Letter to America
Dear America
You disgust me
With your fake Christian values and hypocrisy
Your lies and fears.
I hate your gun-toting cruelty;
Your heartless brutality.
America, you call yourself civilised but you are the epitome of primitive vengeance.
America, you quote the Old Testament too much
You should try Jesus’s love for a change
Not so much an eye for an eye as turn the other cheek
Welcome strangers.
But America you pick and choose the verse to support your greed.
America you are afraid
You are afraid of black and brown
You are afraid of immigrants
But unless you are Native American you are all immigrants.
Immigrants pick your crops, serve your tables and cook your food
Immigrants mend your cars, unblock your sinks and connect your electricity.
You are afraid
You are afraid of being overrun
You are afraid of replacement
You think you are entitled.
America I have news for you
You are no better than anybody else
And Jesus was brown
America you disgust me.
America you do not value truth
You value tribalism.
America, you are prepared to support a greedy crook because he hates the same people as you.
America you do not care if he’s a racist, a rapist, a crook, a paedophile, a greedy conman.
You do not care if he puts your prices up
The price of gas and food is immaterial.
All you care about is hate and fear.
America you are a sick, diseased piece of scum
Led by the nose by a narcissistic megalomania
Who is robbing you blind
While feeding your hate.
America you disgust me
Sincerely
A friend
