Nothing much seems to have changed for the local people. The 21st century has not had a huge impact. They live out on their farms. Llamas are a beast of burden. They have their traditional costumes and bring their produce and handicraft to market.
We flew across Peru close to volcanoes, one of which appearing to be erupting. We headed out into the desert on a bus into a landscape of volcanic ash and shrubs – with the odd llama. There we found an old lady sitting in the middle of nowhere spinning wool. Where she had come from was a mystery.
