Poetry – Isolation Blues

Isolation Blues

I’ve got the isolation blues

From my head to my shoes!

No matter what I try

I know I’m bound to lose!

That’s the isolation blues!

That’s the isolation blues!

Well I got up this morning.

Dragged myself out of bed

I had this heavy feeling

Like my feet were made of lead.

I tried to get in gear,

Tore a brush through my hair.

Looked in the mirror,

All I could do was stare.

I’ve got the isolation blues

From my head to my shoes!

No matter what I try

I know I’m bound to lose!

That’s the isolation blues!

That’s the isolation blues!

I headed down the stairs,

Tried to write my book.

Staring at the page

All I could do was look.

No words came to mind

No ideas in my head

I struggled for an hour

Then went back to bed.

I’ve got the isolation blues

From my head to my shoes!

No matter what I try

I know I’m bound to lose!

That’s the isolation blues!

That’s the isolation blues!

I went for a walk

Using nature as a cure

Failed to raise my spirits

Was all I could endure.

I picked up a book

And tried my best to read

The page started wobbling

My brain began to bleed!

I’ve got the isolation blues

From my head to my shoes!

No matter what I try

I know I’m bound to lose!

That’s the isolation blues!

That’s the isolation blues!

I hope that tomorrow

I’ll feel better again.

I’m feeling so fed up

I can’t stand the pain!

I wanna catch a gig!

I wanna see my friends!

No amount of chocolate

Is gonna make amends!

I’ve got the isolation blues

From my head to my shoes!

No matter what I try

I know I’m bound to lose!

That’s the isolation blues!

That’s the isolation blues!
