Today was brighter. Lots of blue sky. I walked up to the top of my hill and looked out to sea. The land changes slowly. We are nothing but a flicker. The timescale is too enormous. But nature is still wonderful. There was some bird song and the sound of a woodpecker. It’s the first day of Spring.

I doubt if it feels much like Spring down in the car parks and bunkers in Ukraine though!! Putin is doing the usual tyrant’s approach – targeting women and children – indiscriminate bombing of residential areas. He practised it in Syria!!. One minute these are Russian brothers and sisters requiring liberation from a fascist Western-leaning government, the next they are evil vermin to be exterminated.

The paranoid dictator is threatening mutual destruction in a self-generated nuclear holocaust!!

Like with the Ukraine, I think the majority of Russians would prefer a close relationship with the West to life under this dictatorship. You can always judge a society by the level of inequality and the way the ruling class treats its people. Nearly all societies are poorly organised. They nearly all have a wealthy elite exploiting the rest, but Russia must be one of the worst. It’s ironic. The Russian people had a revolution to solve the grotesque inequality. Didn’t work did it? The Russian secret police crackdown. Nobody is free. The right to protest. The right to have a say. This is a far cry from a communist system – it has become tyrannical fascism. This supposedly communist system hasn’t created greater equality. The new elite live in opulence and the people live in poverty. Putin has his palace and billions stashed away for a rainy day. The Russian people live in hovels. I think it’s time for another revolution!!

We need one here too. Our inequality is far too great. Ordinary people might not live in quite the squalor they do in Russia but the profiteers are raking it in!!

Why the hell can’t we ever create a fair society? Why do we always end up with a bunch of nasty, cruel, heartless profiteers taking over and a political class bending over backwards to support them?

We need a revolution and a fair distribution of wealth!!

Workers of the world unite!! Drive out the profiteers.

Well today I’ve been reading (finished Philip Roths I Married A Communist and just started Jasper Fforde’s The Well of Lost Plots) and listened to some Roy Harper – Death Or Glory. Good enough.

Meanwhile, out in Coronaland, Johnson is jumping for joy!! There is war!! It’s wonderful!! A Godsend!! One minute he’s fighting for his political life because he is a lying, law-breaking, incompetent clown, and everything looks dire. The media has turned on him. The opposition is going for the jugular. Partygate is looking like the end of his useless career. The public are steaming. We’re all waiting for Sue Gray and the Met. Everyone is calling for his resignation. Johnson’s end is nigh!! The next minute Putin invades Ukraine and the heat’s off. We’re in a war situation. Johnson can play at being Churchill again. The focus has changed. The public are now furious with Putin. Johnson is forgotten. Putin has even threatened us with nuclear missiles. Johnson is beside himself with joy. The opposition can’t even attack him! In war we all have to come together. Even Blackford can’t call him the liar that he is. By the time this all blows over (or up!!) it will all be forgotten and our lying clown will not only survive but will likely get himself re-elected for another term, another opportunity to line his pockets and rob everyone.

How strange the world is.

So, today, in our new freedom, where pandemics don’t exist and our clown does not even have to talk about them, I noticed that there were 82,113 new cases yesterday with another 137 deaths. Not that anybody seemed bothered anymore. The pandemic is over!!

Hancock was not really breaking rules at all. It was fine. He was in love with his mistress!! You can break rules if you are in love!

I wonder if Johnson with use the same excuse??? ‘I had a load of parties, not because we are the important people for whom rules don’t apply as they do for the little people, but because I was in love!’

Then Putin could do the same!! ‘I attacked the Ukraine and am killing hundreds of women and children because I am in love!!’

No laws apply when you are in love!! I must remember that!!

Mind you, those shop owners who got fined £35,000 for keeping their shop open while Johnson was partying are not happy. They are appealing!! They should have told the police that it was alright – they were in love!! Fools!! Didn’t they know they were the little people?? It’s only the important people who can do as they like!! As sure as Johnson will get off with a slap on the wrist for becoming the first criminal to inhabit Number 10, they will not get off!!

Pour a glass of beer, sit back and watch the sky light up in a magnificent display of fireworks signalling the end of the monkey experiment, a clean canvas and an opportunity for nature to give the whales a go!! They at least have bigger brains than us and like music!! Maybe…………..

I work up today feeling pretty normal – at least what passes for normal in my universe. I jumped out of bed and rushed downstairs to take a covid test (well, at least I staggered to the loo, had a shower, got dressed and wandered down and thought I’d take a test! – that’s my version of jumping out of bed!).

At first the test was negative with a very clear C line and nothing else. I noticed that after 30 minutes, when I came back to have another look, there was the faintest of lines at the T. So I still do have a slight residual infection of covid loitering in my nasal cavity. Probably not sufficient to infect anybody but still not completely gone.

As the morning progressed I noticed the congestion in my head was building up a little. Not enough to cause major problems but it was there. But then again, you don’t know if you are just being overly analytical. Maybe I always feel like this and don’t normally pay it any regard?

I’m still coughing up a bit of phlegm though and I’m feeling tired. No completely back to normal, after all, but I know I have survived it!

In way of celebration, I dug out my Michael Chapman album and have been playing Fully Qualified Survivor. It seemed appropriate.

I then had a sit in the front room with the sun streaming through the window making it quite warm and cosy and read some of my Philip Roth book – I Married A Communist (an excellent and scary read – America allowed itself to be brainwashed against socialism and communism by McCarthy. The establishment are rampant and capitalism has run riot. It’s becoming more fascist by the minute. The end result is the biggest billionaire conman of all time – Trump.

Meanwhile, out in Coronaland, our chump does not want to upset his donors by coming down on Russia too hard. There are billions at stake. He’ll probably lie a lot and hide in fridges, then he’ll come out in a hi-vis jacket and pretend to fly a fighter jet. There are a few things he won’t do. He won’t do anything that smacks of real leadership. He won’t say anything worth hearing. He will tell us that the trivial responses he is doing are all world-beating and he has a batch of oven-ready plans that he hasn’t quite thought of yet.

Out in Russia Putin is a danger to the whole world. He’s backed into a corner as his offensive bogs down and the costs and attrition mount. This could go two ways. He’ll either be forced to negotiate a truce or he’ll up the ante and use more lethal force. For a maniac like him to have his finger on the nuclear button is a worry. Russian thermobarbic missiles and bombs are a really nasty development. They should be named thermo barbaric. If he uses them he will progress to the upper echelons of monsters. Remember, a short while ago he was saying that the Ukrainians were Russian. They were indistinguishable. He was going in to save. I hope that doesn’t mean what the US meant when they went into Vietnam. Save ’em by frying them alive???

Horrendous.

The Russian people need to rise up on mass and condemn him, throw him out of office and bring in a different culture – one more up to date, more suited to the 21st century. Surely Russia has had enough of being a third world country with billionaire oligarchs and miserable poverty. Something needs to change. Russia needs to come in from the cold!! It’s not working.

Neither is our covid policy!! Neither is Brexit!! Neither is this greedy sleazy government!! Time for change here too!!

We’ve still got a high level of infection in this Pandemic that is supposed to be over. We still have many deaths.

Time for a grown-up debate on how we go forward. Time for leadership and direction. Time for strategy. The ostrich strategy is not a plan!!

As a battle rages in Europe, there is another battle raging in my nasal cavities. It is one I am slowly winning.

I’m still muzzy with congested sinuses and by the afternoon I’m overcome with lethargy and fatigue – but it’s gradually improving!

The sun is shining and the temperature shot up to 12 degrees so we went for a walk up my hill. It’s the first time I’ve done that since I went down with Covid over a week ago. I managed it quite well and was feeling a lot perkier.

Back home I’ve been listening to some antiwar songs and reading my Philip Roth book – I Married a Communist. It’s an excellent book that brings home the doublethink of US society. In the land of the free, you are allowed to believe in what you like, practise whatever religion and politics you choose – as long as it is what you are told to believe in, think and do. Believing in equality and fairness is a sin. If you’re not a capitalist Christian you get shat on. That’s American freedom.

Glad I’m in the UK – at least we are a shade freer here!

Meanwhile, out in Coronaland, the world has turned upside down. The Russians, under Putin, have waded into Ukraine with all missiles blazing. It’s the start of something a lot nastier. This isn’t going to stop in Ukraine. We’re in a new ballgame. The Iron Curtain is back. We’ll see what develops. Are we going to have another arms race? Are we going to completely cut off Russia? Will Russia form a stronger attachment to China to oppose the West? What is China’s long-term thinking? Are they pleased with this? How big a price is Russia going to pay for this act of barbarity? Will it be frozen out of civilised trade, cut off from the world? Will the Russian people put up with this? Will there be a general uprising? How many Russian troops will be killed? How many missiles and tanks will be destroyed? What will the cost be? With an economy on par with that of Spain can Russia really pose a threat? Will all this escalate into something even bigger? Will the Baltic states be next in line?

So many questions.

Nobody will be happier with the situation than Boris Johnson. He’ll be thinking that this will blow him straight out of the news headlines. His law-breaking and lying will get lost in the haze of war. His furious backbenchers will not dare to sack him during such an emergency. I bet he’s partying in Number 10!! He’s hoping that by the time it all dies down it’ll all be forgotten. A few hours is a long time in politics.

Mind you there is Russiangate and that could be nasty. The Tory party has been hosting all manner of wealthy Russian oligarchs and accepting large donations too. Putin is bankrolling the Tory Party. And of course – all these donors don’t give their millions for nothing. It throws the whole sleazy operation into relief. The Tory Party has been offering meetings, peerages and favours for cash to all and sundry. It’s like watching the Mafia in action. We’ve become one of the most corrupt operations in the world. London is the capital of sleaze – money laundering, tax evasion, fraud – as long as they make their bungs to the right people and the money keeps rolling in. Wallpaper – you got it! All expenses paid holiday – you got it! Refurbishment, holidays, dinners, wine, cash – you got it!!

Perhaps Russiangate will bring it all out into the open?? Somehow I doubt it though. The media are being thoroughly controlled.

Of course, our resident clown doesn’t do interviews where he can be held to account. He does soundbites, photo ops and reads from autocues. It’s all he can be trusted to do. The newspapers are owned by the stinking rich, as are most TV and Radio stations and the BBC is being systematically gagged with its board loaded with Tories and its funding threatened.

So yesterday, in this Covid pandemic that no longer exists, there were another 41,130 new cases with 205 more deaths. All OK then!!

No need for SAGE or science. No need for Johnson to talk to the nation. Just carry on as usual. Get back to work and be prepared to die. Be grateful we’re not at war —– yet!!

It turns out that the government doshed out billions of our money to fraudsters. I suppose that’s only fair. They are being funded by criminals, they are criminals, so it’s only fair that they give back to criminals! Fairs fair!

Then there’s the stupid wastage. 2 million Astra Zeneca shots were destroyed because they were out of date. They could have gone to the Third World but who cares.

In the midst of war, covid, corruption and the calamity of Brexit we have a clodhopping clown to lead us.
