There are two problems in the world:

a. Billionaires. Nobody ‘earns’ a billion. They get that money by exploiting the work and ideas of other people. Nobody needs a billion. It’s nonsense. Because the wealth is so badly divided a few have more than they could ever need while millions starve. It’s immoral.

b The people who think being a billionaire is alright and aspire to be one. They call it the American Dream. It’s a contrick. The system is set up for billionaires. They control it. They load the dice. They bribe, blackmail and manipulate. They have their closed schools, clubs and secret societies. It’s obscene.

One Rule For Us

One Rule For Us

One rule for us

                Another for you.

Power and wealth

                Never give us our due.

You take the money

                And  privilege

We’re left food banks

                And sleep under a bridge.

Playing the game

                Without rules.

Treating us

                Like fools.

Private schools,

                Private health.

All the perks

                That come with wealth

You claim to deserve it

                But we do not.

You are worthy;

We do not count a jot.

Playing the game

                Without rules.

Treating us

                Like fools.

One rule for you.

                One for us.

Step out of line

                You’re under the bus.

Fairness and equality are myths – just like democracy.

Wealth buys power and privilege. Fairness doesn’t come into it.

We do not live in a meritocracy.

Scum rises to the top.

Wealth greases the pole and puts in a fast lift straight to the top.

Thirteen years of Tory rule has doubled the riches of the wealthy while throwing the rest of us into austerity, poverty and hopelessness.

Our public services are broken but the private schools and hospitals get handouts.

Food banks cater for millions and homeless beggars clog the streets.

Fairness and equality are myths – we’ll see about democracy!!

Poetry – CASH!!

CASH!!

The government prints as much as they like

And tells us there’s a shortage – ‘So get on your bike!’

There’s plenty for bombers, missiles and fools,

But none left over for hospitals and schools.

They give it to the bankers in truckloads and more!

But the nurses and teachers just have to stay poor.

Its value is really all in the head,

But we use for buying champagne and bread.

I reckon it’s time to sort out its worth.

How much we all get shouldn’t be based on our birth.

Why should celebrities and bankers get paid so well?

While the rest of the country has to wish in the well.

It’s time that we sorted the real worth of our time

Cos we’re all being robbed in a continuous crime!

Opher – 8.7.2019

We have a two-tier society. Most of us earn money in ‘real’ worth but a small elite of celebrities, sportspeople, bankers, executives, politicians and entertainers live in a different world.

Seemingly our time is calculated in cash per hour but theirs is calculated in truckloads.

It seems to me that the real value of a human being is not being worked out properly.

Roy Harper – Circle

Another track off the Come Out Fighting Ghenghis Smith 1967 album. A grounbreaking track concerning his childhood and expectations.
