Multiculturalism

I want to live in a diverse, tolerant multicultural society. I think that is enriching for both myself and my family.

I do not have a problem with immigration as long as the number of immigrants does not reach a level that usurps endemic populations. That means that the level of immigration needs limiting.

I am totally opposed to all forms of racism.

I believe all people, regardless of their colour, creed or heritage should be treated equally. Everything should be based on merit.

I believe that there should be no place for hate.

I believe that immigrants should be assimilated into our culture while being free to honour their own cultures.

I believe that the law of the land supersedes everything. We all live in the UK and should be subject to this law. I do not want to see ANY religious courts.

In order to facilitate full integration I would ban ALL religious schools and make the indoctrination of children a crime. This would apply to Catholic, Christian, Jewish, Hindu and Islamic (and other) schools. I believe this religious indoctrination of young minds is child abuse.

I believe that all unBritish misogynistic practices should be outlawed and strongly enforced. That would, in my opinion, include female genital mutilation, forced marriages and the burqa.

I believe any person spreading hatred should be deported.

I believe that people who come to live in Britain do so because they want to live here; to take advantage of our freedoms and the opportunities our society provides. They should fit in and abide by our laws.

I do not understand why anybody should want to come here and then attempt to change this country back into a replica of the country they came from. If that kind of society is how they want to live they should stay in that society.

This country is a secular country and I would fight to keep it so. Religion should have no place in government. Religion should be a personal choice for those old enough to decide. Theocracies are the worst of the worst. All types of theocracy are hideous.

I want to be free to criticise all religion and religious leaders! Nobody should be above criticism. There should be NO blasphemy laws.

I do not mind causing offence.

I want to live in a multicultural country, colourful, diverse and energetic. I want people integrated and welcome. I do not want backdoor apartheid.

Multiculturalism is working to an extent but needs a lot more clear thinking It is being undermined by religious leaders, by political policies and the far right. The level of immigration and the poor level of integration, coupled with officials not wishing to impose the law for fear of upset, is playing into the hands of far right agitators like Tommy Robinson, Nigel Farage and Elon Musk.

In my view we need to make multiculturalism work!

Solving the Far-Right problem!

It’s no good just locking up the stupid foot soldiers! We should be dealing with the people who have been stirring up the racist pot for years – the ERG, Braverman, Farage, Johnson, Patel, Tice and all the right-wing Tories who have used the fear of immigrants! Very convenient for xenophobes and racists, populist politicians, to use a scapegoat to create fear, hate and division (just like Trump does in the States).

We have people like Tommy Robinson (Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon) stirring up antiMuslim hatred and fear, urging the yobs to get out on the street. Then we have that over-indulged manchild Musk wading in.

Yes – immigration is a problem.

Yes – Islam, like Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism and most other religions, is a pernicious tribalism.

Yes – we need a grown-up discussion and some proper solutions.

No – the Muslims are not taking over our culture. According to the 2021 United Kingdom census, Muslims in England and Wales numbered 3,868,133, or 6.5% of the population. Hardly swamping! 93.5% is quite a majority. Time to get things in proportion! Of course, it doesn’t help when they fail to integrate, stick to their culture and congregate in certain areas – though all of that is understandable. Lying bastards like Farage, Robinson and Musk seek to portray it differently.

Brexit lies behind a lot of this. It magnified the problems and was used by the populists. It empowered the racists!

A great way to create more integration! I know – Faith Schools!

The major problems occur in society when people live apart and become suspicious of each other. To mingle and talk is great; it breaks down barriers so that people discover they are all intrinsically similar. We humans are one people.

Religion, race and culture separate people. When people get together in multicultural ways they can benefit from the richness of different cultures. It cross-fertilises. It brings colour, vitality and joy. Out of it comes hybrids that invigorate.

It is when people become segregated from each other and alienated that trouble occurs.

We used to have a great fear of black culture from Jamaica, Pakistanis, Indians and Sikhs. But most of the people who arrived in the fifties and sixties have been integrated, taken on British values and fit in.

I know it is not perfect. A lot of work still needs doing. We need more cohesion and equality, more respect and sharing.

These days we have major problems with our Muslim community and radicalisation.

So what about a great way to bring people from different religions, cultures and races together – why not segregate them in Faith Schools!!!

Who the hell thought up such a stupid idea?

Let’s set up Jihadi colleges and Creationist schools! Why not? I mean it isn’t as if we haven’t already had problems with radicalisation in Birmingham schools; it isn’t as if there are thousands of unregistered schools indoctrinating kids with who knows what; it isn’t as if we haven’t had the Christian Catholic school indoctrinating kids.

What madness is this?

Is this a means of getting religion to fund schools?

Are GCSE results the only thing that count? Have we totally lost sight of the big picture?

There are all sorts of extreme religious fanatics who would like nothing better than to get their hands on our kids!

Segregation is not the answer to integration!a-passion-for-education-cover This is how it should be done!
