Making America Poor and Irrelevant!

A short while ago the USA was the undisputed leader of the Western World, the champion of Western values and Democracy.

Then came Trump.

In one short year all that changed.

Firstly, Trump clearly sided with our mutual enemy Putin over Ukraine and threw Europe into confusion.

Then he threatens Canada and Greenland and threatens the future of NATO.

He pulls out of the UN – the bastion of Western vales.

Trump makes disparaging remarks about allies, flattering remarks about enemies and gives support to various right-wing groups who are threatening to overturn Western values in Europe.

As a result alliances are threatened, the USA is not only untrustworthy but is actually seen to be working against the alliances forged over 80 years – increasing global instability and empowering our enemies.

The result is that the Western Allies are forging alliances WITHOUT the USA.

Trump proceeded to throw a spanner into the whole complex global trade network by using tariffs as a weapon. He stupidly thought that he could blackmail the world into doing what he wants and in the process extort huge sums of money out of other countries.

He didn’t seem to understand that trade is a two-way business and that other countries has essential resources or skills that the US did not possess.

Countries retaliated with their own withdrawal of services/goods or retaliatory tariffs.

Countries began looking for alternative markets and cutting the USA out of the loop.

Trump clearly doesn’t believe in democracy. Not only does he openly admire despots and dictators – like Putin and Kim Jung Un – but he seeks to undermine democracy his own country. He is seeking to control the democratic process, take charge of the mechanisms, control how it is done, control the courts and legislators and hold the sort of elections that give Putin 99% of the votes. He wants to be the USA dictator and sees that’s how it’s done.

He wants to rule the world and is setting himself up as the leader with his Board of Peace – loaded with dictators and despots – like Putin, Milei, Netanyahu and Lukashenk – a more scurrilous bunch of authoritarian warmongers you could not assemble. He thinks they can replace the UN and rule the world by force. It’d be like the Third Reich made real.

The destruction of trust will be detrimental to everyone, including the USA most of all. For short-term gain he has ruined long-term relationships, alliances and trade.

America will become increasingly isolated, poorer and irrelevant.

Put a fool in charge backed up by a bunch of useless sycophants and don’t be surprised at the outcome. Only the fool and his sycophants come out of it in profit! (Billions so far!)

Tariffs and Trade Wars – alternative markets.

Now that the USA cannot be trusted the rest of the world is looking around for alternative markets and friends.

When your friend turns against you that alters everything. If they can’t be trusted you dump them and make new friends.

The USA has become untrustworthy. It is siding with tyrants like Putin and Kim Jung Un. At least we know where we stand. We have to strike up alliances with people we can trust.

If the USA wants to rip us off with extra tariffs then we look for new markets with people who won’t rip us off and can be trusted.

The UK is now looking to Europe, India, China, New Zealand and Australia. We’ll be looking at Indonesia and South America. We’ll set up new trading links with trusted people just like we did when we brought in measures against Putin and Russia and cut off trade, oil and gas.

The USA used to be a trusted friend and ally. That is no longer the case. But the world’s a big place. We can shop elsewhere.

I’m personally boycotting US goods. When there is an alternative I’ll go elsewhere! It may only be a gesture but if millions of us do it then it’ll punch Trump right in his smarmy orange Nazi face!!

The Problem with Tariffs and Globalisation.

Trump and his entire team are simplistic idiots. That goes without saying. They certainly haven’t thought this through and it’s totally beyond his base of hopeless, ignorant, ill-educated fools.

Trump believes that bunging huge tariffs on imports will drive companies back to the States.

He believes it will revive manufacturing in the States and bring back jobs.

He sees it as a transactional threat. Foreign countries will fall over themselves to create better trade deals with America.

Win Win.

Except this is simplistic and naïve and takes no account of the complexity of the market.

For example: China has been hit with big tariffs making Chinese imports into the States much more expensive. Under globalisation the USA’s rare metals mining was shipped out to China. They now produce nearly all the world’s supply. If they withhold those rare metals or charge massive retaliatory tariffs the USA is snookered. They need those metals for their defence industry.

The same goes for many other industries and countries. Trade is complex.

Under globalisation the developed countries farmed out manufacturing to the undeveloped world. Labour was much cheaper. Rules less stringent. They could manufacture at a fraction the price. The result was that we could import goods at a far lower price than we could make them. Everybody benefitted by having much cheaper goods.

The problem was that our manufacturing industry collapsed with great loss of jobs and those jobs were not replaced. People were thrown on the scrapheap. Disenchantment led to the rise of populism with simplistic solutions.

Now Trump’s Tariff wars seeks to drive jobs back but it is doomed to fail because:

Global production and supply lines have become very complicated.

Firms will not undergo the huge expense of relocating if there is a hint of uncertainty – will the tariffs last? Will trade deals be negotiated?

Labour costs in the USA are far far higher than in the undeveloped world.

Countries will become protectionist, respond with their own punitive tariffs and look to develop their own manufacturing industry, seek other markets and bypass America.

The end result is that the whole world will become poorer, prices will zoom and nowhere near enough firms will expand or relocate to make it worthwhile.

The recession will be dire!!

The one thing you can be sure of is that Billionaires will profit!!

How much DUMB can one brain hold?

A World Trade War!! That’s just what we all need!! WTWWP!!

Make The Whole World Poorer!!

Slow down trade! Stiff your friends! Make everything more expensive!

Countries look for alternative markets and friendlier people! Who needs friends like this?

For more simplistic solutions to complex problems just ask the corrupt!!

Meanwhile, the most corrupt President in history is raking it in. They’ve been pulling in $40 million for Melania’s documentary, scamming the MAGA cult for merchandise – $80 million so far, $10 million from Musk, millions from ‘meme coin’ and a range of other scams including bibles!

He doubling his wealth by making poor Americans poorer.

A trade war is a war!

He’s not putting tariffs on enemies (Russia, North Korea, Iran).

He’s putting tariffs on friends (Canada, the EU, the UK, Mexico).

Who’s he working for?

Who will pay?

$5 Trillion lost in 3 Weeks!!

That’s without the loss of allies and friends, the betrayals and voting with communist enemies.

What’s the price of eggs now??

The S&P 500 fell 155 points today – Losing 10x what the US has given Ukraine!

‘The S&P 500 fell 155 points today. The amount of value destroyed on the New York Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ today is equivalent to ten times what we’ve given Ukraine. Today. Yes, you read that right. One day. That’s not paper money. That’s real money.’

If Russia was writing a playbook to destroy the West, this would be it.

What’s causing these huge losses??

  1. Uncertainty The markets hate uncertainty and Trump spells CHAOS. Foreign investors pull their money and put it where there will be greater stability.
  2. Putin and Russia. Sucking up to the enemies of the USA is causing bewilderment. For decades Russia has been the major enemy; the country it looked as if we were vying with; the country who we were likely to have a war with (a massive nuclear conflagration). For decades they were, along with China, the commie threat. There were wars in Vietnam, Korea and Cambodia to stem their influence. Now, suddenly, in an act of Orwellian double-think, they are allies. Trump is voting with them in the UN against Western allies. Trump is supporting the invasion of Ukraine. Trump is siding against Ukraine and Western allies. There is even talk (stemming from three different sources) of Trump being a Russian agent called Krasnov. It spooks the markets.
  3. Betrayal of friends and allies. Using a stream of outright lies Trump is threatening NATO, the UN and lambasting Europe. He has overturned hundreds of years of diplomacy and alliances. This is a new world order and nobody knows who to trust.
  4. Tariffs on friends and neighbours. Ridiculous talk of making Canada an American state and piling tariffs on Mexico and Canada has seriously enraged Canadians and Mexicans and greatly affected trade. A trade war affects world markets. A trade war spooks markets. In the aftermath of tit for tat reprisals and uncertainty, soaring prices, boycotts and fury, businesses look for alternatives and shoppers shun American goods. The results are long-lasting.
  5. Threats. Threats to invade Greenland could create a war with NATO allies. The UK and Europe could actually find itself at war with the USA. Unbelieveable. Then we have the Panama canal. That could also escalate into a war.
  6. Gaza. True to his tendency to side with totalitarian, extreme right-wing dictators (Putin, Jung Un, Oban, Bolsonaro etc) Trump has unconditionally thrown his support behind Netanyahu and his genocide of the Palestinian people. Without any understanding of the delicate, fragile state of affairs in the Middle East, with all its religious and political machinations, Trump has given carte blanche to Netanyahu and his extreme right-wing maniacs to completely flatten Gaza and starve all the millions of Palestinian survivors to submission. He has absurdly threatened to drive them all out of their homeland and take it over to create a Riviera tourist resort for the wealthy. Not a thought has gone into the effects of this gung-ho moneymaking scheme. Not a thought of the effects on other Arab countries or Iran. It’s a powder keg and Trump’s lit a fuse.
  7. Cheap Labour. The indiscriminate war or immigrants, with mass expulsions, will have an immense impact on the economy. Migrant workers provide cheap labour for field work, factories and all manner of industries. The intent is to cut welfare and drive Americans into working for peanuts. The reality is that Americans are highly resistant to take up these low-paid jobs. Either wages have to rise or crops rot. Either way prices go up. Markets don’t like inflation.
  8. DOGE – it always seems a good idea to cut the waste from government spending, trim all the departments. The reality is different. When you take a chainsaw to the departments you suddenly discover that many of them are actually doing essential jobs – like traffic control, monitoring nuclear plants and keeping people safe. Remove the safety checks and people die, planes crash, we get mass pollution and peoples’ health suffers. Putting an unelected megalomaniac billionaire in charge doesn’t look like a good idea. The markets take a dim view.
  9. Miscellaneous acts of vandalism. Taking all the funding away from science, stopping all monitoring of the environment or pollutants, funding oil, dispensing with renewables. Sounds on the surface as if he is taking all the brakes off. Industries can now drill in national parks, create waste and pollute to their hearts’ content. That’ll make money and provide jobs in the short-term. But, in the future it will catch up with them. A few environmental disasters, a slew of litigation for health and deaths and people will start demanding health and safety and accountability. Not only that but the future is in the new technologies, not the old polluting, outdated technologies. By opting out the USA is giving the future to China who is throwing everything at it. The USA will sink like a stone.

If Trump really is a Russian Agent then Job Done. He has successfully thrown the whole West into a panic, upturned markets and alliances and created disharmony. Russia and Xi must be laughing their heads off.
