Linton Kwesi Johnson is the reggae poet who rose to fame during the Brixton riots. His poetic explorations of the racial inequalities that led to riots coupled with his graphic descriptions of events were powerful.
It seems appropriate that I should listen to him today when those lyrics mirror the exact situation in the USA.
Linton has an amazing voice, coupled with great music and forceful lyrics.
I shall play him today and muse on the fact that the world hasn’t moved on. We are still living in a world of inequality, violent and racism.
