The Referendum releases an upsurge in racism and hate crime.

The vote for Brexit appears to have empowered a tiny minority of extremists to feel that it is alright to express their hatred and racism.

People of different colour or culture are being approached ion the streets and in their own homes and threatened and harangued. This is intolerable.

This is not the type of country I want to live in. I want to live in a tolerant, pleasant, friendly cosmopolitan country.

These mindless hate-filled morons must be dealt with.

  1. It’s because it makes for a hot topic news item. Despite the reports which by nature indicated an almost out of control scenario, yesterday by 8pm there were only 85 reported instances.
    That’s probably about normal levels.
But, yes there are some knuckle draggers at large.

  2. I hope folks in the US are paying attention. We will experience this particular shade of problem in spades in the US if that damn Trump gets elected…

    1. I find the reactions frightening. It has given carte blanche for the racist thugs to do what they like. There is intimidation. People are frightened. We had friends round yesterday who have grown children with families. Their children’s spouses were Italian and had both experienced unpleasant incidents in the last two days. There is a widespread low-level racism being expressed towards people perceived as foreigners. It works on the basis that they are not welcome and should go home. It is the background to the incidents of more extreme nastiness. There is a change in attitude.
