Poetry – Something’s Gotta Change

Something’s Gotta Change

Two swallows chuntering on the wire.

Five swifts screeching in the sky.

Once so many, now so few.

Remnants – for us to question why.

When insects were plentiful

They fed their hungry brood.

Now the times are tough

There’s a shortage of food.

One thing cascades into another

As we spray with insecticide,

Fill in ponds and streams.

Populations tumble while we decide.

Something has got to change

If we are to stop the rot.

Unless we want a sterile world

With a temperature far too hot.
