I am your healing waters

I am your warning fires

I am the green that smiles

I am the flesh that feeds

In some things I am more apparent

 

I am as swift as thought

I am as far reaching as gravity

I am as silent as a dark night

I am as deadly as opinion

Could I be the only reality?

 

I am a call on the wind

I am a voice in the dark

I am a tug on the sleeve

I am the wise man’s dream

Find me in the centre of the sun

 

I am the vision of the toadstool

I am the dream of the pipe

I am the insight of silence

I am the orgasm of the night

I sometimes find this hard to believe that I was twenty when I wrote this. Each line is a poem to mediate on. It was designed to have ambiguity in that there were multiple meanings contained within the arrangements of the words.

I’m enjoying it.

I am that you take seriously

I am that you fail to understand

I am the perplexity in your order

I am concealed from your eyes

You leave me for illusion

 

I am a raging torrent

I am a stormy wind

I am the echo of a warning

I am the sacrifice you make

Before me is nothing

 

I am that you cannot learn

I am that you cannot remember

I am only experienced

I am only discovered

Once known never forgotten

 

I am never beginning

I am never ending

I am the moment

I am lost in the hour

In me all things dwell

 

I am beyond analysis

I am always whole

I have no fractions

I have no parts

In me all things flow

 

I am that which I am

I have no components

I am in constant germination of myself

I feel you as an unborn foetus

You are not of me

 

I am your reality

I am your illusion

I am within and without

I am ignored yet always studied

My Weird Sixties Surreal Book – Chapter 54 – Endgame poem

This was the end of Part 1. I wanted a mystical ending that linked in to the Flux from which all things are born.

If I was writing this now I would not have made the mystical so prominent. My beliefs have altered over time. I no longer subscribe to the view that there is a force that we are part of. There may be. There may not. To me it is immaterial. But I wrote this in my youth when I was all fired up with a mystical purpose to life.

But this stands as what it was. I enjoyed it. Part 2 is a short section that concludes the first book.

I am the boundaries you impose

I am the unending road you walk

I am the gateway you have never found

I am the garden that lies within

You may seek me for eternity

 

I am that most men have turned from

I am the reason for all suffering

I am beyond pain and ugliness

I am the pattern of ecstasy

Without me there is civilisation

 

I am half of your schizophrenia

I am the answer to your paradox

I am forever beyond your mathematics

I am that for which there are no symbols

To me you will always return

 

I am more in the spaces than the words

I am more present in the buzz of interference

I am removed from your gadgetry

I am eradicated from your thought

You cannot escape me

 

I am misused in words and deeds

I am often scorned and ridiculed

I am beyond your pettiness

I am what your religions have lost

Greater truth than you can imagine resides with me
