Back in the days of segregation (not that long ago) the black and white music was kept well apart. Blacks had their own radio stations with their own music. The Blues, Jazz and R&B were played. The whites got C&W.
We stopped off at a Blues museum to celebrate James ‘Son’ Thomas and were treated to a performance from his son Pat Thomas. He was quite a character.
Highway 61 was the route the Blues guys travelled up and down the country.
I stood where BB King had busked. Nobody gave me a penny!
I saw Skip play in Hammersmith London shortly before he died – one of the greats!

I showed this to Jonathan. BB King was Jonathan’s Blues Hero and as you know Jonathan saw in him Concert with Gary Moore. Stevie Ray Vaughn was also a Blues hero too.
I wish I’d seen that. Stevie was great and I never saw him either. Another sad loss.
I am converted to Stevie Ray Vaughn, looked on YouTube, fantastic, loved it.
Amazing guitarist.
Yes, I enjoyed what I saw of him on YouTube
I like him. He was a character too.
Jonathan told me he died in a Helicopter crash hit the mountains and apparently he was cut in half – what a death for a lad in his 30s.
Hopefully it was very quick and he did not know much about it
Let’s hope so.
so many violent deaths. it’s all that travelling.
That life is not all that glamorous as people think, it takes it’s toll mentally and physically.
