Well you can feel the tectonic plates shifting and the mood not lifting. The conspiracy theories, fake news and real news all confused.
I’m not sure what to believe anymore. I’m really not sure.
I write prose that rhymes all the time but that’s no crime.
I didn’t mean to press that publish button – I was just doodling!
I’ll update.
We had fish and chips yesterday – I’m not sure how long we’ll be able to do that. There is talk of it lasting a year. There is talk of a drug cure.
I think it is going to get very bad very quickly – in a few weeks. Then everyone will panic and disappear. Then we will come out and it will come back!
But that’s just me.
I quite like this routine I’m in – but I miss friends and family already. What’s that going to be like in three months? I suspect we shall drift into a new reality.
On a positive note – among all the selfish Zombie Apocalypse at the supermarket – we have had offers of support from all manner of people. Society lives!!
Hey Opher. How’s it going. Thought you might be interested in the following article appearing in the Guardian newspaper, Sun 22 Mar 2020: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/mar/22/tim-lang-interview-professor-of-food-policy-city-university-supply-chain-crisis
Yes – this virus is highlighting so much. It shows the fragility, inequality and stupidity of how society is set up.
There is lots of heartfelt, lovely stuff happening out in the world. I have not lost hope. Having said that, we went food shopping today. It was so surreal. Rows of empty shelves, limits on purchase numbers. Panic buying has now apparently moved onto live chooks, seedlings and alcohol!!!
I found it all overwhelming for the first time – and burst into tears. Much to my husband’s consternation.
I am not going to venture out anymore unless I absolutely have to. The dr may recommend self isolation anyway due to my having asthma.
You should be isolating Raili. There is madness out there. People are behaving like fools.
The local township has now a shelter in place order, with civic fines for violating it. The frenzy out there was part of the need for the order. People were completely over the top, and some business “managers” were almost encouraging the frenzy. Madness out there was a kind way to phrase it, but behaving like fools is the way to identify Trumpists, that and MAGA hats. Like the clown shoving his arm in between loves of bread on a store shelf, sweeping several loaves into an empty shopping cart…”Now nobody else will get these!!” Not our cart: a few limes, two six packs of tonic and liter of Gordon’s gin. Priorities, priorities, priorities. LOL Plenty of Jamesons and last Costco trip got a case of Guiness in “bombers” cans. Can weather this storm. Be careful, Raili, the neighbor that died from corona had asthma. They wouldn’t even let his wife into his room before he died, but she’s tested positive already.
The loonies are out here too. But then there seems to have been a rise of loonies. It’s as if Brexit unleashed a whole bunch of people to behave badly. Trump seems to have done the same. They feel empowered.
We’re on the tip of a huge tsunami of disease. Take care out there! Isolate, wash and wait. At least the intelligent will take precautions – the stupid might not.
