I’ve never managed to see Ry Cooder live but Nick Harper was telling me that he once shared a stage with him. He actually played on Captain Beefheart’s first album! He also formed a band with Taj Mahal!
Ry has played all manner of music – acoustic, electric and whatever – all equally impeccable. I love it all.
So today I’ll be playing Ry!!
Ry Cooder is worth well seeing live. If you like Ry, you like JJ Cale?
Yes Jeff I love JJ. I had a day on him a while back. I’m quite enjoying focusing on one guy a day. I’d love to see Ry.
Try Eric Clapton’s “The Breeze-in appreciation of JJ Cale.” lots of folks on it, including Mark Knoplher.
I’ll check that out Jeff. I don’t think I’ve heard that.
Just picked it up, good/great CD…
Yes great!
One of Cooder’s best lps was his first, “Ry Cooder.” You familar with “Road to Escondido?” JJ Cale an Eric Clapton…worth it.
I agree. I have both of them. Ry was so versatile and JJ had a way of creating such a great rhythm.
