I had to have a tooth out yesterday – unexpectedly. It hurt like mad.
I finished reading Dan Brown’s Inferno yesterday. I really enjoyed it. I find Dan Brown quite a gripping light read. It’s a bit contrived and daft but it is a page turner and it draws you in. Once I start I can’t put it down. I like books like that occasionally.
Inferno is concerned with the gross madness of the population explosion. It is a sickness that is destroying the natural world. Nowhere is untouched.
The book was a mystery solution to the problem that is presently destroying the planet and sending the rest of life hurtling towards extinction – how to get our numbers under control and leave room for the rest of the wonders of life that has evolved on this green gem.
My tooth and that book sent me into writing a string of poems – which I have just published here on my blog. I realised after I had written them out and put them out that they are really all just one poem.
Never mind. I will graft them together in my next poetry book.
I write poems for the wonders of nature that we might protect and nurture it and put a halt to this mad destruction that we are waging. I think there is a war going on. It is a war between the rich and the poor. It is a war that creates a relentless stupid striving for growth and profit at all costs. It is costing us our souls and the earth.
I like reading Dan Brown too sometimes. Currently I’m ploughing through some old freebies I found on my phone. Interesting to step back in time and read novels that were written at a very different time and in a very different world space.
Yes that is interesting. The world changes so very quickly. I do like Dan Brown. This one was good.
I think I’ve read all of his books. Despite the controversy that surrounds the DaVinci Code, I found it a fascinating read. Particularly so as we have an illustrated version with the most beautiful photographs of the places and some of the not so nice implements that are part and parcel of the shady history the book delves into.
There certainly were some gruesome tools Raili!

Long ago Dewin I entered the gates of Mammon and was surrounded with everything I stood against. I set about changing it and did manage a dent or two.
I’ve been meaning to read this one. I like him, too. Sorry too hear about your tooth. There is NO place on a body where pain is harder to tolerate than in your mouth — at least in my experience. Been working with a dentist to clear up some callouses (believe it or not) on my tongue. He gave me a prescription for what they call Magic Mouth Wash. It’s a compound of benedryl, maalox, and lydocaine. Man! Takes away te pain and leaves your mouth and tongue really numb!
Mouths, genitals and finger tips – all imbued with more nerve endings. But my mouth is healing and feeling better. I just lost something that’s been part of me a long long time! Thanks for your concern Cheryl.
