5 Great early Beatles Covers

The Beatles started as a Rock Band covering early Rock ‘n’ Roll and RnB (with the odd musical standard thing thrown in). They were a bit unusual in that they covered a number of the girl groups.

  1. Yet more dodgy info!
Correct title was Please Mister Postman
Twist and Shout originally recorded by The Top Notes in `61

  2. Not really a ‘number of girl groups’, just one or two and mainly The Shirelles, whom John Lennon really liked. Many groups had a few girl group songs in their sets as that’s what club audiences liked to hear. And if you checked out the setlists for all the groups that played the clubs in Hamburg 1960-65, you’ll see loads of them each playing a few popular girl group numbers, so nothing unusual at all. Even The Who played Martha & The Vandellas stuff right up to the end of 1966.
