This was the end of Part 1. I wanted a mystical ending that linked in to the Flux from which all things are born.

If I was writing this now I would not have made the mystical so prominent. My beliefs have altered over time. I no longer subscribe to the view that there is a force that we are part of. There may be. There may not. To me it is immaterial. But I wrote this in my youth when I was all fired up with a mystical purpose to life.

But this stands as what it was. I enjoyed it. Part 2 is a short section that concludes the first book.

I am the boundaries you impose

I am the unending road you walk

I am the gateway you have never found

I am the garden that lies within

Poetry – Infinity 11 – Nothing is a magic number

We’re all standing on an endless beach, under a star, beside an infinite sea. Beyond the horizon is forever. The sky goes on forever. Below us is forever.

There is a microcosm of miniscule bursts of energy – the atoms, quarks, higgs boson and strange, electrons and space. A quantum universe of weirdness, string theory and things that are stranger than we can imagine. Inner space is as weird as black holes and neutrinos. The space between atoms is, relatively, bigger than the space between the stars.

On a layer between the infinite macrocosm and infinite microcosm is the layer of finity that we inhabit. It is probably more unreal than anything else. We live an illusion. My twenty year old self was arrogant enough to believe that he was shedding light on mysteries with paintbrushes of words that captured ideas beyond words.

Infinity 11 – Nothing is a magic number

I am the explanation of beyond

I am the mingling of within

I am the soul of man

I am the book of life

Open me and I will answer

I am the perpetual question

Poetry – Infinity 10 – A pebble into the void

By popular demand – from Anna and Cheryl – another pebble into the emptiness of the void. A young man’s attempt to wrestle with the eternal questions that reside in the pit of forever, the emptiness of nothing and the length of a piece of string.

I had the time, energy and enthusiasm to wrestle with the substance of infinity when I was twenty. I wasn’t this cynical misery I now am. I thought I could make gold out of iron and divine the meaning of the universe.

These infinity poems were my revelations.

Nirvana or bust!

Infinity 10 – A pebble into the void

I am concentration surpassed

I am the rising and falling of insight

I am the hallucination of form

I am a fantasy of splendour

No thoughts do I possess.

I am the feeling that the poet knows

I am the strength of the warriors arm

I am the beauty of a summer’s day

I am the trinity of power

What you have of me I gave

Poetry – Infinity 9 – more – seemingly endless excursions

I think this is the last one of these I’ll do for a while. I bet you’re getting fed up with them.

I had fun with them though. I was mining a vein of ore that I had homed in on. Infinity just enthralled me for ages. It was a very intriguing concept and seemed to underpin poetry, mysticism, creativity and life. At the time I was very into Eastern mysticism, Robert Graves and Buddhism – hence all the allusions.

Infinity 9 – An endless excursion

I am the courage of the abyss

I am the patience of the void

I am the deepest water

I am the roughest wave

Only the muse can know my name

 

I have allegiance to none

I am unopposable

I am the lord of all creation

I am the domain of the transcedendant

Could sacrifice move me?

 

I am a world of indifference

Poetry – Infinity 8 – An instant in time

That’s all we are – an instant in time – here and gone forever. A necklace of moments strung into some semblance of continuity.

Life is merely about maximising the wonder of each of those moments. We live them, waste them and love them.

Life is what we fill our moments with. I like to fill mine with as much as I can cram in. Life is about doing, being, feeling, loving, wonder and awe.

Even mountains only last a moment.

This is infinity:

Infinity 8 – An instant in time

I am the harbinger of doom

I am the harper of reality

I am the folded paper

I am the greatest strength

The power to wilt

 

I am Hercules and the Triple Goddess

I am forever and a day

I am Apollo and the great wealth

I am all that defies description

I am the will ‘o the wisp

I am the witches lesson

I am the herb’s power

Only the bard can glimpse my shroud

Infinity Two – the sequel

I wrote a lot of these.

I am not sure if you can have a second infinity? But in an infinite universe everything is possible. I probably created a poem about a polyverses system.

I had this idea that somehow finite could not exist within infinity. That all we could measure was inaccurate. If you took a finite object it contained infinity within it. It seemed to invalidate reality and make me question existence. To me it added a mystical dimension that was beyond science, maths and everyday life.

The universe was infinite.

The world we inhabited was an illusion. There was more to it than we could see, know or understand.

I think it is how religions are born.
Infinity Two – the sequel

I am the greatness of nature.

I am the vastness of a microbe.

I am the creator of philosophy.

I am the ridiculer of man’s achievements.

Without me there is not even nothing.

 

I am worshipped in many forms from afar

I am the element that science shies from

I am the only truth.

I am the only thing you cannot test.

I defy your principles.

Without me your experiments would always work.

New Religion – Opherism. Become an Oph today! You know it makes sense!

I’m starting up a new religion. It is called Opherism. All people who follow it are Ophs.

It is simple.

a. You do not have to believe in any god but you can if you want (whatever you like).

b. Love each other

c. Help each other when you can

d. Do not do anything unpleasant to anyone or any living creature (trees included)

e. Look after the planet

f. Look after all living things

g. Make yourself and everyone else happy whenever you can

h. Be creative – dance, sing, paint, write, make music, build things, do drama – whatever!

I. Do not indoctrinate your children

j. Reject hatred, violence and negative thought – war, murder and intolerance are evil.

k. Stand up and argue for what you believe is right

l. Listen

M. Question everyone and everything – especially political, religious, business and charismatic leaders – (including anything I’ve ever said), and weigh it up – if it conflicts with any of the above then don’t take any notice, don’t do it and tell people why.

All living things are equally important. We have one beautiful planet. We need to keep it sustained for all things to share. The universe is awesome and beautiful we should appreciate it.

That will do for now. We’ll see if that makes the world better!
