The lies are all coming home to roost as the damage mounts up.
a. The bill to leave is now rising to a staggering £40,000,000,000 – £40 Billion!!!(a sum equivalent to our entire defence bill!)
b. Firms and banks are already fleeing to the continent.
c. The Regulatory groups are relocating to Europe.
d. An army of bureaucrats have been employed to do the extra work.
e. Huge sums are put aside to bring in the massive bureaucracy for trade at our borders.
f. An army of barristers and legislators are already picking over the carcass.
g. The costs of trade tariffs will be enormous.
h. Picking our way out of the treaties, legislation, cooperation on all manner of things is going to be incredibly expensive, complicated and time consuming. Policing, antiterrorism, science, atomic energy, aviation, environmental issues, pollution, fishing, and a hundred other issues will all need resolving.
I. Staffing levels for agriculture, the NHS, care of the elderly, restaurants, hotels and hundreds of other businesses – both skilled and unskilled – have to be resolved. It is already playing havoc.
j. The rights of the British expats and European people living here have still not been addressed.
k. The border in Ireland is still not resolved.
l. The affect on the British psyche has been immense. Hate crime has risen. There is more xenophobia, nationalism, racism and jingoism. It has given courage to the worst elements of the British character.
So much for all this money that will go to the NHS. This is going to bankrupt the nation. What a stupid own goal. Is this what we signed up for? Could people not see that all this would happen? What a mess.
I find it incredibly depressing. My grandchildren will inherit a country that is all the poorer and all the lesser.
I can’t help but wonder if there is not a way to reverse this disaster and get back to some sanity.
Wow, when your Tories screw up, they don’t mess around! Did none of these costs come up during the Brexit Referendum debates? I think the UK should join Canada! 😉
No John – not a Dickie bird about the costs. There was plenty about the great sums we would be saving though.
I think the Remain campaign was far too complacent and inept. Nobody talked about the immense difficulties of untangling ourselves and the cost that would entail, the tariffs and extra costs or the large relocations that would take place. The Brexiteers labelled everything like that ‘Project Fear’. Well project fear is becoming reality.
I wonder if the EU would be open to a reversal on the part of the UK before this goes much farther.
The EU has stated that the process can be stopped at any time. I just wish that people would wake up to the serious damage it is doing us.
I feel the same way about what is going on here.
It is tragic isn’t it? The worst thing is the effect it has had on otherwise sane people. It is like it’s thrown a switch or tipped a balance.
