Straight out of Greenwich Village and a mate of Dylan’s Ritchie had a unique guitar style. He almost used it as a rhythmic percussion instrument. I’ve not heard anyone else playing in a similar way.
He was famous for doing interesting covers of Dylan and the Beatles but I liked his other songs to.
One of the great ones. I love his deep voice.
Nowhere near as popular as he should have been.
He was popular here.
A bit of a cult figure over here. I had a ticket to see him once but he did not show. He was ill. A shame. I would like to have seen him.
Woodstock put him into stardom. He was awesome. Our son who now has a deep appreciation for music and LP’s asked me for my albums. Gulp! I said yes to some, and the hardest to give away was Woodstock. Of course I had already played it hundreds of times. But that didn’t matter. He now has the music of the greats. I’m so glad. It would have been a thrill to see him perform.
You gave away your albums????? Gosh Jennie – I couldn’t do that. I still collect. I just give them my spares. Woodstock was a great triple album. Even more of that music has come out over time.
Not all of them, just some. It’s hard to say no to your child. And, he treasures them. Woodstock was a great triple album. It introduced us to many artists who became legends.
I know they are really difficult to say no to. My youngest is a real music nut and likes the same things as me.
Woodstock was brilliant. Those were the days.
Yes!!
✌✌
Ever see him in concert? I saw him once. In a park in the Philadelphia suburbs, about 15 years ago. His performance was profoundly great. He commanded the stage.
No, I never did get to see him. I actually had a ticket but he cancelled it due to illness. Gutted.
