It’s a beautiful planet we live on with its broad expanses of waters, cooling breezes and green vegetation.
It’s a jewel.
Life runs free on that rich soil.
This is the world we evolved on. A symbiotic web of life that is all sustaining.
This is the goldilocks planet.
There is so much beauty and wonder crammed into a tiny corner of the galaxy.
We need to breathe it in every now and then, to feel its awesome strength and relish its unlikely marvels. The fact that we are here at all is incredible.
To have the consciousness to appreciate its splendours is something to celebrate.
A mere second in this place is worth a billion years of oblivion.
It is still very blowy and cold up here in Yorkshire. I went for a longer walk with my mate Nic. We wandered up onto the Wolds, got rained on and came back in sunshine!
You might notice that the whole world is now a working remarkably better. That is because Nic and I have sorted it all out!
Back home I have been editing my Harper book (76 more pages to go). I’ve written a page or two of my Sci-fi novel and have been entertaining myself with some excellent Sonny Boy Williamson!!
There are not enough hours in the day.
Meanwhile – out there in Coronaland I note the Tory Party is taking greater charge of the media. Their takeover of the BBC is now complete. Their appointed man has started to purge all left-leaning programmes under the guise of removing bias. What a joke!! The latest casualty is the MASH Report. It seems that satire taking a swipe at Brexit and the government is out.
The BBC has cancelled The Mash Report, the satirical show that became the focus of criticism over perceived left-wing bias in the corporation’s comedy output.
The programme, hosted by Nish Kumar and featuring Rachel Parris, below, regularly targeted the Government and Brexit.
The BBC, like nearly all the newspress is now a propaganda machine for the Tory Party – and they call this a democracy?????
They’ll be shutting this blog down soon!!!
The current corona situation is:
Country
New cases yesterday
Deaths from Covid-19 yesterday
USA
62,689
1,522
UK
6,753
181
Brazil
75,412
2,233
New Zealand

0
Vietnam

What can we learn from this?
The situation in the UK and USA has improved but is still far too high.
The situation in Brazil is completely out of control – Bolsonaro (like Trump and Johnson) is a fool. He has allowed the virus, his little flu, to get out of control. It is now a breeding ground for lethal mutant variants.
The situation in Vietnam and New Zealand is under control.
Vietnam and New Zealand know what they are doing. The USA, UK and Brazil haven’t got a clue.
We could learn from them!!
Here in the UK the roll-out of the vaccine has been seen as a light in the darkness. We can see the end of the journey. Or can we? The deaths have come tumbling with the vaccine. The hospital cases have tumbled too. All great stuff. Government popularity has surged. People are fickle. They forgive the dithering, incompetence and bad decision making. They even forgive the corruption and cronyism. Just as long as they can get out of lockdown it doesn’t matter. 125,000 unnecessary deaths due to bad government, billions of pounds wasted and given to Tory friends. Never mind. All is forgiven.
We are beginning to come out of lockdown.
Except – we could be heading for a huge third wave that will kill more than the other two!
As all the vaccinated people start to mingle the virus will be passed around and take a heavy toll on those who are unvaccinated (particularly the vulnerable antivaxxers) and the small minority of the vaccinated for whom the vaccine has not produced immunity. That is millions of people!
Then we have the variants to consider.
Then we have Long Covid to come to terms with.
For me, already vaccinated, I feel safe. I now have a small risk. I’m looking forward to getting my freedom back – travel, friends, cinema, gigs. For the country – it’s still dire!!
I do not know who first said this. But it is true. Nobody has all the answers. There is no faith or book of wisdom that contains all the answers. Science doesn’t have all the answers.
Prefer to listen to someone who says they don’t know but they’d like to find out!
So – Never trust anyone who tells you they have all the answers. They are helpless brainwashed fanatics.
People who claim to have the answers are always very dangerous. They are misguided. If they are charismatic that is even worse!!
I would add to that:
Don’t trust anybody who has no answers. They are likely to be fools.
Worst of all:
Don’t trust yourself! If you believe the story you put together in your own head you are a fool.
Keep an open mind and judge everything on what it produces.
As our schools continue down the path to achieve factory status and our children become units to be slotted in the machine I wonder how this will meet the needs of the modern world.
Each school will become a self-contained business, worshipping on the altar of flawed international PISA tables.
The religious fundamentalists and big business are keen to get in on the academy act. They do not have to employ qualified teachers. That’s fine when all you are doing is getting the poor mites to recite medieval verse or learn how to stack a shelf; it cuts running costs.
The government loves this academy business. They can farm out a lot of the costs to those people, whoever they are, who are dying to get their hands on our children. As a bonus they can zoom up the PISA tables, break the teacher’s pay and conditions, wrest control of schools away from commie county halls and parents, and appeal to nostalgia where previous generations were terrorised and fed boring drivel to regurgitate.
It’s a race back to the fifties with knowledge based exams. Because what we need now are kids who can recite facts. I know all facts and knowledge are readily available at the push of a phone key but regurgitating them is fun. We don’t really need any of those namby pamby social skills, teamwork, qualities, creativity, lateral thinking or all those useless subjects like music, art, ICT, history, drama or geography. Double doses of Maths and English are all that’s required.
We can employ ex-soldiers to control the bored lovelies as they progress through the tedium.
Besides – they are only state school kids. Anyone with anything about them pays so that they don’t have to kow-tow to Ofsted or follow all this rubbish. The Public School kids are the ones that really count.
