No truth,

                Only opinion,

As the foundations crumble,

Into the vacuum

                Populists slip

                                To offer the solidity of a swamp.

Stirring the pot,

                Accusing Deep State,

                                Insinuating fear

                                                And hate.

Deploying scapegoats.

                Offering phony solutions.

Used. Abused.

                Dressed in caps and uniform,

Rings in noses,

                Waving flags,

                                Euphoric on dreams,

                                                Ecstatic with trust,

                                                                Led on a goose chase,

In the grubby world of politics, where deception is the nature of the game and there are no rules, the charade has descended to a new all-time low.

Hypocrisy rules.

In this nightmare world the swamp talks about draining the swamp.

Greedy billionaires scramble to convince the masses that they have their interests at heart while cynically exploiting them for every penny they can get.

Fairness and justice, empathy and compassion, are just words to be treated with contempt and disdain.

Greed rules.

There are no rules.

Lies, deception, misinformation and fake news are the weapons of choice.

Confuse, direct and rule.

Weaponise the truth.

Tax evasion is a laudable enterprise in the land of survival of the richest. Sex crimes are not only acceptable but a badge of office.

Truth is absent. Belief is optional.

The faithful are in a trance and perform their circus tricks to order.

This is the age of post-truth where science and intelligent, rational thought has been replaced with superstition and conspiracy.

Populists detest solid ground. They are denizens of the real swamp!

What Tory cuts did!

They cut the schools, the NHS, councils and mental health services. Once we had youth clubs, carers and preventative care. Once we had dentists.

Now we have potholes, aimless kiids, more addicts, mentally ill people in prison and roaming the streets, massive waiting lists and NO support for the vulnerable.

But the wealthy are a lot richer!

Now the Tory media is turning on Labour and glossing over Tory corruption!!

Don’t allow yourself to be conned by the greedy wealthy! They never have enough and they don’t give a jot about us.

Spin, Lies and Propaganda – Then There’s the TRUTH!!

The Tory Propaganda Machine thunders into action. What a fantastic budget! Record tax cuts. We’ve turned the corner! Everything is going to be rosy now!

The reality is somewhat different.

They’ve plundered the already mangled public services to give a tax bribe for the election. Reducing the National Insurance by 2p doesn’t make up for freezing the taxation levels.

Taxation is still going to be the highest in history!!

They’ve retained the triple lock for pensioners but that won’t cover the increase in fuel bills and there’s no more help through the winter like last year. The increase won’t even come in until April – so do the decent thing and freeze, starve and die!! Just like they wanted you to do in covid!!

This is a budget for growth! BOLLOCKS!!

The future economic outlook is dire!! Growth is stagnant.

We’re looking at years more austerity and a worsening cost of living crisis!! But the worst won’t kick in until after the election! What a mess they’ve made of the country. Nothing is working. Everything is broken. It’s only the rich Tories who are waltzing off with millions!!

You wouldn’t think that from the headlines, would you?

How can anybody believe what they are told? The truth is always manipulated. One has to read between the lies to see if we cannot glimpse the truth below.

We live in a world of spin, fake news and propaganda. All sides do it. They call it politics. It’s a world of lies.

The first casualty of war is the truth.

The media always has a political bias. Nothing is ever completely true.

NATO and the Ukraine appear whiter than white. They aren’t. NATO went back on promises and was after moving up to the borders of Russia. We would then have nuclear missiles close to Moscow. Were the missiles a threat? Were they a deterrent? Was it defensive or offensive?

Depends which side of the fence you sit.

Ukraine does have a number of extreme right groups who could be described as neo-Nazis. There is evident racism. But then there is in most European countries – look at the fascist Oban in Austria and Trump in America.

Can anything justify war? I don’t think so. Putin is a barbaric animal who needs trying for war crimes – not just here but in Chechnya, Grozny and Aleppo. Then we have war crimes committed by the USA and UK in Afghanistan and Iraq. We have the warmongering Iranians, Saudi Arabians, not to forget Bashir and the bastions of terrorism.

All war criminals should be tried.

Beware the black and white.

Unfortunately this distrust of politicians and the media has led to the propagation of conspiracy on the web. People are even more susceptible to the stupid propaganda flung out on the web. It’s worse than the media bias.

Hence we end up with lying Trump, lying Johnson, lying Bolsonaro and lying Oban. The whole populist movement is based on fake news and conspiracy. Lying is their trade.

But always, the first casualty of war is the truth.

We’re listening to the news

                To find what we have in store.

Always a sanitised version;

                Truth is the first victim of war.

We’re told the casualty numbers

                So that we can keep the score.

We know that we can’t trust them;

The rich are making more money

                Sanctions only hit the poor.

This is carefully hidden up;

The sight of those broken victims

                Touches us to the core

But how much is propaganda?

We know we’re being manipulated but that doesn’t help much. You merely select the lies you prefer to believe.

The mainstream media has its agenda and that online shit is probably worse. Our cynicism is preyed on as conspiracy is mixed with fact.

Populist leaders lie through their teeth all the way to the bank.

Wealthy individuals buy the politicians and policies they want.

When there’s a war there is propaganda.

Better the devil you know.

I hope we won’t be fooled again.

Democracy – is it achievable?

For there to be a true democracy a number of factors have to be achieved:

a. We have to have a good choice of candidates.

b. We have to be informed.

c. There should be no bias.

d. Everybody has to have a vote.

e. Every vote should count.

f. Those elected need to be accountable.

What we have is a sham democracy. We have a two-party system of supposedly representational democracy. We have a binary vote. With our one vote we are presumed to support the entire agenda of the political parties manifesto. The whole system is corrupt. It is run by money and power. We are being manipulated, brainwashed and lied to.

a. We never have a good choice of candidates. It’s a two-horse race. The political parties have vested interests. Good candidates do not get selected. We have a limited choice between the lesser of two evils. Without huge financial backing no other candidate stands a chance. The media provides the exposure required. The media has to be bought. The media backs who they are told to back. Propaganda rules.

b. With a biased media run by the establishment no election is fair. Antiestablishment candidates or parties are tarnished, lied about and misrepresented. They have no chance. He who controls the media controls the people. We are never properly informed on issues, candidates or parties. Our electorate is politically uneducated.

c. The media is biased. The internet is worst of all. We are fed lies. We are misinformed. Those squealing fake news are the biggest liars.

d. Everyone has a vote. That is a weakness. The stupid, ignorant and most gullible have the same vote as the intelligent, informed and discerning. The stupid, ignorant and most gullible are a majority. This makes it possible for cynical politicians to lie, cheat, promise and blatantly fool the electorate.

e. My vote has never counted. I have always lived in an area that is strongly for one party or another. The only votes that really count are those in swing seats – a small minority. Until we move to proportional representation most votes count for nothing.

f. They are never accountable. They lie, spin and refuse to answer questions. They look for scapegoats and refuse to take the blame for their sleaze, corruption or mistakes. The Tories refuse to appear on any programme that would ask awkward questions or hold them to account.

This is a sham democracy. It fails on all counts.

It needs changing.

It could be made to work – but it is not in the interests of our ‘masters’ to have a functional democracy. They are happy with it as it is!!

The Forthcoming Graywash!!

Sue Gray, appointed by Boris Johnson, will report to Boris Johnson. Boris Johnson will decide if he has done anything wrong. Boris Johnson will exonerate himself. A few civil servants will be thrown to the wolves. Investigation done. The innocent man was victimised. There were no boozy parties. Johnson presided over work meetings in his garden (complete with booze, games and nibble), no laws broken, no rules bent.

They will try to put out the flames.

The liar will exonerate the liar by lying.
