It was much warmer here in Yorkshire. We went for a walk into Driffield for a coffee and scone! I came back and have alternated between working on my room and editing my Captain Beefheart book.

Another busy day.

A third of the way through dreaded January. Days are slowly drawing out. I’m already looking ahead to warmer times, lazy summer days, bright sunshine!! I don’t like winter. It’s cold!! Dark!! Dreary!!

Meanwhile, out in Coronaland the farce continues. It’s like a Marx Brothers production perversely with a shabby circus clown playing Charlie Chaplin. Charlie Chaplin with the Marx Brothers – what next?

The revelations keep coming. The Tories had hoped that Christmas would have dispelled all their problems. Not to be. Not only was Johnson holding another party in his back garden with invites to a hundred people and instructions to ‘Bring A Bottle’ on the same day that he was telling the nation they could only meet outside with one other and instructing police to break up gatherings and fine people, but Sue Gray, the person appointed to investigate the parties, was invited.

That should be easy then. She should know if there was a party if she had received an invite!! I wonder if she went? It seems that Johnson and Carrie did!

You know it’s not really the party or the lies that is the main problem; it’s the attitude. What does it reveal when on the same day that they are instructing us that, by law, we can only meet with ONE other person outside, they are planning and holding a wine and cheese gathering for up to 100??

It says a number of things to me. Firstly that they treat us with utter contempt. Secondly that they really believe that they are above the law, that the law only applies to the little people and they are exempt. Thirdly that they think they can get away with anything.

One question keeps popping into my head – why now?? Why did all those 100 people (60 of whom apparently did not go. Some of whom questioned the legality of the party?) not think to leak it to the press or tell the police?? Or did they and it was ignored??

It brings into question a number of other things. Is Sue Gray (an invitee) the right person to bring in to investigate?? Or was she brought in to cover it up?? Are they going to get away with claiming this was a (Bring A Bottle) working meeting – held outside for safety reasons?

It looks like, under the Big Top that serves as Number 10 Downing Street, the circus is winding up. We have reports mounting about Wallpaper, Donors, Lobbying, Second Jobs, Lawbreaking, Sleaze and Parties.

Life under Boris Johnson was never going to be serious, was it? He doesn’t do serious. He doesn’t do reading up or looking at details either! Too much like hard work. He prefers party time – wine women and maybe even a bit of song. Sprogs all over the place, drunken rows, hangovers and making it up as he goes along.

He’s the Prime Minister of the zip-wire, the clown in charge, but is he any use dealing with the likes of Iran, Russia, America or China? As much use as dog piss on a lamp post!

This bloke has his finger on the nuclear bomb. He’s the sort of bloke who would press it just to see what it did.

He’s been presiding over Brexit and the Coronavirus pandemic. No wonder everything is in such a mess!! He hasn’t a clue!!

His answer to every crisis is to disappear and wait for it to blow over or to be seen dressed up in some stunt or other where he can’t be questioned – like an obese copper in ill-fitting body armour on a drugs raid, distracting people from what is really going on!

Heaven help us!!

Mind you, I want him to stay!! He’s the best reason to vote Labour!!

Having said that, his days are numbered. Rishi, the billionaire ponce, is waiting in the wings. People will love him and his smarmy entitled smile. It’ll take people a year or two to work out that he’s from the same smug, arrogant camp – a typical greedy Tory.

So, yesterday, there were another 120,821 new cases – good news!! Maybe it has passed its peak??? Maybe??

But there were 379 more dead and a rise in hospital cases.

Looks like the old and vulnerable are catching it and the two-week lag is working its way through. Way to go yet.

Plan B is working (hide and do nothing).

I got up this morning to the most beautiful sunrise. The sky was tinged with reds, pinks and oranges. Fabulous.

It was much warmer today. I’ve spent most of the day building shelves. Nearly finished now!! I’m getting quite good at it.

Meanwhile, out in Coronaland the madness continues. Our clown is being threatened from all sides.

The public are rejecting him. They no longer believe him or respond to his optimistic lies and bubbly personality. They are beginning to see him as the dorky conman and profiteer he really is. They see that he’s lying and has double standards. They see that his persona is all feigned. His popularity has dived. That puts a lot of pressure on him. If he is no longer an asset then what is he? Do they have to put up with his incompetence or is it time to get rid of him?

The Tories are now well behind in the polls. Many backbenchers are looking to see if they can hold their seats and think it’s looking unlikely. Ditching Johnson and putting Sunak in might improve their chances.

The media have turned on him. They no longer portray him as a dear old bean; he’s become an incompetent shambling twerp. The endless lies, sleaze and parties have taken their toll.

Johnson is a liability.

The backbenchers now have power over him – and those backbenchers are the same rabid nutcases who have caused such trouble for the country for decades. They did for Thatcher, Major and Cameron. They are ruthless. They are also very extreme. They are royalist, nationalist right-wing imbeciles. Their xenophobia and racism is part of their elitism. Many of them are extremely wealthy and all they are interested in is making more money. They see the poor and public services are parasites. If you’re not making lots of money you are worthless. They feel entitled.

They do not care about people; they care about profit.

These are the people now threatening Johnson. If he doesn’t do what they say they will send in their letters to Chairman Graham Bailey. It only takes 55 letters to trigger a leadership election. They have him over a cliff.

They want the country completely opened up and don’t care about the cost in lives. Money talks.

These are extremely unpleasant people.

We’ll see how it goes.

So, yesterday there were another 141,472 new cases with 97 deaths. It’s coming down. Does that mean it is over? No way!

There have now been 14 million confirmed cases in the UK. There are still a lot of people who can catch it and then people getting reinfected.

I was thinking about all those millions of infected people and wondered just how many trillion viruses there are?

How long will it be until the virus will be endemic (low levels within one country). Right now it is a pandemic (high levels through many countries at the same time). An epidemic is when there are high levels in one country.

Can we live with Covid? Yes. When we get to a point where we have herd immunity – ie. enough people have the antibodies (either through vaccination or illness). the levels will go down substantially. It will be endemic. We could find that we develop drugs to deal with it or prevent it.

The problem we might have is that there will inevitably be more variants. They could be problematic – more infectious, avoiding vaccines and antibodies, much nastier. Nobody knows.

There is already a Deltacron variant (a mixture of Delta and Omicron).

The good news is that it appears that getting the common cold produces T-cells that are effective against covid. That might help!!

Out in Australia an entitled tennis player evades the laws and selfishly thinks of nobody else but himself. I hope they kick Novaxx out!!

Another very cold day in Yorkshire. The birds were singing and their notes were falling out the sky like snowflakes.

We set off to walk into Driffield but it was too slippery underfoot so we put it off until tomorrow!! I was thinking about all those people in Alaska, Norway, Grimsby and Sweden who are used to this level of cold all the time and think nothing of it. But I’m an English wimp with tropical blood. These people from colder climes get themselves prepared. They say stuff like ‘It’s all a matter of clothing’. I’m sitting here in twelve jumpers and three pairs of jeans and I’m still cold (plus I can’t move!). I imagine that in Alaska a day without five feet of snow and above -15 C is considered balmy. But then they do have specialised equipment. They have heated boots that melt the snow as their foot comes down so they never slip and fall on their arse. Their trousers are equipped with snowploughs for deeper snow. Their glasses are equipped with laser beams.

I just want to move to Africa!!

Anyway, the sun has shone all day. It supposedly has a surface temperature in excess of 6,000 degrees, but I couldn’t feel it!! It looks around the same size as in Summer and that can scorch the skin off you like some paint stripper. I’ll never understand Physics.

In lieu of outside exercise I’ve been working on my room, moving stuff around, sorting out more shelves, putting up posters. Still a way to go but it is beginning to come together. It’ll be good when it’s done. I can start forgetting where everything is all over again!

Meanwhile, out in Coronaland, Johnson didn’t have to worry about organising his room; he just got Lulu in to smarm everything in breathtakingly grotesque fluorescent crap. I think having decor as gaudy as that must do your head in. No wonder he can’t think right. He’s being blitzed with Lulu’s extremely expensive, extravagant, bright and showy mindblitz. Enough to make anyone SHOUT!!

That clearly demonstrates that being extremely rich and entitled does not provide you with taste. It also shows that a fool is easily parted from his money. I mean, £840 a roll for wallpaper that looks like a bad acid trip!

Anyway, Lulu has made enough out of it that she can give up her singing career!! At least something good has come out of it!!

Not that Johnson ever intended to pay for any of it himself. He had his backhanders sorted, didn’t he? Wallpaper for great exhibitions! Favours for cash. That’s the way a sleazy government works.

What did they all get in return for all those sleazy untendered contracts??

When are we ever going to have anyone looking into all of this ‘criminal’ activity??

So, yesterday, there were another 179,731 new cases with 231 deaths!!

The virus is spreading into the older, more vulnerable groups. Nurses and doctors are dropping like flies, but that’s OK. The cleaners are taking over primary care. The collapse of the NHS is all part of the Tory plan.

The army is taking over until such time as the US firms can get set up to take over! They’ll soon be more than enough beds for all who can afford it.

I had to laugh at the plight of Novax Jokeovic. Being rich and famous should surely mean that you are exempt from all the laws the minions have to follow?? It works for Johnson, Trump and Bolsonaro! Being able to hit a ball better than other people means you should be free to spread the virus to all those who are not as good at hitting a ball!!

As the workers drop out with Covid and the NHS slowly sinks Javid says ‘We’re in for a rocky few weeks’. (That’s political speak for – a lot of you plebs are going to die! A lot of you nurses and doctors are going to suffer PTS, exhaustion and going to crack up). When asked about Plan B Johnson says: ‘ Err, golly gosh, err, do you like, er blah, my new wallpaper?? Oh blithering buggery, I didn’t mean to mention that!’ Novax Jokea vic said: ‘Covid? What Covid?’ Rees-Mogg says: ‘It’s all in hand. There’s no crisis. My companies have bought up lots of shares in US Medical Companies. They are poised. They’ll be plenty of beds for anyone who can afford them!’

So the sun slowly sets on another day in Tory Britain. The classrooms are covered by childminders, the hospitals by anyone and the army, hungry children are wondering when daddy’s going to get in from his third zero-hours job of the day and why Mummy is spending so much time out late in those high heels, people are turning off the central heating and saving up for a gallon of petrol, and Tory MPs are checking out their stocks and shares and looking where to invest the latest windfall from their successful lobbying while lying back in the Caribbean sun.

It’s bloody freezing!! The temperature must be minus 700 or thereabout. The house is freezing. Outside is freezing. The electric fire has icicles!!

Why the hell did my ancestors move out of Africa? It can’t surely just be because of the spiders, can it? Some of the hairy house spiders we’ve had in our place probably eat tarantulas for a snack!!

The wood for our woodburner arrived today. I had to go and load it all into the wood store. It snowed on me!! I thought that was ridiculous. It’s much too cold for snow!!

This is absurd. Global warming is messing with the weather. A few days ago it was seventeen degrees!! That’s a drop in temperature of 717 degrees!!

I’ve stayed in reading and drinking coffee. Off to see some friends shortly.

Meanwhile, outside in Coronaland, the proof has emerged that Boris Johnson lied and broke the rules. I know! Must be a shock for everyone. Him of all people!! Shock Horror!!

Seems that Theresa left the place like a pigstye (you’d have thought that was how all Tories live and Johnson would have been right at home – but no). and Carrie couldn’t bear it. It required  £112,549 to make it liveable! Many people would give anything for  £112,549. It would buy them a house!!

So Johnson knew where the money was coming from, lied about it and promised to give Brownlow the great exhibition he wanted. Quid pro quo. In this case many quid.

We officially have a lying Prime Minister who takes bribes. But that’s alright isn’t it?

I was interested to see that most people thought that all MPs were the same. That actually isn’t true. The vast bulk of the huge earnings from second jobs and lobbying is squarely with the Tories.

The fact is that bribes and favours is the way Johnson runs government. Want a knighthood? Just sign the cheque!

Mind you, there were two things that I might just agree with Johnson on. Firstly that all this antivaxxer conspiracy nonsense is mumbo jumbo (particularly in respect to the fact that 40% of the people critically ill are unvaccinated – and them making up a small percentage of people). Secondly, the idea of rewilding and looking after nature. I’d like to read the small print on that though just to make sure it isn’t a Tory ploy to give sums of our money to rich Tory landowners for doing fuck all.

So, yesterday, there were another 194,747 new cases with 334 more deaths and the epicentre moved to the North West. Only fair to share it around.

Hospital admissions are zooming up with 24 NHS Trusts declaring critical status. (Although a Tory minister said this morning that there is absolutely no problem with the NHS. To say so is a leftie plot. The Tories have ploughed £45 trillion into the NHS only last week and put in place another 4 million doctors and a 100 billion nurses. Likewise with carers. There are now 700 carers for every elderly person in the UK.)

There are currently 50 MPs at home with covid restrictions. But hey, who needs ’em? This government has treated parliament with utter disdain. They do what they like, break laws and rules whenever they like.

I had to laugh when I read that we were lifting all travel restrictions. Well, we would, wouldn’t we? We’ve probably got more covid than anywhere else!! People coming into the country could only make things better!!

Is this a way of blaming jolly foreigners again??? Are we going to carp on about them not allowing us Brits in??

Of course they shouldn’t!! We’re all riddled with Covid!! Brits should carry around bells and shout unclean at the top of their voices.
