them down the river.

They are angry with the influx of immigrants who have undercut them and keep pay levels down.

They are angry that their jobs have gone.

They are angry that factories have gone abroad where workers’ pay is lower and health and safety and environment rules are less stringent.

They are angry at the new technologies that are replacing the old.

They are angry about mechanisation and A/I that is taking away their jobs.

They are angry about being unemployed, having no money, having to do menial tasks and their loss of respect.

They are angry at the immoral politicians who have lined their own pockets and ignored what is happening to the ordinary people.

Then Brexit and Trump come along.

Brexit was an opportunity for them to vent their spleen and shout out about the immigrants, the lousy politicians and the EU who have overseen the system.

Trump comes along and promised to keep the old industries going, denied there is any global warming necessitating a move to alternative energy, and offered a war against immigration.

Out of frustration, anger and impotence they turned to populist politicians, with their simplistic answers, who offered a shred of hope.

Brexit offers a return to a past that didn’t exist. Somehow we could stop all immigration, get rid of the millions of immigrants who have taken our jobs, make Britain great again, get the country working for the working class again and everything would be alright. The blame for what has gone wrong could be placed on the unelected bureaucrats of Brussels. We had the Dunkirk spirit. We could be great again.

Trump offered to keep coal, oil, steel and gas going. Ignore pollution and global warming. He told them it was all lies. He promised to build walls to stop immigrants flooding in and taking jobs and to drain the swamp of corruption. He’d put America first and make it great again. We’d go back to the good old days where the working class were paid well and respected.

Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way.

Global warming is real.

Pollution is real.

We do not need the old polluting technology. The world is changing over to new clean technology.

AI is going to take away all those jobs.

It is ironical to think that Brexit and Trump will actually accelerate the decline of the working classes. Following a brief resurgence there will be an acceleration in their decline.

Global warming and climate change will exacerbate the mass migration. The more pollutants pumped out the faster the process.

The tax cuts brought in by Trump went straight to the top end. The inequality grows. They will take that money out of the system – usually abroad where they can invest at higher rates.

The swamp is far from being drained. Trump is merely adding his own swamp to the existing one. The swamp is getting bigger.

The corporate elite still control the world, have no restrictions, and are exploiting workers and stuffing their loot in tax havens. The environment is being destroyed, poverty and war are being used as tools and their control is ever greater. Trump and the Right-Wing capitalists who ran the Brexit campaign, are the very people who created the problem and who are benefitting.

It doesn’t have to be like this.

In my view we need to do a number of things:

Control the corporate elite;

Stop the environmental damage;

Stop the tax havens;

Have a global progressive taxation system;

Reduce inequality (not remove it);

Provide meaningful jobs which have respect;

Stop politicians milking the system;

Bring in new technology and AI to benefit ordinary people;

Stop overpopulation;

Have a global perspective.

The world is changing. We have to move with it. Allowing populists, who represent the worst, to run things is a recipe for disaster.

This is the time where we have to stand for higher ideals and demand a fairer society – not support the selfish, greedy people who are directing it for their own gain.

The Desert of Dreams

The Desert of Dreams

Stuck in limbo – in the desert of dreams –
The future on hold and nothing quite as it seems.
The promised land that is spread before us –
An oasis of green – a mirage of dust.
Scared by Muslims, terrorists and Poles
We’ve forsaken the light – crawled back in our holes!
Marching with fascists through the streets of our town,
Searching for answers in which we can drown.
Fed on lies, deceit and false hope;
They are handing us all the right length of rope!
The future now looks like a maggoty corpse
As Britain veers downwards on its new senseless course!

Who’ll take your place?

Who’ll take your place?

Who’s it going to be?

Who’ll take your place?

In the leadership election –

The leadership race?

They’ll stab and boot

With ruthless glee,

Leaving us wondering

Who it’s going to be.

Mogg or Johnson?

They’re all lining up!

Hunt or Javid?

With the devil they’ll sup

To get their hands on

The reins of power;

They’ll sell your grandmas

Until it all goes sour.

They’ll promise the earth

To every last man

And lie through their teeth

As only politicians can.

Behind the mask of sincerity

They’re plotting to screw you and me!

They’re all the same – Tory scum!

Arrogant bastards every one!
