South West Rocks – Mangrove swamps, kangaroos and swimming!

A mob of kangaroos at South West Rocks.

We set off on a walk and immediately came across a mob of kangaroos. They were quite relaxed though the big male watched us intently. A mother had a big baby in her pouch. Great to see.

We headed up from Newcastle to camp out at South West Rocks. There is a big sheltered bay in which whales come to frolic. Unfortunately it was the wrong time of year. But there was plenty of other wildlife including a mob of Kangaroos.

They watched warily as we approached with one big boomer standing up challengingly until he figured we were no threat. We were allowed to get quite close.

The wonderful Kangaroos!!

What amazing creatures.
