Poetry – Militia

Militia

Guys in masks,

With rifles,

On the streets

Subverting democracy.

Called to the polling stations

To intimidate you and me.

Called by their President

To subvert

The process of election.

Spreading fake news

About fraudulent voting

Without foundation.

Can this be happening

In the 21st Century?

That a President

Unleashes militia

In complete anarchy?

Opher – 30.9.2020

If ever there was a blatant attempt to subvert democracy, this was it.

What Trump has been doing is scandalous, yet they let him get away with it!

The man pours out fake news and lies.

He actively calls armed militia out on to the streets.

He’s inviting intimidation and violence.

He is trying to set an agenda that is as false as the stripper’s boobs.

This is unprecedented or should that be unpresidented?

Yet so many are falling for it.

That says reams about them.

Poetry – Goons

Goons

They follow orders without question,

Shooting their own in the back.

They don their uniforms, turn off their minds

And always hunt in packs.

They’re the goons.

The bask in their power.

They kill with impunity

While people cower.

They learn to torture rape and gas

Which becomes their stock in trade.

Stand proud in lines, in uniform

In the big parades.

They’re the goons.

The bask in their power.

They kill with impunity

While people cower.

Without these heartless minions

The world would be a better place.

These tools of the tyrants

A disgrace to the human race.

They’re the goons.

The bask in their power.

They kill with impunity

While people cower.

Opher – 10.4.2021

Everywhere you look around the world you see them. They are dressed in body armour and are armed to the teeth. They are the ones who beat up protestors, who go around in the night rounding people up. They take them to underground dungeons to torture and degrade as a warning. They bury the bodies.

You see them everywhere – where-ever where people are fighting for justice or to oppose a tyrannical regime. In South America, Nigeria, Hong Kong, China, North Korea, the USA, Myanmar, Israel, it’s the same faceless brutal state thugs – the Stormtroopers, torturers and tools of the despot – the ones shooting unarmed protestors – and enjoying it.

Without these nasty arrogant little pieces of scum no oppressor can ever hold power.

They strut about in their uniforms thinking they have power.

The goon is the enemy of us all – the expression of fascism, the long arm of oppression.

Poetry – Following Orders

Following Orders

Just following orders

In their crisp uniforms.

For a career and a paycheque

They’d sell their vey souls.

Without mindless goons

Doing what they’re told,

Obeying all commands,

Carrying out their roles.

No tyrant can hold power,

No despot gain control,

No fascist power

Can ever reach its goal.

Just following orders.

Opher 29.1.2021

Everywhere I look around the world I see evil people and draconian laws being propped up by a bunch of faceless riot soldiers in helmets and body armour, clutching guns and batons, firing tear gas and water cannon, firing bullets, beating people senseless.

Everywhere I look they are dragging off bloodied protestors into trucks, into jails, into torture chambers and graves.

They put on their uniforms and lose their minds.

Fela Kuti called them zombies.

They are worse than that – I think they enjoy the power, the freedom to be brutal.

Every dictator is dependent on their armies of goons – just following orders.

Poetry – The Time Comes

The Time Comes

Dictators fall.

Even tyranny has its limits.

Like a pressure cooker

With the heat turned up –

Something gives.

Oppression creates fear

But fear can rapidly change to fury

When a certain point

Is reached.

People crowd the streets

Encased in teargas clouds,

Facing down

The faceless goons.

Shields are thumped.

Adrenaline flows.

Rubber bullets fly.

Trained robots charge.

Batons thud on heads.

But if the people are united,

Determined and resolute

The regime falls.

Quote 12 – Spike Milligan – a goon who was more sane than everyone else

“All men are cremated equal”

What a difference an M makes!

The man was a genius.

Another attempt at marketing:

These are my six books of poetry. They are available as paperback or on Kindle from Amazon – all for under £5 for a paperback. You could buy the whole lot for just £27.62!!

They are not conventional poetry books. They are like you find on my blog with a page of explanatory prose followed by the poem. The prose is as important as the poem to me.
