Brexit will deliver 80,000 new jobs…in Frankfurt [Evening Standard]
A new report suggests that 80,000 new jobs are set to be created in Frankfurt, as Brexit sparks an exodus of bankers from London. An Evening Standard article comments that this is another bitter blow to Brexit backers such as Boris Johnson, who predicted that as many as 300,000 new jobs would be created in the UK if it voted to leave the EU.
Rule, Britannia!
The boy stood on the burning deck – as it sunk.
Hey Opher,
Am I reading these stats correctly: of the 300,000 potential new jobs suggested at by BJ, 80,000 of them were intended for bankers and financiers? 23% of potential jobs in the UK were to be given to the money trade?
Namaste 🙂

Dewin – I don’t think Boris was suggesting that those 80,000 were going to be created in banking. That is 80,000 that are part of what we are losing from banking. every cloud has a silver lining.
Excellent, the further away 80,000 blood-sucking vampires are the better. Curiously Transylvania is not that far from Frankfurt 😉 I wonder if BJ wanted the top job or if Theresa May will get it rising again in European politics after being buried by Labour next time round.
Thanks for throwing light on statistics 🙂

The only down-side is that those leeches are what are keeping the economy afloat and that pays for teachers and nurses.
And that my friend is the bottom line. Subservience to an elitist system weighted in favour of business is what is killing people. Until someone with balls big enough tells the banking cartels to ‘go forth and multiply’ the earth will spin on an axis of fool’s gold. That is why I ask for alien intervention to present a superior power for regime change here on earth. It really is time for non-violent robust and effective social change to happen. A revolution in thinking and in being human.

Totally agree Dewin. This is why I want a more global approach to curtail the evil practices of these greedy people. Until then they fleece us all.
Indeed it is sadly so 🙁
It’s pretty obvious that some of your folks over there are related to some of our folks over here who’ll believe anything they’re told… Sometimes promises really are too good to be true! But let’s believe anyway!
There were so many lies – and still are.
I was going to press Like but, er, didn’t … we’re in a sticky place, half of us (at least) torn between anger and depression and the rest veering from complacency to denial. They shoot horses, don’t they …?
It is an absolute mess. The worst thing is that it was utterly predictable. What I can’t understand is why people are not making more fuss about the lies we were told.
Shellshock?
Something like that. The news gets worse every day.
