Photography – Peru – The Ballestas Islands – A treasure trove of wild life + Inca ruins

In 2006 we had the opportunity to tour Peru. It was incredible. From rainforest to volcanos and Machu Pichu. Awesome. We went out to the Balestas islands where there were seals, penguins, pelicans and millions of wild sea birds.

We toured the Inca ruins, flew over the Nazca lines and saw the incredible Candelabra (created in the desert by the Incas thousands of years back). The scenery was stunning.

Here’s a few piccies.

  1. What’s the orange stuff on the bottom of the big rock in the 6th picture? They’re all beautiful, btw… So you don’t believe in the whole aliens did the lines thing, eh? 😀

    1. I’m not sure. I think it is some strange algae or the way the rock goes when its wet. Weird isn’t it.
No I don’t think Daniken was right. It wasn’t the aliens – but the Nazca lines were extremely weird. I think the Incas were trying to contact their Gods. They had major drought and were desperate.

  2. You remind me of my trip to Peru in1999 with my two girls. And I’m still trying to learn Spanish. Glad you had a chat with my non theist Quaker partner. Oops husband. Have now got your books as couldn’t kindle in Spain so good old paperback. Ts almost read the Headteacher one. Will review at some point soon.

    1. Hi Georgina – good to hear from you. Peru was an amazing experience. Wish I could speak Spanish. I’m so useless at languages. I think it’s lack of confidence. It was nice to hear from Trevor.
It’s so nice that you bought my books. Which ones did you go for? I’d be really interested to hear what you thought of them but I’m nervous about what you might think. Hope you enjoy them – All the best Opher
