The positivity of Anne Frank

She was a prisoner in a secret hiding place surrounded by genocidal Nazis and war – yet she was so positive and was thinking about how to improve the world.

She puts us all to shame.

We could start by ridding the world of these extreme right-wing populists – Trump, Bolsonaro, Oban, Modi, Erdogan and Johnson.

These populists are, to a greater or lesser degree, the modern-day offspring of that same right-wing Nazi thinking that put such a wonderful human being as Anne Frank in a concentration camp and killed her.

When will we rid ourselves of populist fascism.

VOTE THEM OUT!!

Poetry – Out of the Closet

Out of the Closet

Out of the closet the nationalist loonies

Are fuelled with false nostalgia.

The ageing racists, yearning for Empire,

Now suffering from neuralgia.

Full of Dunkirk spirit and bravado of the Blitz

They think the bloody Tories know what is best.

Fed on tabloid propaganda, they believe the fascist lies

And think that profiteers are better than the rest.

They’ve adopted Tommy Robinson and fear the Muslim threat,

And believe that the sodding EU is the cause of all their pain.

While all the time they’re being conned

It’s Tory austerity that sends their earnings down the drain!

They’re the mental English lower classes

Who haven’t got a clue – so just believe the internet stories,

Wallow in self-pity, for a life they never knew

Never thinking for a second they’re being robbed by the Tories

Opher – 14.12.2019

There are a whole bunch of working-class and middle-class people who have been completely duped by the tabloid propaganda and internet scare stories spread by the establishment.

They’ve been whipped into fear-driven hysteria out of all proportion to reality. They have been fed exaggerated garbage that has inflamed deep insecurity, brought out their xenophobic and racist attributes, and turned them into nationalists.

They have evoked the good old British spirit of Dunkirk and the blitz – back to a time when life was wonderful – except it never was, was it?

Those days were hard, cold, impoverished and miserable. Housing was poor, there were no amenities, no money, poor diets, long hours, poor pay and grim conditions. We were cold, hungry and sick. Kids died. Kids went to school sewn into their clothes. Kids had no shoes and tied rags round their feet in snow. Women worked themselves to death with no washing machines or dishwashers. Aaah – the good old days, when Britain was great – when the wealth of the Empire when straight into the stately homes and the workers lived in slums, working twelve hours a day on bread and dripping.

The establishment have directed this hysteria against the EU and deflected it away from the real cause of the deep-seated problems – Tory policy.

The Tories represent this wealthy elite. For ten years they have plundered the public services, robbed from the poor and given to the wealthy through tax cuts and tax loopholes.

They have created a land of billionaires and paupers!!

And people have voted for this bunch of privileged profiteers!! They really believe that people like Trump, Johnson, Farage and Bolsonaro have their interests at heart.

They have been duped into believing that Corbyn is a monster.

You get what you deserve.

Statues and Art?? Should we destroy art because of the immorality or decadence of the artist??

Yesterday somebody damaged the statue produced by Eric Gill on the front of the BBC building.

It appears that the artwork was attacked because of Eric Gill’s sexual deviation (as revealed in his diaries). He committed incest with his daughters and sexually abused the family dog.

I do not think many people would defend the actions of this artist. Sexual abuse is not to be condoned. But those that invalidate the art he produced??

It seems that we are on a slippery slope here. Many artists have lived abhorrent lives while producing outstanding art and music.

Leadbelly was a committed murderer and rapist.

Picasso was a misogynist.

Dali supported Hitler and fascism.

Gaugin was a paedophile.

Caravaggio was a murderer.

The list could go on and on and on.. ……

Does this mean we have to analyse the lives of every artist, musician and writer for abhorrent behaviour? Should we destroy their work if we find unpleasant stuff?

Would we all agree on what was abhorrent?

It seems to me that all those statues of slavers, exploiters, profiteers, warmongers and politicians should be removed!! They represent repugnant values. But destroy them?? I think not. I’d put them in museums.

Destroying art feels like burning books to me!!

Surely we should separate the art from the artist? Surely we can use the art as a focus to discuss the views and actions of the artists?

Poetry – Nothing but lies

Nothing but lies

No mandate!

No majority!

No manners!

Just brutality.

No sense!

No sensitivity!

No empathy;

Just ME ME ME!

Plenty Bullying

But no trust.

No caring!

Country bust!

No listening!

No compromise!

Plenty deceit and

LIES LIES LIES!!

No party!

No country!

Nothing matters –

Just ME ME ME!!

Tough line!

No choice!

Doesn’t care about

Our voice!

False promises!

Fake news!

Lying bastard!

EU Blues!

No mandate!

No majority!

No manners!

Just brutality.

Many politicians go into the business merely to gain power. They put their ambition before the good of the country.

I believe Boris Johnson, Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro are three such people!

Poetry – I’m Donny

I’m Donny

I’m Donald Trump from New York City.

I’m so pretty, but I ain’t no sissy.

I like building walls.

I’ll send them back to their shit-holes,

To join the rats in their holes.

I’m keeping out the hordes

I’m Donny!!  I’m Donny!!

I got so much money it ain’t funny!

I can certainly work a massive crowd.

My old pop would have been so proud –

Rich on government grants

I’m no racist but the US is white.

You know I’m always, always right.

I’ll make us great again!

I’m Donny!!  I’m Donny!!

I got so much money it ain’t funny!

Tax cuts for the rich – economy will boom.

The peasant love me – I make ‘em swoon.

It’s so fucking easy!

With ‘Lock her up’ and ‘Send them back’

I know where their minds are at.

I can play them like a fool

I’m Donny!!  I’m Donny!!

I got so much money it ain’t funny!

My wife’s a classic plastic hussy.

But I’m out there grabbing pussy.

She’s a trophy droid.

I use nepotism as a tool to win.

I get away with murder it’s a sin.

They’re so fucking daft.

I’m Donny!!  I’m Donny!!

I got so much money it ain’t funny!

If someone pisses me I hit them hard;

Treat them like a retard.

They learn real quick.

I tweet to my base and feed them meat.

I’ll have them bowing at my feet.

I love it!

I’m Donny!!  I’m Donny!!

I got so much money it ain’t funny!

Some people are like Teflon – the shit just slides off. But we have to remind ourselves – eventually the Teflon wears thin and the thrall is broken.

Johnson the buffoon and Trump the self-aggrandiser will have their day. Then people will wake up to what they really are. Hopefully, justice will come down on the two of them.

Obnoxious self-servers!!

George Orwell speaks on Nationalism.

It’s because we have good reason to be ashamed. A good section of our population is arrogant, racist, gullible and easily led into fascism.

They read the gutter press and believe it. They make you ashamed.

Nationalism and patriotism are used by scoundrels and politicians to divide and create hate.

One People: One World!

Peter Stefanovic Tells it as it is.

This commentary on Boris Johnson and his lying administration makes for scary reading!!

We’d call it fascism!!!

85 Years of Working Class People fighting Fascism!! – Joe Solo (Now we vote them in power!!)

Joe Solo

Yesterday at 07:32  · 4th October 2021 marks the 85th anniversary of the Battle Of Cable Street, when the East End of London rose up to prevent Oswald Mosley and his Blackshirts passing through their communities with the battle-cry ‘No Pasaran!’ or ‘They Shall Not Pass’.Worth remembering too that the people of Leeds had done the same at the Battle Of Holbeck Moor on 27th September, and Hull had routed the fascists at Corporation Field that July.Up and down the country Working Class communities organised and fought back, and though Cable Street will always be remembered as the culmination of their efforts, it was by no means the only resistance to the BUF.Interned during the war, the Blackshirts returned in the post-war years when they were defeated by the 43 Group, a network of veterans of both Cable Street and WW2.Originally rallying around anti-semitism, the fascists switched to anti-immigration as workers were shipped here from the far corners of the Commonwealth to fill jobs vacated by those lost in the war against Hitler. These days fascists couple this with wider anti-Muslim propaganda, but are still very much alive and well on UK streets. So today maybe it’s a good time to reflect on the lessons taught us by those who stood in their way in 1936, raised their fists and would not let them pass; if not, we have no right to stand on the shoulders of such giants and watch their victories fade before our very eyes

.No Pasaran.

Not then.

Not now.

Not ever.

Vote Fascism out!!!!!

Tories – in by the back door!!!

A corrupt far-right regime.

Trump a modern-day monster
