The Nashville Teens at Skegness – Photos

Perhaps it should be the Nashville Teen as the only original member is Ray Philips on vocal but he’s not a teen any more. They were one of my local bands and one of my favourites when I was fifteen. Their version of Tobacco Road was very powerful. Google Eye was OK but I really liked Find My Way Back Home too.

Seeing them back in the sixties was impressive because they had this double vocal attack that gave them such a lot of energy.

The Kenney Jones Gang at Skegness – Photos

It was interesting to see Kenney Jones, though he did look a bit glum behind the drums. Jim Stapley is quite a frontman and they did some good versions of Smallfaces, Faces and Who numbers. Not quite the same as the real thing though.

P. P. Arnold at Skegness – Photos.

The last time I saw P.P. Arnold was back in around 1968 at a big festival. She was performing with the Nice as her backing band and they were superb. P.P. was wearing this crocheted short mini-dress that left quite an impression on the young man I was. She belted out her R&B classics and the Nice were superb and shortly to go on to make a big splash in their own right.

I was looking forward to seeing her again and I wasn’t disappointed.
