My beliefs – Big Business
I believe that capitalism and big business operate in the interests of a tiny minority of rich or powerful people and against the interests of the majority of the people.
I believe that the greed and selfishness created by this system is responsible for the destruction of the environment, stripping of assets and impoverishment of most of humanity.
I believe that the multinationals are a law unto themselves. They are so powerful that thy bribe and lobby to get their own way.
I believe the multinationals use their position to avoid paying taxes and to get around labour laws and laws governing pollution and health and safety.
I believe they are unscrupulous.
I do not know whether there is a cabal of multibillionaires who buy off politicians, control money markets, control commerce, control the media, or seek to maintain ‘the establishment’ so that it works in their favour, or whether this system operates as a loose association of behind doors conniving and ad hoc behavior by a group of people with shared interests – feathering their own nests. The end result is the same. Political systems, laws, the media, and commercial enterprises are all bought and sold. They are controlled.
I believe the answer is to put all multinationals under national control, prohibit the size of any one of them exceeding a certain proscribed wealth (reducing their power) and make them subject to globally imposed laws on taxation, labour and pollution.
I believe that if we do not find a way of controlling capitalism the greed and selfishness will destroy everything on the planet and us with it.

I don’t like the way that China is taking over so much here, the way this Government is just selling off. People just say nothing do they care – they are complacent, my voice would never be heard, yours is through your work. The powerful have always been there only now they seem even more powerful more people prepared to turn a blind eye.
No. I agree. China seems to have gone overboard on the capitalist dream. So much for communism.
Yes, I am trying not to laugh.
Laughing’s good. If you don’t laugh you end up crying. It’s all so ridiculous.
Totally, totally agree. Every time our Senators, or President try to get restrictions on air/water pollution passed, they get knocked down. So writing to Senators doesn’t work because they already care and are trying. House of Representatives are all bought off by said companies, so what do you do but act locally? It’s the whole world. People are waking up slowly. You are right, it’s all so ridiculous.
We have to circumvent the power that is causing the damage. Cheers Mary!
got any ideas about what we 99% can do other than voting, boycott, petitions and protests?
Keeping blogging, raising awareness and changing the zeitgeist. I write my books and shout a lot.
Hehe, yeah shouting is good. I shout…well speak loudly to the TV when I rarely watch it. The zeitgeist and education is good. Just slow.
Frustrating isn’t it? I wish I had the answers that would change things overnight. In the meantime I’ll shout as loudly as I can. Cheers Mary. Keep shouting. Eventually a tsunami of voices will make them listen.
Each drop of protest swings the pendulum further against the corrupt.
I hope so Raili, I really do.
It provides a counterbalance that one day will outweigh the other 🙂
We’ll see.
