They really broke Britain! It’s costing us a fortune – £30 Billion a year! It’s destroyed our public services in the process and is drowning us in red tape. Instead of migrant EU workers we’re importing masses of more permanent workers from Africa, China and India. Insane! Immigration has gone through the roof! We lost the cooperation of France, Germany and the rest of the EU.
The ERG are to blame. They forced through the most extreme version on ideological grounds. With such a close vote they had no mandate for an extreme Brexit. It is obvious that we should have gone for a soft Brexit, stayed in the customs union and single market and avoided all the red tape and loss of trade. Immigration would have been much less and we could have paid doctors, nurses and teachers properly!
Instead, we allowed profiteers like Rees-Mogg, to dictate terms. They made a killing. We pick up the tab!
The ERG, with their nationalistic, patriotic, xenophobic/racism, have created havoc for decades. These extreme nutcases have brought down government after government and introduced a Brexit (through lies) that is destroying the fabric of the country.
It’s time that Labour grew some balls and went back to negotiate the mess that the opportunist Johnson and repugnant ERG left us with. Rejoin the Single Market and Customs Union. Get us back into a good growth market!

The USA is under an existential threat from Trump and the GOP. If Trump wins then democracy is lost. He will pardon himself of all crimes, force through repulsive right-wing legislation to curtail women’s rights, put more right-wingers into the Supreme Court and allow the extreme right Evangelicals and white supremacists more power.

Well today is Election Day. We’ll see if the people have been fooled again. Democracy is in the hands of the stupid, gullible and tribal.
For fourteen years the Tories have been robbing the poor and cutting public services so they could give to the rich. We’ve gone from 29 billionaires to 177 billionaires while the poor cower in the cold, not able to afford the energy and relying on food banks to stay alive.
Corporation taxes are down and oil companies are pocketing billions.
Our rivers are full of sewage while billions are siphoned off to foreign investors. Tory donors, like Lady Mone and Hancock’s landlord, pocket millions for useless PPE that has to be dumped. The VIP lanes farmed out contracts to Tories and bypassed the companies who could do the job.
Brexit is a disaster. They lied!!
Nobody is accountable.
Cameron, May and Johnson are busy earning millions while Britain is broken!

Fairness and equality are myths – just like democracy.
Wealth buys power and privilege. Fairness doesn’t come into it.
We do not live in a meritocracy.
Scum rises to the top.
Wealth greases the pole and puts in a fast lift straight to the top.
Thirteen years of Tory rule has doubled the riches of the wealthy while throwing the rest of us into austerity, poverty and hopelessness.
Our public services are broken but the private schools and hospitals get handouts.
Food banks cater for millions and homeless beggars clog the streets.

Back in the days before every man had a vote (long before women were deemed competent) they panicked. The pressure was mounting.
Only the wealthy could vote.
It was thought that once the ordinary people were given a vote the life of luxury and privilege would be snatched away. People would vote for a fairer society, a more equitable division of wealth.
There was panic in the wealthy elite.
They came up with a solution. It was called propaganda.
He who controls the media controls the truth.
Fear-mongering, lies and smear became the tools of the trade.
With sufficient hypocrisy and spin you could get ordinary folk to believe anything.
You can only have real democracy when you have transparency, fair representation and a vote for every man and woman. That was far from the case two hundred years ago.
Women were denied the vote. Only landowners could vote. Some towns with only a handful of voters were electing two MPs. Two towns electing two MPs each had only 1 eligible voter. Half of the MPs in the House were elected by a mere 154 votes. Cities with hundreds of thousands were grossly underrepresented.
The economic and employment situation in the North was dire and people felt they had no recourse to justice. They had no vote and no representation.
At St. Peter’s field near Manchester between 60,000 and 80,000 gathered to hold a peaceful public meeting and protest. The establishment was rattled. They thought it might develop into a riot, ferment general unrest and lead to a revolution. They banned it. But the protesters still met.
The cavalry were called to charge. People were trampled and slashed with sabres. The crowd was eventually dispersed. They left 11 to 15 dead and over 600 to 700 badly injured – 168 of which were women. The first to be killed was a baby knocked out of his mother’s arms by a charging cavalryman. Witnesses claimed the cavalrymen slashed out indiscriminately at anyone they could. The area was sodden with blood.
It became known as the Peterloo massacre in ironic contrast to the recent battle of Waterloo.
It led to renewed impetus for justice and the Chartist Movement who fought for the right to vote.
Freedoms and rights are not freely given. They are paid for with lives and blood and can so easily be stripped away again.
