Is China shaping up to be the big beast in the world?? The one we can’t trust?

Now that Russia has displayed its weakness and is collapsing slowly will some other evil empire rise up to take its place?

With its reputation as a totalitarian tyranny China is not looking good. Oppression and suppression seem to be its modus operandi, as per Hong Kong, Tiananmen Square, the Uyghurs, Tibet and Taiwan on the horizon. Increasing militarisation and belligerence.

Or perhaps Iran is the Bete noire – sending out its terrorist militia to cause war and instability.

Or could it be North Korea and the testing of ballistic missiles – pouring money into the military while the population starve?

Why can’t people be allowed to simply get along?

Nazanin Ratcliffe – Please send this letter to your MP.

Following a message from the Richard Ratcliffe Change.org petition site, I am sending this letter to my local MP (the useless Nick Gibb). Whether these things ever make any difference I somehow doubt but nevertheless, perhaps you could encourage your followers to do the same. Every little helps!  Feel free to make any corrections or additions.

Find MPs – MPs and Lords – UK Parliament will find MP’s constituency address.  I think a letter carries more weight than an email.

Dear …..

From what I understand, our government is doing precious little to help with the release of Nazanin Ratcliffe.  If the X million pounds that we rightly owe Iran would implement her release, then why do we not pay it?  We are chucking billions here and billions there, let’s just chuck a few million in Iran’s direction, settle our debt and secure Nazanin’s release.  The way she is being treated is inhuman.  And in case ‘inhuman’ doesn’t quite cut it, try, Barbaric, Heartless, Cruel, Hateful and quite simply, Unkind.

Quite honestly, I despair at this government’s apparent lack of compassion and when I look around at the state of this world we all share, I am deeply, deeply disappointed.

Urge ‘Action Man’ to pull his finger out and DO something, after all, it was partly his fault Nazanin was incarcerated in the first place.

Another blogger in Pakistan is beaten to death by a mob of religious fascists!

A blogger in Iran is finally released from ten years in prison for daring to criticise the hierarchy.

Freedom of speech is not a universal right. Everywhere it has been introduced it has had to be fought for. Freedom is always paid for with blood. It is usually removed by stealth under the guise of protecting the populace.

In places like Iran, Saudi and Pakistan, where fundamentalism rules, speaking your mind can result in imprisonment, 1000s of lashes, or even death. The religious fascists do not tolerate any dissention. Everyone has to believe or die. There is no room for criticism or differing views.

I find that repulsive. It is against everything I believe in.

‘Find the cost of freedom, buried in the ground,’ as CSNandY once said.

The fact that there are still bloggers who are prepared to speak out against this tyranny is commendable. They are risking their lives. I cannot find words to express my admiration.

We all need to stand up for freedom, equality, tolerance and respect. We need to speak out against tyranny of all types. Fascism is reprehensible.

Here is to a better world! A world based on love.
