A great way to create more integration! I know – Faith Schools!

The major problems occur in society when people live apart and become suspicious of each other. To mingle and talk is great; it breaks down barriers so that people discover they are all intrinsically similar. We humans are one people.

Religion, race and culture separate people. When people get together in multicultural ways they can benefit from the richness of different cultures. It cross-fertilises. It brings colour, vitality and joy. Out of it comes hybrids that invigorate.

It is when people become segregated from each other and alienated that trouble occurs.

We used to have a great fear of black culture from Jamaica, Pakistanis, Indians and Sikhs. But most of the people who arrived in the fifties and sixties have been integrated, taken on British values and fit in.

I know it is not perfect. A lot of work still needs doing. We need more cohesion and equality, more respect and sharing.

These days we have major problems with our Muslim community and radicalisation.

So what about a great way to bring people from different religions, cultures and races together – why not segregate them in Faith Schools!!!

Who the hell thought up such a stupid idea?

Let’s set up Jihadi colleges and Creationist schools! Why not? I mean it isn’t as if we haven’t already had problems with radicalisation in Birmingham schools; it isn’t as if there are thousands of unregistered schools indoctrinating kids with who knows what; it isn’t as if we haven’t had the Christian Catholic school indoctrinating kids.

What madness is this?

Is this a means of getting religion to fund schools?

Are GCSE results the only thing that count? Have we totally lost sight of the big picture?

There are all sorts of extreme religious fanatics who would like nothing better than to get their hands on our kids!

Segregation is not the answer to integration!a-passion-for-education-cover This is how it should be done!

  1. Yes, it is a mental idea. It’s also a very purposeful method in writing off large segments of people that in future may be deemed as unsuitable candidates for employment.
“So, Hamdi, you’ve got an A pass A-level in Islamic Studies. Why do you think you’d make for a good member of our banking and investment team?”.

    1. But surely that is even more stupid. If you have a large number of young, uneducated, unemployable youths you are going to encourage radicalisation and have to spend a fortune dealing with them.
Better to educate, integrate and assimilate. Apart from anything else we need the talent.

  2. Aristotle said: “Give me a child until he is 7 and I will show you the man.” That comment has been repeated by everyone under the sun including Hitler and Lenin. I think that’s one reason the book “Ender’s Game” made such an impact on me. The children were trained thinking the videos were games and didn’t realize the last one was an actual war. I see that happening in our world today. I’m with you, Opher. We need a better solution and we need it now.

    1. I think children should be allowed to be children and educated to think, question and appreciate nature and the world we live in. They should be creative and enquiring. I hate the idea that they are educated to believe in one thing.
When they are old enough they should be free to decide what they believe in. We need religion and politics out of schools – or at least dealt with in an open, unbiased or evenly weighted manner.

    1. I can only think that May is pandering to some populist stupidity or looking to subsidise the costs with one eye on the hard times ahead.

      1. I don’t think she cares. Brexit means Brexit. I think she will put our heads in the noose and then chuckle as she says -‘It’s what you voted for – nothing to do with me. I was a remainer. I was only doing the will of the people. We have to respect democracy. We didn’t need to put it to parliament.’
