I decided a while ago that I need a break and I have much that needs doing. The Blog is extremely time consuming, saps energy and creativity and puts strains on relationships. We have a new house to get into shape. I have a family to give time to. I have a lot of writing I have to get down to. I have a lot of publishing and I need to give some attention to promoting my existing books. Apart from that there are good friends I want to spend time with, great music gigs to see, much to read and a lot of travel to fit in. I think all that should take care of most of my time for the foreseeable future.
My present thinking is to put the Blog to sleep. I may do the occasional post as the mood takes me. In the meantime it will be there for people to dip into if they so wish. There are 3700 past posts to discover.
So thank you all my loyal followers. It is good to go out at the top! This month has been a record month. Viewing are 50% up on any month in the last year. Already this month I have greatly exceeded the entire number of viewings for the whole of my first year. Likewise the number of Likes has rocketed. I have over 7700 follows (1121 WordPress, 20 email, 5000 Facebook and 1593 twitter). I’m told the facebook and Twitter don’t count but who is worrying. Most of my followers don’t comment but many press the like button and that gives me some encouragement to think there is a community of like-minded people out there who like what I am putting out. It’s a bit of a game. What is important is to communicate and express what you honestly feel. Nothing more.
I may resurrect this blog in the Summer. Right now I’m not sure. We’ll see.

I have been blogging for nearly three years and I have decided to take a bit of a break.
Blogging is very time consuming and I have a number of things of importance to turn my attention to. I want to focus on getting our new home sorted, doing some more serious writing, looking into publication and even getting a bit more reading in.
I have made some good friends through this blog. I don’t want to lose that friendship. So I will leave the blog active and maybe get back to it every now and again.
After my break I may come back and start up again. We’ll see.
So for two weeks I shall blog as normal. After that I shall take a break.

Now I know that compared with Justin Bieber 100,000 views is nothing. He probably gets that number every single hour. But for me that seems quite impressive. It means that the posts I put out on my blog are reaching people out there.
I don’t have to have people agree with me on the things I write. That is not what it’s about. I write what I think. Blogging for me is a vehicle to express my creativity and say exactly what I think. Most people don’t like that. It is threatening. But unless we are all prepared to think about the things we believe we cannot go forward.
I have been blogging for two years now and I have built up a following of 6,650 followers. In global terms that isn’t many. But to me that indicates that a number of people, at least, find what I am saying interesting enough to look at.
I’m a writer. I’m passionate.

The day before yesterday I tried opening my emails on Outlook on my PC and it started opening and stopped then came up with a message I’ve never seen before – Something went wrong and we can’t sign you in right now. Try again later.
I thought that was weird. I tried later a number of times with the same result. I thought there was something up with Outlook or Hotmail. But I tried on my Mac and got on without any trouble.
I tried a number of other ways of accessing my Hotmail account on the PC with out success.
Today the Mac cannot log on either. Any ideas of how to fix this?
I have just returned from a trip to Jersey to support my daughter who was representing the Netherlands in a European Touch Rugby tournament.
It was great fun. The team did really well playing against the like of England, Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Scotland, Guernsey and Wales. Of course I called her a traitor and warned her that she’d have to be locked up in the tower if she returns to England.
We took the time to do a lot of walking. I’ve come back fitter, with an idea for a new book, a ton of photos and a bit more energy.
In truth the whole negative vibe around the blog, my writing career and the politics around Brexit was becoming too depressing. I needed a break. Too much nastiness and unpleasantness. Too much failure.
I have a new way forward. There are many good things happening in the near future. I have new ventures and I shall reveal all as I go along. Optimism, hope, passion and honesty are the words of the mantra.
Life is sweet – live it to the full. Life is change. There are big changes ahead.
Much will be published shortly – once I’ve settled back in and caught up!!

Having put out over 2500 posts in my two years blogging I find it quite interesting to reflect on what has proved most successful in terms of number of views and what hasn’t.
there does not seem to be any rhyme of reason to it. You put out a number of similar posts and get the usual number of views and then suddenly one will take off and receive lots of attention. For some reason it seems to capture people’s imagination.
It makes me certain there is a zeitgeist (or some similar mass psychological process) at work.
It is weird.

By no means were these my best posts but they were all among the best. There was something about them that captured people’s imaginations. They propelled themselves into the stratosphere.
What was that essence that sparked the shamanic zeitgeist and enticed people to check out and pass on that particular post?
