The news is biased. That is undoubtedly true. Living with the gross exaggerations and downright lies of British tabloids can be immensely frustrating and infuriating. They lie!
Even the BBC is politically motivated. I remember their deliberate proThatcher policy of inverting events at the Orgreave coking plant. It was blatant.
But it was a documentary on Channel 4 that exposed the BBC lie.
I saw Tony Blair once at an education conference and he told us that the speech we were hearing would be misrepresented on the news – and it was.
I always bear in mind that news has to be taken with a pinch of salt.
But News is the bedrock of democracy. Without unbiased news we do not have democracy.
Trump has been deliberately undermining the media. He calls it all fake news. Every time they reveal his lies he calls them fake.

His calling out of the media is an attempt to cover up his lying. He is covering his tracks and feeding raw meat to his rabid followers. The truth goes out the window.
These people have been told that the media lies so they go looking for truth on line. What they find is blatant propaganda and they believe it! Incredible!
It is totally unprecedented for the whole press of America to come together to do an editorial on Trump’s lying and false accusations. No President in the history of the States has generated such hostility.
Of course – the rabid Trump supporters love it.
The big loser is stability and democracy. Trump’s attack on the media is destabilising and threatens the whole bedrock of democracy.
Personally I would prefer to live with a flawed news system. At least I know where I stand with them and can read between the lines.
Trump is actually attacking the whole fabric of what holds a society together in order to benefit in terms of wealth and power. He is feeding off this hostility and division. He is fuelling it.
Where will it end?

There are over 1,000 news agencies in USA. If they all add up a tally of their own false news versus Trump’s, they’re going be looking very stupid.
Most people know the US main news media is under the control of the left-wing, so I can’t think what purpose any of this will serve. Neither does it matter because they aren’t actually running anything and who cares what any commentator thinks. This is another mistake too many people make, they begin to believe that what the media says is important and means something and makes a difference. What’s certainty is that Trump couldn’t give a damn about them. His figures are doing so well this all just clutching a straws behaviour from those with their noses out of joint.
I don’t know what percentage actually put out editorials but it was a lot. An unprecedented number. Where do you get this left-wing control? I certainly did not perceive a left-wing bias when I lived there and I don’t actually think there is a left-wing in America.

Two nights ago “youth gangs”, of at least 60 persons, set fire to over 150 cars in various no-go zones ghettos in organised attacks in several Swedish cities. Some instances had the streets barricaded and rocks pelted at the fire service.
One arrested is an Iranian aged 30+ had been sentenced to 10 months for another crime and released after serving less than a week and was immediately out torching cars. Another was arrested the following day in Turkey having flown there.
So far this year over 1,500 cars have been intentionally torched by immigrant youth gangs.
Yes – sounds like the riots we had in England. Most of these gangs were kids – under sixteen. You’re putting a racist edge to it – were they immigrants? Doesn’t look like it to me.

I don’t understand why you think it is young kids. I think when an organised assault attack on fire service takes over two hours to stop is not young kids. That’s crazy thinking.
First, many people are not realising Sweden has the most strict controlled media in Europe. The press is very restricted and they do not allow criticism of government policy. This is not possible.
Second, Sweden has population of maybe 10 millions. In last five years let in 600,000 asylum seekers, which pro rata is far more than any other country. Most are males, under 30 years, from a completely different culture, and maybe you know a very bad attitude to women. These people’s Islam is a disaster for Sweden and have caused a big change in Sweden.
As the Prime Minister said, this is mass co-ordinated arson – not some stupid kids messing around, he said “this is almost like a military operation”.
There is a massive increase in sexual crime. Government policy is the cause and politicians are to blame.
For our Prime Minister to make public criticism about government policy like this is unbelievable for Sweden.
There is the General Election on September 9th and the far-right are expected to do well. I hope so and we can start reversal process and start deporting.

Opher — before I explained that Sweden has the most restricted media in Europe. There is no possibility that Sweden state run TV will broadcast any that will make them look like criticism of government policy. They are not going to show films in detail of who is doing this. Do not expect to see this.
We have crazy new system rules in Sweden. When Police are looking for people they never said he’s brown skin, black skin. The just say he’s male with dark clothes.

Young children do not make coordinate organised over all the country. How do they get so many rocks to these places to throw for two hours? Two hours? This is trucks of rocks. How young children do that? That is crazy thinking.
Third: you ask why they were not arrested? Because they left. They did not wait for the police. With the fires where they also throw rocks, they throw rocks then run. How the police catch in the black of night and people run fast with black clothes? This is not Hollywood!!! and Arnie Schwartzenegger catching all the bad guys.
The rioting in England is not the same, not in twelve cities all at same time at 2AM.

I would not believe they decided not to arrest. They identified nothing like what they say. Yes, all wearing black clothes and hoods – and the police identified them and phoning the parents. How much of any of this can you believe please? Over one million euros on fire and no arrests and only phoning parents? You can believe this Please? It seems that it is mainly organised through social media and involves young disaffected kids. The ones apprehended, that I read in one report, were fifteen years old and returned to their parents. Under Swedish law they cannot be arrested.
You associate it with immigration. They, the policeman interviewed, associated it with deprivation and lack of opportunity.
There is certainly a problem, as there is in Britain, with too much immigration and a failure to integrate these immigrants. Both of those issues need urgently addressing. Assimilating immigrants is essential. The politicians have not spent enough time on it.
