The Corona Diaries – Day 248
Well incredibly, I still have not had Covid. I suppose that is not surprising because we are not have contact with people, but it wasn’t really what I was expecting.
I do now know of a number of people who have had the illness with varying degrees of sickness, and one who has died (a 52 year old cyclist).
With Christmas looming we are steering clear of meeting up with family. We might have a get together when we’ve had the vaccine!
Today started sunny so we decided to head for the coast and have a walk by the sea.
There were lots of wading birds along the water’s edge. Great to see.
Back home I’ve been working on my poetry books and listening to some early acoustic Dylan. He was brilliant, wasn’t he?
Meanwhile, out in Coronaland, Mad Trump continues to rail and whine. He is now saying that he must have won because of the size of his rally crowds! Poor fool hasn’t realised that it is the size of the vote that counts – not the rally crowds! They are just the fanatic nutters.
His incompetence killed another 2313 people yesterday. Can you believe that??? If this had been a terrorist attack the USA would be nuking people. That is now over 263,000 people dead in the USA compared to 25 in New Zealand. Jacinda Ardherne was presiding over 1 new case yesterday. She did it right. He did it wrong and is still doing it wrong. At this rate Biden won’t have too many left to preside over! It’s a catastrophe.
In the UK we are still in lockdown but had another 18,213 new cases yesterday. I think people have stopped paying any attention to our clown in chief. He’s an idiot. We had another 695 deaths.
In Brazil it is zooming up again – 47,898 new cases and 654 deaths!
Populism is taking a heavy toll on people. Hopefully we have learnt our lesson – but I doubt it. People are daft.

The Corona Diaries – Day 239
Today I spent a lot of the morning writing which meant that I did not get out for my daily walk until mid-afternoon. The days are drawing in. The sky was very overcast. It was dark very quickly. But it was warm and I had a fascinating walk.
Out in the fields the agricultural factory was in full swing. Last week the corn was cropped – and I heard it was all going to a massive biofuel unit. The fields were then ploughed yesterday. Today they were being disced and sown. It is amazing what a quick turn over takes place. This is nothing to do with nature. It’s a factory. No hand touches the soil. No hand touches the crop. No hand touches the seed. The whole operation is carried out by machine.
Just a hundred years ago it all would have been different. The fields would have been part of nature with hedges, ponds and trees. The work would have been done slowly by man and horse. The whole village helped with harvest.
Now it’s a factory!
I watched the sheep, picked a couple of wild apples and came home.
My music today has been Phil Ochs – a very underrated songwriter.
Meanwhile, out in Coronaland the madness continues. The covid cases in the USA continue to soar with a staggering 166,581 new cases yesterday and another 798 deaths but Trump doesn’t seem to care. He’s either out playing golf or rampaging about or sulking. He was trying to get the pentagon to bomb Iran’s nuclear sites before he leaves office – but sanity prevailed. His conspiracy theories and false claims are being systematically thrown out of court and shown to be unfounded or fictitious. The ranting about the Dominion machines was shown to be rubbish. He just lies.
In the meantime, people are dying in droves and he’s doing nothing about it.
Here in the UK the numbers are coming down a bit as lockdown starts to bite. We still had 21,363 cases yesterday with another 213 deaths and the department of statistics said there have been over 70,000 additional deaths due to covid (the government’s official figures are about 52,147. So they are about twenty thousand out – surprise surprise!!
New Zealand and Vietnam are still showing us up. They had 4 and 5 new cases respectively and no deaths. If they can do it why can’t we?? It’s all about competency, leadership and preparation – something Trump, Johnson and Bolsonaro can’t understand.
They are talking about a relaxation fot Christmas. Who knows?
Another vaccine is coming on line but the propaganda from the antivaxxers put the future normality in question. We won’t achieve herd immunity if a number of people are conned by the idiots.

My computer is Sick! It has a Virus! Why do Sick People spend their time making malicious viruses?
I’m sending it flowers!!
As with my own physical condition my computer has been suffering a similar fate. It too has been struck down with a destructive virus. (I doubt that it is the same one but you never know – it could be a cyborg disease!)
Have you ever wondered what goes on in the sick minds of people who spend their life designing intricate viruses for the sole purpose of ruining other peoples lives? They must be really ill. They sit there and get pleasurable feelings from the thought that they will have messed up someone else’s life. That is really sad. They really do need treatment.
My machine kept crashing, going slowly, coming up with pop-ups, shutting down. It was a nightmare. No amount of scanning, Kaspersky, or malware treatment would suffice. It required a stronger cyberbiotic.
Fortunately it is being lovingly cleansed. Dave is connecting it to cyberlife-support, checking its drives, scrubbing it clean and pandering its motherboard. It will then have convalescence while its programmes are caringly nursed back to full health, it’s memory purged and its chip primped.
So this means I am forced to work on another machine. Everything is different. It types different, looks different and I cannot find anything. My life is disrupted! I can’t cope!
This explains the fact that my posts are probably coming out different.
Hopefully ‘Ethel the Mighty’ (my trusty machine) will be back before long and life will return to normality!! (Whatever serves as normality these days!)
