Sri Lanka – Colombo – Hindu temple

Colombo was amazing. We walked around, hired tuks-tuks and raced through the streets – at least that’s how it felt!

The Hindu temple was very colourful and highly decorative. There were guys with various animals trying to get us to pose for photos. The animals looked to be well treated but it was still not right.

Penang – From the Kek Lok Si Temple down to the city.

We went back down the funicular to the city and walked around. Colourful streets, highrises, temples and traffic. A Unique mixture. The colonial mixed in with more traditional buildings and Hindu temples. McDonald’s looked like a temple to fast food!!

India – Kanchipuram – The Ekambareswarar Temple

We were lucky; we arrived in the midst of a festival! The temple was mainly granite and 1500 years old. It was extremely impressive.

Underneath was a maze of granite pillars and corridors, with colourful fantastical statues of beasts, mandalas and holy men. People were wandering through, sitting on the floor having a picnic and generally enjoying themselves.
