I like music with a bit of bite and meaning!! I like lyrics that are poetic.
Ian Dury has it all! A really clever wordsmith with great music!
I saw him perform way back in 1978 at Bridlington. He was extremely good. The band rocked – but Ian was in another dimension – not only the lyrics and songs but an incredible performance! It was vaudeville, pantomime and Rock!!
Some of his songs are simply amazing! So today I am blasting out Ian Dury so that the whole street can party!!
Take it away Ian!! Lift my spirits!!
Only saw him once, with Kilburn and the High Roads – as you say, a charismatic frontman and lyrical wizard! His ‘Reasons to be Cheerful’ could be a lockdown anthem …
Hi Dave – I hope you’re keeping safe!
Yes – there’s a few contenders and that’s definitely one! He was such a brilliant performer wasn’t he?
Bit like the cheeky kid in the classroom you couldn’t quite bring yourself to get annoyed with?
Oh yes – well put!!
Hadn’t heard this song before but thanks for sharing it!
Ian is brilliant Pooj!! Give him a good listen.
I will!
Great1
Thank you!
*for sharing his music! Sheesh my keyboard wants to hit send before I’m done typing
